Mark Bass heads work really well with the Bergantino cabs but it really does depend on what sort of tone you are tying to get from your bass for the music that you play! 12" cabs are really popular at the moment as they give a nice defined bottom end but still cope with the mids and highs too - I love 'em. As Chris b says the Aggie cabs are really nice and very portable too but to my ears when I A/B'd them again the Berg's they just sounded a bit shallow. Let us know what stuff you are playing and I am sure that we will all give you a suitable suggestion!! Yeah it could work becuase if the only option of a programmable board is the Gigrig or Octaswitch then a 3 or 4 loop option pedal could be the only other alternative. Can you buy them in the UK? Not sure where the post from Phi.i.Stein went but the Wounded Paw Super Blender looks interesting - could well do the job?

Do any of you pedalheads have any suggestions for a pedal switching system like the Gigrig Pro-8 or the Carl Martin Octaswitch Mark 2. I am looking for something like this which is programmable with dip swithes etc but on a smaller scale like 4 loops etc that would then fit on a Pedaltrain 2. Does such a thing exist or am I dreaming?!!!

Going to try and get to Bass Direct on Friday to try one of these out.

Yeah I have noticed that when you turn the dial around it goes to a menu called User, does that mean that it only dials in your sound when you turn it to that position and when you move off that it goes back to the presets? Stuart Zender used an old Boss ME8B on the first two Jamiroquai albums and that was how he got the nice funky squelchy sounds! I had a Q-tron but have to admit that the Mutron III is a much better pedal. I would still be keen to try a Soundblox Bass Envelope Filter Pro though to see how that compares. Since that post I have rigged up the MBSS to my laptop and had a play but have to say I was a little overwhelmed! Do you know why the oscillators cannot be altered on some of the existing pre-sets? Agree that saving a sound does seem a little longwinded! Funnily enough, I have just bought and LS-2 and am in the process of trying to work out what to do with my signal, I was going to run my whole board through the loop and then just mix A + B when using the synth to mix in more bottom end with my dry signal. Might try what you suggest though as an idea!

Recently bought a Boss LS-2 from Steve, perfect condition and posted uber quick too - would highly recommend.

Excellent band - we used to do a cover of Joyous when Zang Tang was going, loved playing the bassline in that one!

Yes I know I am a wimp but I have managed to get my gear downsized enough that I can get in and out of a venue with all my gear in one trip! Taken years to do this and not about to go back on that now! My pedalboard is the worst bit though - too damn heavy! I have always liked the sound from EBS amps but the weight of them put me off, this could now be a contender for me! Wonder what it would sound like with my 'Berg cabs? Problem is that the pre-sets just don't do it for me live! I do have a Boss OC-2 but I am running it before the Synth as that is widely acknowledged as the best place to have it - perhaps I will not just have to get the Aguilar Octamizer that I have GAS for so that I can put it afterwards and run to octave pedals!!! I hear what you say but it you are covering a tune with a synth bass sound then you can't start telling the rest of band to play it differently so that everyone can hear me!! I am having big problems with the clip light on the gain side - it seems to stay on nearly all the time even when turned practically off. I have been using it with the MM Stingray 5 and just assumed that the signal was a little 'hot'? Not sure why this is? Does that affect the tone from the pedal? Recently bought one of these and whilst I love the sounds that it can make I am struggling to get a sound that cuts through live with my band. Anyone else using one and got any tips on how to overcome this? I know you can plug it into the laptop and adjust all of the parameters etc but I am not sure this will solve the fact that I seem to be losing bottom end when it is engaged. Cheers.

Jon bought my MXR envelope filter off me a few days ago. Absolute gent to deal with, honest and to the point and an extremely prompt payer. Would have no hesitation recommending him to anyone.
