What a thread! Lots of interesting views and experience. Not seen the Behringer system before - looks quite good. What works best for one person only using IEM's the Fischer or Behringer? I would support the theory that generally you get what you pay for. Have used LD 100 budget system but quality was poor. Went to a wired system using Fischer headphone amp, very flexible. Now using Behringer Personal Monitor System 16. Good value and ideal when some band members want to do IEM and others want wedges. And like so many on this thread I use ACS earphones (custom). The advantages with using custom made earpieces is that no person's two ear canals are the same size so with 'of the shelf' earplugs/phones etc. one will alway fit better than the other. Also hearing protection is a major factor to consider and therefore good fitting ear moulds help here too.
Would you like to sell it then?
Pfew??? I really can't comment on that. It has been more than 4 years I last powered it up. Since then it sits unused in my closet, Sorry.
Sorry to hear that - good job that you can send it back! In the end I opted for the Funkulator as it seemed a much simpler solution. Will let you know how it performs.
I just got my Source Audio EQ, played it for less than 3 minutes and I'm sending it back. It's DSP - digit processing. As I expected, it killed the tone of my bass, squashed it and took out the natural space in the notes. I tried it through headphones as that's how I'd mostly use it. For many players it would most likely be less noticeable through an amp, but I have a deep hatred of digital pedals ( or natural tone altering pedals) that kill the sound of a bass I love. Next..... Cool. It's ok I didn't see that! Liked the link ref Flea's board great to see what the pro's get up to. I thought the taped control knobs was great!!

Thanks for the reply. Would be really keen to know how you find the Source Audio? I think I need to have some ability to boost the bass frequencies too, it's not just the volume that drops off!!
Not tried the Funkulator, but I just bought a Source Audio EQ literally about 10 mins ago. A little worried as its DSP technology so I wonder if it'll digitise my tone. Luckily mail order has its pluses when returning gear you don't like... The MXR Micro Amp is a great simple solution, second hand they are cheap enough too. I use one on my electric guitar all the time and have used them on bass many a time, I think Flea might use one as a slap boost too. It'd be good if you just need more volume a touch of depth, but the Source Audio would let you sculpt the sound more if you need.
Looking for something to help fatten out my tone when switching from finger style to slap in various numbers in our set. Been looking with interest at the Funkulator - anyone tried one or using one live? Alternatively it's been suggested that the Source Audio programmable EQ is a better solution to the problem. Any thoughts anyone?

Snap - didn't even know that Tecamp made one!
Tried the P&D one on the Sunday morning before the show opened and was really impressed with it. Did not try the Tec Amp version because I did not see it until the break down.
-

Not a worry for me - I am as visually boring as John Deacon!! Out of interest what does the Tecamp Please Board cost?
I was gutted I wasn't well enough to come to the show as this is the product I was interested in. I'd like to know how it compares to the tecamp pleasure board. I know that p&d have been pushing this - but it's not new tech - but maybe they've taken it somewhere over and above the pleasure board. Of course, the big downside of this type of monitoring system is that it kinda cements you to the spot - which can be a little visually boring.
-
London Bass Guitar Show - 7 & 8 March 2015

I popped in for a couple of hours yesterday having not been since the first show in 2011. I felt that that the show has progressed a little since then and seemed to be laid out better and also well attended. As others have said it is very noisy in the halls and that has to hamper the buying of guitars and effects as without headphones you are screwed! Some very nice stuff on show though, liked the look of the Martinscott basses on the George Martin stand and also the 2nd ever made Stingray on the MusicMan stand too. Spent some time with the legend Mr Goodfellow and looked at the new Merlin bass which was gorgeous. I think I must be in the lucky position that I love my bass and amp and have no desire to change any of them so my wallet stayed firmly shut! I did really like the Porter and Davies product and feel that would really enhance my gig enjoyment but not sure that I could stump up £1k easily for that pleasure. Hope everyone else enjoyed the show? -

Is it me or does there seem to be far fewer trade stands this year? -

Sounds good - so is it the best filter ever? Does it sound better than the original Mu-Tron?
Well I picked up my MuFx Tru Tron (or Mu Tron 3x as they're known in Europe) late last year. With the built in pre-amp it's a very powerful filter, more flexible than the original unit with a much wider sweep, the down sweep on the Tru Tron is also one of the strongest I've heard on a filter pedal. I'd be keen to hear thoughts on the Octave Divider, that is on my GAS list!
Selling my EBS Reidmar head - great little bass amp, really powerful and yet really light too which means you can get the killer EBS tone but without having to break your back! This amp has never been gigged, still has its original packaging and box and is in as new condition. More about the amp can be found here - http://www.ebssweden...ent/reidmar.php I am also selling my EBS neo 212 cab and the two together make for an awesome rig.

I have decided to move on my EBS Neo 2x12 cab, it's an awesome cab - really light but with a thunderous bottom end but also able to give you those glassy highs too with the right head. More about EBS neo cabs can be found here: http://www.ebssweden...ent/neoline.php I have only used this cab at rehearsals and never gigged with it so its in great condition. The Reidmar head is also up for sale - see my other items for sale.

I have decided to sell my beloved Mu-Tron III envelope filter as it just is not getting the use that it deserves. This is the real deal, made by Musitronics and not the awful Haz Labs re-issue. Sounds amazing and is the holy grail when it comes to envelope filters, Stevie Wonder, Gerry Garcia and Bootsy Collins can't all be wrong! I have had this pedal worked on by Richard at Lingenberg Sound in the States who is the absolute master at on these pedals. He has done his highly recommended work which includes, re-calibration, true bypass enabled, 9v power powered (so that it runs easily on your pedal board) and also a blue LED that shows clearly when the pedal is engaged. More about Richard and his work can be found here - http://lingenbergsou...-Trom%20Service It's in great condition for it's age, works flawlessly and sounds great.

TC Electronic is definately better than Markbass !!
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to cliffyspliff's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have been using Mark Bass LM3 with a GB Rumour and MM Stingray for a few years now and it works perfectly for funk/disco type stuff that I play, really warm and deep sounding. TC RH750 just did not work for me in this setting so perhaps better suited for rock stuff? -
Just how do you get a slap tone like this?
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in General Discussion
Looking for it now!
There is one in the classifieds right now.
-

Watching some F bass clips on You Tube it really does seem to deliver "that sound"!! Anyone used one - they sound bloody great to me.
Marc Pero usually plays an F bass.
-
Just how do you get a slap tone like this?
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the tips - I love slapping at home but live just ain't no fun anymore! I have a jazz with an East pre in too so will give those settings a whirl and see if I can get somewhere near. I have been using the Compressor to try and beef the sound for slap but without great results. -
I was listening to this track on the way to work this morning and just wondered how on earth you get such a great slap tone? I am increasingly finding that when I slap live, all of the bottom end drops out of my tone and our sound feels really compromised. It's got so bad for me that now I play slap lines with finger style to avoid this frustration! Bearing in mind this is a live recording it's a hell of a tone and the thumbed parts really drive the bottom end of their sound - any tips on how to replicate in a live environment would be welcome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxauXywSfcU
