1. The rig is for sale, as are all the individual items trialled.
2. Jeff, there are some things missing from your description.... 2 hours of live/full volume direct comparison trial of heads: AH150 MkV AH200 Ser 6 AH250 Mk2 AH250 MkV Through cabs individually and as stacks: Trace 410Mk2 Trace 410H Ser 6 Trace 15+10 Ser 6 Trace 1x15 MkV Trace 15+18 Mk1 And to confirm tonality preference: Hartke USA 410 Marshall Jubilee 1x15 And to confirm stack is reequired: AH150 Mk2 1x15 combo with/without extension cab In every combination for two hours. Throwing in a Premium ++ grade XLR-XLR and Jack-Jack speaker leads. Then, pull a Mk2 1x15 to match the favoured 410. Finding a problem with the driver, replace with an original replacement Fane 200 and bring the cab to town in time for a trial. Now let's see... MkV AH250 with footswitch and silent fan and working UV unit (full tech checkup 2 weeks ago) Matched cab stack - clean/just a few knocks and the usual logo scrapes black painted solid ply with orig 50w Celestion 10"s and Fane 15" - try to find one of those, let alone a stack With top grade leads And promising solid tech support in the event of anything emerging in the first wee while of ownership. And letting you have it for a full rehearsal with no deposit. And allowing swap back and full trade in if you change your mind on amp or cab based on the prices discussed. And paying by cheque. All in all, a milk 'n honey tone powerhouse dark chocolate thunderstack that you personally chose in preference to some of the stuff you have listed in your brief.
3. If it is lucky... ..why did the neck warp?
4.
the Ampeg combo + £ sounds very interesting, which model is it ?
Ummmm.... ...B210
5. Ampeg USA B210 combo + £? Trace AH200 Ser6 head + 1153 cab £?
6. No bigger full-on bass sound than a Trace MkV. There is one in for sale for £300 with a set of drivers. Buy it and I'll take the speakers! Or an AH250 head. From the days when Trace defined British bass. Blows an Ashdown 500 away. These are around for sub-£300. Thing to note: my tech was inside an Ashdown mini head today. Cracks in circuit board from board mounted heat sink = bounce/flex/split. Basic design flaw - and you'll see it in other models and by other makers. GUARANTEED future breakdown and repair costs. GUARANTEED. Beware.
7. Errrmmm.... I supplied 5 PM premium Chinese 12AX7s at only £9 each. They reside under their can covers behind the shielding plate. Also, the amp has had the bias adjusted to take a range of valves. If they are new htey whould just pop in and be happy together. SC120s have 6 valves, so nothing is overworked. I have seen them running on only 2 valves. Pushing about 22 watts. Loud as &*%$ still. And those partridge transformers didn't care a jot. It is only the goofy active preamp that keeps them from being boutique grade classics. And you can strip that out and replace it - or put in a bypass and run them with an outboard pre... Cheers Chris PS Plenty more Sound Cities in the stack...
8. There was one in Adtrader for MONTHS at £250. It was the lift... ...adn the fact that it is louder than legal for 'most anyfink Sweet
9. I can do a Bridge 100w combo to match it....
10. The man is on the case!
11. Deal pending....
12. If a studio project guy comes back to me, I will talk it up. These are 'must haves' for live recording and 'real' gig prep. Also good for hire. If I was near, I would not be able to resist.... ...and I would add on the 1810 with flightcase (you know the one!)
13. The Mesas at £50 shipped and PayPal? Cheers
14. Two funkies...
15. Two funkies
16. It was bought new in the autumn. It is pending follow-through on an offer of £650.
17. If not into swaps, then happy to sell for £55 delivered. ...just that swaps are usually more fun...! It is a superclean condition earlier model. Like this:
18. Still have the Ampeg B210 combo.
19. GONE It was in a local shop and they got £450 quite quickly. Early '80s Tokai Jazz Sound on the go at the moment: Clean as a whistle from the time of the JV Squiers. £500(ish)
20. Black Widow 15" is worth £100 on its own. £250 less adjustment for the cosmetics, methinks. Already have one, tho' - 3rd I've had - all well poundy. If anybody ever wants the powered 2x10 top cab....
21. I've had 2 400w heads. They are big, heavy and awesome. I can't believe the new ones can match them for build quality - and I know the valves won't cut it the same way the old Gold Lions did it. Cost is now around £600 to revalve it with the good stuff. But still way huge.... The 200w - same story. I have 2 old ones that I think are worth the £1500. I would take an old one with a clean set of old British KT88s over a new one, even if there is a re-cap job on the horizon. And mine come with a valve set worth £300+.... Anyway - fantastic tone.
22. I had a fretted one - what a great thing. Got £340 a couple of years ago. Pity Sound Control threw them down the tubes with their stupidly low pricing strategy. Schecters are generally well built, highly playable and top sounding. Maybe not like the '80s strat and tele things, but max bang for buck.
23. Resolved...
24. Boss DF2 Solid £60 worth...
