Porter & Davies MK 1 KT Platform - original size and spec with LED lights on the corners, will run from any standard amp up to 150w or via the P&D Gigster. The KT Platform is In great condition, just one small scuff which I have photographed. It’s just been serviced and checked over this week by Mr Tim Porter himself so is in tip top condition. Comes with a custom made carry case for the board. If you have not tried one of these yet then you are in for a treat as they are amazing pieces of kit and will revolutionise the way that you play live or in the studio. Would prefer pick up from Cheltenham but do travel to Midlands and London for work regularly so could drop off or meet up.

**SOLD** EBS HD350 amp for sale

These strings have been on my bass (Spectorcore) for approximately 5 hours today after I got round to fitting them - they were a Xmas present. The tone is great but just not for me so have put my rounds back on the bass just now. Price reduced to £25 as see no point in looking at them sitting in the cupboard - that’s less than half price for strings that are 100% as new. Reduced again to just £20 - these are as new, not more than a quick 10 minute noodle on them! Will include postage for this price too.

I’m moving on my trusty HD350 that has served me well for many a gig - it’s in great condition, always been housed in a hard carry case and never been driven too hard at all. Wonderful amp, tone to die for and a staple piece of kit for so many pro players. This is the 2 - 8 Ohm version. Will sell with the Gator carry case for the asking price. Collection in Cheltenham or can courier too at buyers expense.

Digging this thread up again - I joined a Kate Bush tribute band back in February this year and have had to learn a lot of these tunes, invest in a fretless and learn how to play the damn thing too. Agree that John Giblin is one hell of a player!

I'm moving on my trusty EBS Proline 4x10 cab - I'm not sure there is a lot to say about these cabs that has not been said before! Amazing tone, hugely powerful and an industry standard go to cab for those that like the very best. It's in great condition (I try really hard to look after all of my gear) and works perfectly. Comes with a custom made "dolly" to make transportation a doddle. I'm based in Cheltenham but do travel around with work so might be able to deliver depending on location etc. IMG_6889.HEICIMG_6890.HEICIMG_6891.HEICIMG_6892.HEICIMG_6893.HEICIMG_6894.HEICIMG_6895.HEICIMG_6896.HEIC IMG_6889.HEIC IMG_6890.HEIC IMG_6891.HEIC IMG_6892.HEIC IMG_6893.HEIC IMG_6894.HEIC IMG_6895.HEIC IMG_6896.HEIC

Opted for the Bright Onions solution in the end - should be here in a few days.

Thanks guys, also found this - anyone tried or use their stuff? http://www.brightonion.co.uk/ab/

Hi all, I need to switch between fretted and fretless on gigs and looking at best way to do this as quickly as possible. Quite interested in the Tonebone BigShot, anyone used one of these or got another solution that they can recommend?

Fretless bass - tips on technique required!
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Theory and Technique
Thanks guys for the advice given - really interesting stuff. So, had a rehearsal on Tuesday night and first run through of one tune with loads of fretless lines in it. What became very apparent is that all of the notes on the B E and A string shone through but anything on the D and G string and in particular the upper register was completely lost, lacking in bass, volume and clarity. I’m guessing this means a set up and some adjustment to the pickup height if that is possible on this bass? It was a nightmare trying to boost and cut volume for different sections of the same song. -
Hi all, So, I've got involved with a project that needs fretless bass on a few numbers, initially wasn't too phased by that as had had fretless before and don't remember it being too bad. I read and watched some online videos and opted for a lined neck to make things easier for myself. Not sure if it is my age but I'm finding it tricky to remember to play on the line to get the right notes, some have said that without lines it's easier because you play more instinctively but I'm not sure that I believe that! The main issue that I am having is that I can't seem to get that really nice smooth sound that you hear on records - I thought that it was all down to heavy chorus but even that doesn't help me much. The vibrato in the left hand on the fretboard seems to be a big part of it and I am working on that. My main questions are: 1/ Do flatwound strings make much of a difference to getting that sound? 2/ Am I struggling to get a nice warm tone because I scrimped on the bass (Ibanez SGR) my fretted basses are all over £2k. Any tips and advice gratefully received.

Looking good - any idea on price yet?

Some great thoughts and comments here guys. If any of you are interested we did a teaser of the new KB tribute band last night using a live stream from the singer and keys player on Facebook. The link is below and I’d be really keen for any feedback good or bad from proper fans of her work - thanks.

Yes, it is me that is involved with a new KB tribute band - more info here http://www.momentsofpleasure.co.uk/

It’s amazing how KB is so Marmite - very few artists that divide opinion in such a way.

Two of my absolute favourites. I love Kate Bush's music, and these tracks have some superb bass playing on them. I used both at BIMM last year as examples of great fretless playing. Must transcribe! Stu

Anyone had experience of these https://www.dawsons.co.uk/ibanez-sr375ef-spot-run-5-string-bass-guitar-brown-burst?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm-bA8_G_4AIVRrDtCh2kaAXPEAQYASABEgKOjvD_BwE Seems ridiculously cheap!

Evening all, I need to get a fretless bass for a new project I’m working with - don’t want to spend a fortune on it. Anyone got any recommendations for 5 string lined fretless that plays well? I have some nice basses so don’t want to compromise too much on this - have a Musicman Classics 5 that I never play but don’t think you can just change necks to a fretless can you?
