1. Just listed one in for Effect For Sale section my friend!
 2. I bought this brand new from Bass Direct just after xmas so it really is in brand new condition. A great pedal which offers you the renowned feature on Mark Bass amp heads the variable pre-shape filter (VPF) along with a signal booster (up to + 20db) in a handy stomp box. The VPF is great for scooping the mids from your tone and giving you a deep tone for slap etc sort of Marcus Miller/Mark King esque sound. This pedal has been on my board but is in as new condition and comes with all of the original paperwork, instructions and packaging so is totally mint. More detail on the pedal can be found here: http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=214 These are retailing at £100 + P&P so looking for £70 + P&P.
 3. Up for sale is my EBS Black Lable Uni-Chorus pedal. Fantastic pedal, produces lush chorus and can be switched over to run as a flanger is less than a bilisecond. Bought this a few years ago and has been on my board but very well looked after and comes with all original packaging and instructions - definitely in mint condition. Price is £75 + postage. 4. Moving on my EBS Multi Comp which I have had for a few years now and has never let me down. Comes with original box, packaging and instructions and as with all my gear has been well looked after and is in mint condition. £80 + Postage - SOLD!! 5. Cheers for all the tips and advice guys, I have taken some onboard and am going to try these along with the acquisition of a new pedal!!
 6. Just set the box to record it - thank you!
 7. How do I find out if point 2 is happening?
Could be one of two things. 1) Your notifications are being re-routed to your junk mail folder. Have a look in there. 2) A problem with some accounts was spotted recently where the notifications just aren't being generated. You might be one of these.
8. Any idea why I am not getting email notification of any PM's or replies to topics that I am subscribed to? I have not altered any settings on my account.
 9. Are you looking for any trades at all?
 10. I have the BH250 and am seriously looking at the RH450, perhaps there is a deal to be done here? PM me if interested in discussing further?
hey, has anyone had the RH450 and gone on to the BH250? I have a RH450 (with a RS210) at the moment, and whilst I love it, I really like the tone print feature and thinking maybe the price difference between what I could sell my RH450 for and buy a BH250 for, could go nicely towards a RS112.... but I'm just wondering if I'm gonna be disappointed. Can't find anywhere to try one out yet Cheers
11. I have no problem with a compressed sound at all. At the moment I am using a Mark Bass MB Boost and EBS Multi Comp but it just sounds so "synthetic" when engaged. The strange thing is that when playing alone I really like my tone/sound for both finger style and slap particularly from the '77 Stingray but when with the band the slap sound just loses everything.
It depends on what you like. I like my slap tone both fat and tight, heavily compressed. The compressor I use is particularly good for this, on account of its features. It's a Trace Elliot SMX Dual Band Compressor. Because it's dual band it is possible to set the level of compression of the highs and lows individually (each is foot-switchable which is handy when changing between slap and finger style), and it has an eq sweep control which emphisises either highs or lows. Ramping up the compression and setting the eq dial 3/4 into the bass hemisphere gives a FAT slap tone, no mistake. It's also worth noting that I set the low compression to 10 and the high compression to 7 (that's on a scale of 1 to10, there's no numbers on the pedal).
12. I have never used flats but always imagine that they will be a bit dull when playing finger style?
Use flats, I love the fatter tone of slapped flats compared to rounds, a much fuller, almost kickdrum-esque thud. You lose zing at the top, but not as much of the highs as you'd perhaps expect.
13. I am increasingly beginning to hate my sound when slapping! As soon as I switch to my thumb I find that all of the bottom end and volume seems to go from my sound. I have tried unsing compressors and a pre-amp pedal to compensate but what I am then left with is a very artificial sounding tone that I don't really like. I like to have the bass control on my guitars up high so no option to dial more bass by hand and then back off again. Does anyone have any advice or solutions on this one?
 14. As above, I converted about two years ago and have never looked back. What I love about them is that when new they don't have that over the top zing that non- coated strings have but that fresh sound lasts for bloody ages. I am thinking of changing them on my jazz now and they must have been on there for 18 months! It's a no brainer and I don't understand why people use non coated strings now? Personally, I think that all that nonsense about the coating coming off was myth made up by the other manufacturers to protect their market share! It really does pay to shop around though, my local music shop sells them for £43 a set but I get them onlin for £29 and find that Stringbusters or Strings Direct always have them in stock and deliver really quickly too.
 15. I think it depends on who serves you down there! A few years back I spent a Saturday morning down there with Martin (owner) and he could not have been more helpful, letting me try loads of amp and cab variations until I found what I wanted. Needless to say I spent a small fortune that day!!
 16. Had a good look tonight - all pick up springs are in place and the thread is there as the screw goes in perfectly without the pick up and does not pull out which was my worry. Looks like superglue is the only option!
Put a dribble of super glue on the thread, it will come out if you need it to no problem, that said I haven't had that problem. Are the pickup springs in place?
17. I had that exact problem on a Sterling I had a few years ago but have to say that it is not apparent on the two that I have now. What is obvious though is that on the pre EB when the screw in the pick up come loose and it angles up at the E string then the bottom end is boosted massively so I would definitely suggest angling the pick up to be closer to the string on the G side and that should help.
Ok! Good luck with it! As to my problem, both of my rays aren´t balanced from string to string... The G has no "body" when compared to the E string. On my P-basses or J basses the string balan ce is way more even... I´ve been living with thsi situation since I´ve got the 88 (more than 10 years ago) and I´ve been told that this is normal on these basses... What do you think? Thanks
18. Will have a look at the screws tomorrow and see what is what. I don't think anyone would mind if you post about your problems with your Stingrays here particularly as on of them is pre EB.
I never had any problem whatsoever. I think the best idea is to remove the pickup and see what is causing that problem (after all to put the glue you need to do that.) BTw, is This the best thread to put a problem I have with both of my Stingrays, or should I pur«t it on a diferent topic? Gunsfreddy, as to the springs you really need to take the pickup out. One other thing, do the pickups screws, screw directly to the wood or are there any metal inserts ( I had a Warwick SS2 that one of the metal threads came loose, so tighten the screw was uselles-I had to glue the thread back to the wood)
19. I did think about that but was worried that if I did that I would not be able to adjust it or get it out if I needed to! How do I tell if the pickup springs are in place?
Put a dribble of super glue on the thread, it will come out if you need it to no problem, that said I haven't had that problem. Are the pickup springs in place?
20. Anyone ever had a problem with the screws in the pickup coming undone? By the end of a rehearsal one of them has come so loose that the pickup has raised up so much that it nearly touches the strings which is a real pain. Not sure whether to replace the screw or what!!
 21. Been using my '77 a lot recently and it sounds fantastic - such an awesome tone!
 22. Probably going to be ash Andy. Should get some fingerboard pics very soon.
Nice top Mark, what you got underneath ash, alder.shes going 2 be a beaut, cant wait 2 see the end result.
23. I thought it was English Burr Walnut!!
 24. Just embarking on a new GB bass and this time it is a Rumour 5 string. This is the wood that I have chosen for the body facing - should be able to post some fingerboard pics soon.
