Going to listen to this today. I also found out yesterday that there was a bonus track on the Cog CD In Search of Better Days called Liberation Groove, it’s a killer track but for some reason doesn’t appear on my physical CD! Whilst talking about new music I listened to the album Le Chic Remix by Dimitri From Paris this week, there’s some really clever work on old tracks but they have boosted most of ‘Nards lines in the mix and you can hear them so much better. It’s awesome.

My name is Mark and I’m a SWR aholic too!

Wish I had seen this before placing an order 2 weeks ago! I used to use them all the time and they were fantastic but this time, took the money, no strings, no answering phones, no reply to e-mails and no response to comments on social media! Have insitgated a refund through my credit card company which should be back in my account next week. Ordered through Strings Direct and they arrived the next day. Lesson learnt - read Basschat before ordering anything online.
-
Yep, had a 74 Jazz bass and one of those pedals and sounded great - only down side was that I needed 5 strings!
-
Would that get you into the realms of the classic “Marcus” sound?
-
Was the SWR Red Face basically the amp from the Red Head combo on its own?
-
Thanks guys - some interesting thoughts here. I only play 5 string so beginning to think that the pre Fender or V 1 might not be for me. Weight is not an issue as it will probably be for home use only. I have 5 SWR cabs at the moment and love them when paired with my EBS HD350 buy really keen to see what the SWR amps and cabs together are like. Can appreciate that the Class D stuff is lighter buy yet to find one that gives me that tone that I am looking for - even the new Mark Bass Marcus stuff sounds bad!

Evening all, Can anyone advise if there really is any noticeable difference in tone between the SWR Redhead and the Super Redhead? I'm keen to learn more about these amps and what sound you can get from them. If anyone has an experience of pre/post Fender difference in tone it would also be good to hear. Thanks

I’ve got two Working Pro 2 x 10’s and two Working Mans 1 x 10’s and love the sound from them so wonder what drivers were in them as I’d be happy with them in another set up.
-
It's a real shame that SWR were not clear who's drivers they used so that direct replacements could be found. Having never changed the drivers in any cabs that I have owned I don't really know what impact it has. My nightmare scenario would be to change the drivers and find that it changed the redhead tone massively.
-
Does changing the drivers alter the sound much though?
-
Evening all, Can anyone tell me what brand of speakers/drivers were standard fit in the SWR Redhead combo? Or alternately what makes a good replacement if the original ones are knackered without sacrificing the gorgeous tone that these amps are renowned for. thanks

The CT100 arrived yesterday and tested all of my jack cables. When they are connected it makes 5 lights come on with one of the 5 right in the middle. Two of the cables when connected had the middle dot missing - does that mean they are faulty?
-
It turns out it was the mono jack output from the TC Electronic Chorus pedal - the stereo out is quiet as anything. Typical that I found that out after taking apart my whole board and all the wiring! I have no idea what suddenly caused that output to fail. Very annoying but at least I found it in the end. I did invest in the Behringer CT 100 which should arrive today and there is no doubt that that is a useful bit of kit to always have in the gigbag.

PSU is the Diago Power Station and the pedals are as follows: Aguilar Filter Twin MXR Bass Filter TC Electronic Chorus TC Electronic Polytune Boss OC2 Akai Deep Impact SFX blender/looper Rodenberg GAS 707B It's always performed perfectly and never had any noise from it at all which is frustrating. The cable tester seems like a good idea. I've not used one before so a useful thing to invest in. Need to get my detective hat on!!

Evening all, I have been using a Diageo power supply for years and never had any issue with it at all. On NYE I was running through some songs at home and forgot to turn off the PSU do it was left on all day. When I set up for our gig that night we realised that there was a horrendous buzzing coming from my set up so had to ditch the pedalboard and go straight into my amp which cured the problem. Is it possible that leaving it on all day could damage the PSU or perhaps one of the pedals on my board? I started trying to isolate to problem this evening and it's odd that with the two pedals that I checked first (TC Electronic PolyTune and Chorus) one worked fine with my regular PSU and with my back up but the other buzzed with the regular PSU and not with my back up. I'm confused as to what to check next!

Hard case/Flight case for gear - advice needed
Gunsfreddy2003 posted a topic in Accessories and Misc
Hello, I'm after some suggestions on cases (hard or flight really) to put gear in. I have some bits of equipment which cost a lot and I need to protect when I take out to gigs but neither have a hard case option from the manufacturer which is annoying. Anyone got tips or advice on what can be used in this situation? I've looked at custom flight cases but that's a really expensive route. I'm sure I've heard before about people using camera equipment cases which are provabsbky more economical. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. -
I'm interested to know more about the Headlite and Amplite and what is the difference between the normal Redhead and Super Redhead?
I'm also what you would class as an Swr fan too ! I currently own the following bits of Swr kit - Sm 400s 3 Goliath juniors Stereo 800 Grand Prix pre-amp Headlite & Amplite Super redhead Baby Blue II 1x10 combo I used to own - Sm400 Basic 2 way 1 x 15 cab Son Of Bertha 1 x 15 cab. I love the sound of the Swr cabs, back in the day, they were classed as light weight cabs. But for me they sound awesome. Lovely tone On the subject on their amps, some of them do run hot, but they were designed that way which their aluminium chassis which was meant to disperse heat efficiently. Their amps do sound very clean, I believe originally they were mainly designed to be studio & recording amps. They do lack a bit of grit & mid range, I use a sansamp to dial all of that back in when playing live. But lots of Swr love from me
Tactile monitoring - basically it uses your skeleton to amplify what you are playing through your body. In real terms, it makes it feel like you have an 8x10 cab right behind you when you can actually have no backline cabs at all. Loads more info on their website.
looks interesting.....errr....what is it?
Is that the 2x10 combo or just the head?
I have a Super Redhead. It is awesome.
