1. 15 watt Warwick blue cab. Very very throbby! I'm actually thinking of getting rid of my 'big' amp as because of the nature of my 'band' i play comedy gigs rather than music, which means if we were blastingly loud we'd blow everyone's ears - we usually go on last as its just sort of eaiser, but it means its people talking and then us... Last time we gigged i could barely get my amp turned down low enough!
2.
Well I do know Cat Glover, but I'm not too sure if she's still got his number!
She sounds more fun to be around anyway (after a quick google!). He's a short jehovah's witness, she's er, not. Win!
3.
Yes, you can - if I can be your bass tech.
Deal! Lets get Prince on the phone!
4. Having just been sent this on FB, can i join the NPG please? http://www.wat.tv/video/prince-dmsr-detroit-2004-59z63_2hztv_.html
5. My SR16 arrived! Very happy with it, it does exactly what i want - beats to play along to, with 'standard' patterns for various styles and no added faffing required!
6. This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIbLoT51PFo Made we want to try and make computers do music. Some really bad casio keyboard playing and an attempt to write a sequencer in BBC basic later, i found out about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNfbcSBib64 and didn't eat for a week so i could buy a guitar...
7. My upstairs neighbour only uses their flat as a 'crash pad' in The City (of plymouth - god knows where they live!) and is rarely there. I'll check for open windows or lights before cranking the octaver! My 'other' neighbour was always 'yeah yeah i love live music, yay hurrah!' and then came and yelled at me one time when he had a hangover... Er, you said it was okay dude, make your mind up? Luckily he either works or is out most evenings, and the layout of the building is that he's right at the front (on a main road, not quiet!) and i'm at the back. The buildings next door on both sides are derelict!
8. Loops in Mixxx are actually quite fun - but i just won a SR16 for 36 quid on ebay.... Hurrah!
9. I used to be in a goth band that used a Zoom Rt123 - unfortunately it left with the other bits of the band! Shame as its a nice machine. I am being somewhat disgruntled about buying a zoom just because of that, which is silly, but hey.. Currently i am fiddling with loading loops from looperman into Mixx, which is still driving me nuts, but is less irritating than trying to make my own 'beats'! I'm seriously considering a Korg beatboy, but am also trying not to spend money!
10. Ooh, thats actually quite cute!
11. Its definitely rather nice running the digitech as an octaver, clean and then fuzz on the other channel. Stuff falls over...
12.
No such thing! What's the little behringer box for?
Its a mono line level mixer. The bass synth wah goes to it clean out of the second output, and the rest goes fuzz->phaser->dirt and into one of the other inputs then it all goes out to the amp. Its a neat little thing!
13. Thanks for all the replies! I have found this: http://www.looperman.com/loops/cats/royalty-free-drum-loops-samples-sounds-wavs-download and am currently dumping loops into FL studio and/or pre-sonus studio one... Still quite like the look of the SR16 though!
14. What i'm after is something where i don't have to faff around with a keyboard and trackpad... Sadly it looks like just for sounds, 'beat box' boxes are going to be a bit duff... Looks like i'll be FL studioing it then!
15. Hi!I'm thinking of getting a drum machine for practicing along to. Silly thing is, i have two laptops, one for work, and a teeny netbook, both of which have FL studio and a bunch of other stuff on. The drum sounds are nice but i find the sequencing a faff, and would much prefer to be able to bash some drum pads to set up a rhythm. I don't want to spend loads though - would i be better off just knuckling down and learning to program FL studio properly, or can anyone recommend a not-expensive beat box with a nice mix of natural and old skool analog noises on? Thanks!
16. Hate Elbow, whinging 'ee up one day like this a year'll see me right' norhern moaning... Stop whining, get a shave, get some qualifications and stop going on about coal! There's this thing called 'climate change' you know!! Sam Smith and anyone else who sings like they're about to cry. Katie Melua. And i like 'proper' rap like what we had in the olden days, Public Enemy, NWA et al, but the newer 'bidges hoes and weed' stuff - yeah. Not so much...
17. Well, i'm glad i'm not the only one who doesn't know! Apparently it has a 'reverse logarythmic taper'. Yeah, that helps. I was never that good at maths!
18. Hi everybody! I've got a warwick blue cab 15, which is quite fab actually! However, one thing is driving me nuts: all the blurb i can find about it tells me it has an "innovative adaptive volume control" but nothing tells me what that is! My best guess is as it gets as loud as its going to get at about half volume, but then sort of 'warms up' in a growly compressiony sort of way if you turn it up more, that its something in the pre-amp that's not quite compression? It sounds nice anyway. But the only info i can find about 'adaptive volume' on google talks about cars and the stereo getting louder as you go faster, and its probably not that!
19. I've got one more bass than i need - Elderly P and flying V. I like the P best but the V looks so cool! I've got one less amp than i need though, but thats because i need one about the size of a shoebox that i can use as a travel amp, but has 'thud' and is loud enough! One bike though. 3 sets of handlebars, 3 sets of tyres. I just rebuild if for different jobs!
20. Emery boards - the disposable nail file types! That's what i've always used, they're designed to give a smooth finish and they're cheap...
21. First proper 'big girl's' pedal board! Cheap and dirty... ;D Unlike its owner, thank you!
22. When i realised all the really cool weird noises off sonic youth songs were kim gordon's bass, not guitars. And then i saw a thing where Henry Rollins was going on about p-funk and i looked it up. And was lost, forever...
23. I've got one of these. http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/302USB.aspx Runs off USB and is also a USB input/output so you can play sound off a computer or use it for a recording input too!
