1. Yep is true or you can even have jazz bass pickups too if you wanted!! GB could be a good way to go but once you start using one everything else sounds a bit tame in comparison!!
I was actually on the phone to EBS Freak earlier who has a few GB basses, he said Bernie would make me a Spitfire with a MM pickup in the MM spot if I wanted!
2. Tough one this Pete. I have had similar thoughts about all of my basses at one time or another and even more so with a new GB Rumour only a matter of weeks away! Bottom line is that they can probably all be replaced again if you feel you missed them. There seems to be a lot of Pre EB's about at the moment and some nice ones too. To complicate things more I may think of moving on my Classic 5! I bought it because it looked great and I wanted a 5 string version of my pre EB like you and also it was built the day before my son was born so I thought it would be great thing to have for sentimental reasons but god only knows if he would ever really want it as he is only 2! Bottom line is that I can't see much of a reason to have two 5 strings as well as the others. Still I guess we should all be thankful that we are lucky enough to have too many basses!
 3. Seriously thinking of making some amp changes again and may let my faithful Mark Bass LM3 go to a good home. Bought brand new a couple of years ago from Mark at Bass Direct and is in good condition with all original box and packaging. It is just a feeler at the moment to see what interest there is in it. Can post pics if needed.
 4. It is going to be a sprayed lacquer just like my last one - decided against hand painted yellow in the end! You're more than welcome to come over and have a play when I get it.
That walnut looks amazing, front and back.nice combo of woods mark, should sound the biz..is it an oiled finish or sprayed laquer?or the hand painted yellow?never had the chance of playing one of bernies basses.def top draw mark.be nice to get it for the next gig.cheers Andy. 5. Yep that's it - couldn't remember the bloody name for it!!
Birds eye maple we calls it ...lovely !
6. Hate the colour love the sound!! Bought a TC RH750 recently but think the MB still beats it hands down. Great tone and so easy to usebut if they only put an MP3 player input!!!
 7. Maple - and highly figured maple at that!
 8. Popped into GB headquarters today and took a few pics of the new bass - should be ready in about a month now. So bloody excited!!
 9. I had 3 places offered to me by 3 different places to study a degree in music including The City of Leeds College of Music and I chose to pass them up and go travelling instead. I often wonder what they may have led to and how things would be different now, not just in terms of career but also playing ability.
 10. I might be interested in doing this for you if Myke's offer does not work out.
 11. We have just learnt this tune and our keys player nailed the intro and it sounds great so I would tell him to get his act together rather than try and emulate it on bass! Agree with the comments on using 5 string, we play in the key it was recorded in so you are looking at Eb and on a 4 string it does sound a bit pap. I have come up with a bassline somewhere near to the original but also adding in a bit of my own stuff to make it more our sound. It is hard because as said before it is all synth and no real bass so really hard to copy even with the Deep Impact on!
 12. Having gone through most filters from a 70's MuTron through to a Chunk Systems 00 Funk with some MXR and Maxon in between I would say that the Aguilar Filter Twin is the best around. It is small, sounds great with any bass and has a real depth of one equally as good as a MuTron IMHO. I used it in the studio recently and you can hear what it sounds like below. https://soundcloud.com/soular-funk/get-up
 13. Still sorting out finer details on finish but yellow paint is still in contention!
 14. I know - I don't think any of the others will see much use! Hoping for some more up to date pics next week.
bet you cant wait 2 pick it up.sweet Mark.cant see you picking the mm5 up when you get this baby?
15.
were waitinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.any new pics mark?gonna be a beaut.
16. All good things Andy!! Just remembered that I have had some from Bernie a few weeks ago so will go and find them and post in a moment. Should be about another 6 to 8 weeks so I understand.
 17. Have you checked out the stuff that he has done recently with Joey Negro and The Sunburst Band on The Secret Life Of Us album -it's awesome.
i so on that.. thanks Floyd... i love Julian Cramptons playing, as do i love Mr Biondi's voice
18. One of my all time fave bands. First heard Tribes, Vibes & Scribes when I was 19 and still listen to and love it now 19 years later! By coincidence I am just listening to the interview that Bluey did with Trevor Nelson a couple of weeks ago on Radio 2.
 19. I came about this the other way around bought the fuzz, filter and octave but I could not get anywhere near the sounds that you get from the Deep Impact!! £700 is over the top but as Molan says there is kudos and mystique about these pedals and short supply so of course the price is going to only go up - surely not much more though!
Yes, it's a pretty unique tone and i enjoyed mine, but for that kind of money you can buy a top of the range analog fuzz, octave and filter pedal and have something far more usable and far more versatile. I just don't get it.
20. Best synth pedal ever without a doubt - love mine but not sure I would have paid £700 for one!
They are rare... supply and demand! Also one of, if not THE best synth bass pedal out there - so I've been led to believe. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/206559-akai-sb1deep-impact-boxed-l700/ In any case they are worth whatever buyers will pay for them.
21. Met up with Nick last week and we did a deal on some TC amps - top man, real easy to deal with and his amp was in A1 condition just as described. Deal with in total confidence folks.
 22. Just interested to know why you opt for the Fralin p/ups over the original Fenders?
 23. Awesome playing and so well thought out. Have an album on cassette somewhere that I bought in the States going to go and dig it out now. His son isn't too shabby on the drums either!!
