Wireless IEMs: Xvive U4 & alternatives
Woodinblack replied to Al Krow's topic in Accessories and Misc
Its actually can be sort of like both, but a short length of cable works as a bit of a high frequency filter. Anyway, good that it is no longer causing an issue. I am a great fan of those. -
Wireless IEMs: Xvive U4 & alternatives
Woodinblack replied to Al Krow's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have never had a high pitched buzz on the XVive, but I have had a high pitched buzz on a wireless to the Zoom B1 (when it was plugged in) and on a different wireless. In all cases I found that putting a longer lead between the the wireless and mains powered device on a longer lead got rid of it. My XVive hangs out the back of my X18, but it is on the end of a 9" cable. -
I unlocked the one that you had from a few weeks ago, assuming that is the one. Easiest way in the future if you want one unlocked is just go to the post and report that you want it opened.

Sure if you provide some details
-
not if you have 18 basses it woudn't!

I would think so - I mean apart from tool who actually plays them now? If you look down the list of players on the tool webiste, of the living ones, Paul McCartney - haven't seen him play that in years, Geddy Lee - used one on one album and now just mostly plays a jazz (even to do those songs), Nick Beggs, used in Kagagoogoo but it isn't even on his equipment list any more, Bruce Thommas - pretty rare to see him without a red P bass like instrument, Flea - switches from fender to musicman, hasn't been seen with a wal for a long time, JJ Burnel, well, its either a black P bass or a Shuker copy of a black P bass. On their list I don't see any reall current artists. I am sure they will never be worthless and all the time there are more people who want them then can order them they will go up, but like a lot of 'investments', a lot of the value is in the perception that the value will go up
-
Of course it is the same to vintage fenders. A few years ago you couldn't give a 70s fender away, and now they go for crazy prices. There are certainly many orders of magnitudes more 70s and 80s fender basses than wals in their entire run. They can't be considered even slightly rare and you can buy a fender without waiting built the same way and save a fair bit. Obviously there are changes in the last 6 years or so that have added to 50% of the price to stuff, the fact our money is worth a lot less, but there is still a false idea of rare driving those prices up.
-
I am not sure why it is an issue - if you have £12k for a wal, buy it, you aren't hurting anyone, you aren't forcing other people to pay more for something. It is a crazy price to pay for something like that, but so are vintage fenders etc, all the time people buy them they will go up.

What year is it?

No, nothing I am aware of, unless the messages were sent by someone who was then subsequently blocked for sending spam - i havne't looked to see if that was the case.

Flatter - make your fretted bass a fretless, and back again
Woodinblack replied to phagor's topic in Accessories and Misc
Its £50 and just made for a jazz bass, so if you have a jazz bass, its not hugely off a set of strings to give it a try and see how it goes. Yes, there are flaws in the concepts, and I haven't got a jazz bass so I can't try it, but for what it is, if I did have a jazz bass, I would probably give it a try. -
I have gigged several times on a bass with a ramp. Presumably many other people who have ramps have too.

It doesn't contain egg, it is certified vegan (both the sausage and the pastry). There is quite a lot of vegan stuff at greggs, although it is still greggs!

my 2000 green euro has gold hardware but black knobs,

Probably not as the manufacturers would assume with your massive ape hands that need such wide spacing, weight wouldn't be an issue <runs>
-
because the normal sausage roll tastes so unlike an actual sausage roll, the vegan one tastes just the same!

Not really the nut is built in to the plastic, so it raises the whole lot, so probably not much to do. -

Oh I see it goes over the nut too. Only problem I see is that there is just one bass size, and no indications of what bass it is for? Oh read the FAQ, it is just for a jazz bass -

Clever idea, although it would have to be very thin over the frets to actually work on a well set up bass. Certainly would give it a try if I came across one. Not sure why there would be an intonation problem though, unless you had terrible action. -
Nah - 100 miles in the uk is like 500 miles in the states!

What has a professional bassist got, that I have not
Woodinblack replied to bass_dinger's topic in General Discussion
He really didn't - he died at 21, and he didn't really make a living out of playing the bass, he really earned it out of looking the part, so more being a fashion model than anything else. -
Doesn't really matter - if you put a pot over the input voltage with the centre of that pot going the C1/R2 junction (and the pot wound closer to the 0 to start), changing the position of the pot (ie, increasing the voltage) should change the output on TP1, which is connected to the drain of the fet - if it doesn't, the fet is no longer a fet. Actual values of the voltage don't really matter unless you are working out if the gain is what you expect, but currently you are just trying to see if it works.

I think sometimes your own personal impression of your behaviour can be very different from what other people see! -
Should be easy enough to check. If you don't have an oscilliscope, then just check the voltage at TP1 while putting a voltage on R2.

I think it is sensible to generalise. I mean, I doubt anyone is going to disagree that the UK would be just that bit better if Kent was sawn off and allowed to sink or drift in the sea.
