Before the were renamed Nevada, Telecoms were good too!

Sounds sort of ok to me, and close enough. However, I don't have the option, I physically do not have the space for a double bass, so even if I wanted one I couldn't have one, so this will be as close as it gets!
-
Ok, so I look, I get the 'choice' of french or german and the sizes are listed as 1/4 1/2 3/4 etc - is that really a size? I am guessing not 1/4 of the length! And I guess you have no way of working out what you need until you have spent money on something you dont

Oh I don't know, send them a rant with an angry 'why did this only last 36 years??' message and maybe they will send you a new one

So I have joined the group with my new NS Wav5. Been playing it tonight, and enjoying it (apart from I can't do too much as I sliced my finger open yesterday). So what are good starting learning resources? Videos etc? Great things to learn etc? Mostly playing with the fingers but I willl try the bow stuff. i have a bow, it came with a chinese violin that cost about £20 10 years ago, so not great, but until I know what i need, it will do!

The alpha juno 2 I think is most notible for the rave scene, which is one of its presets.
-
That one is almost certainly a DX7 - different from the bananarama one.
-
Yep, that is what I read. The alpha Juno 2 came out at the time they were recording that, so presumably it is one of its presets.
-
Seems you forgot to attach the recording to your post! The internet says alpha juno 2. So I would say most pop songs produced in 85-87?

Minor change, same problems, again, call them if you see problems!

Makes sense - i keep buying 4 string basses and selling them shortly afterwards, just seems like something is missing!

Well, there was a NS NXL 4 at the bass bash that I went to last week, and they truly are a thing of beauty. I am not particularly interested in actual double basses, even if there was any possibility I had space for one of those in my house. So now I am quite keen on getting one. There aren't that many second hand ones around at the moment, apart from the more expensive CR types (and from places where VAT is required), but I could stretch to a new Wav4 or Wav5. I never really thought about the idea of a 5 string db, but having seen them and what with the fact I only play 5 string basses, I thought that might be a good idea. Obviously if I get second hand I am restricted to what is around, but buying new there isn't that much of a price difference between them. Has anyone thought about the difference between 4 and 5 string in a double bass?

Very much agreed, it is their business, and they seem to be doing fine, big fish in a small pond and all that, and they are a valuable resource to have, but it is their choice how they run it.
-
Depends on the 95%. If I am in the 95% then I am happy, if I am in the 5% then obviously they don't want my trade and I go somewhere else. My wife runs and online shop, I know timewasters, who generate a large amount of the traffic, so it isn't a linear 95% of traffic you deal with, if you feel that something is not going to pan out (you could be wrong obviously). Not saying there is, but it doesn't bode well and there is an element of "If they don't care before I give them money, they sure aren't going to care once they have it"
-
Thats fine, they don't want my business, and that is their choice. If they can't handle the email contact level, probably best they remove that as an official contact method from their site.
-
100 times this - get so fed up with listening to people say 'oh well if they don't respond to your email, just phone them'. If they don't respond to my communication via a channel they have provided, then they don't want my business, simple as that. Maybe to be sure I will email them again. I will not phone, I will almost never phone.

The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash 2022 - Sunday 9th October
Woodinblack replied to scrumpymike's topic in Events
Maybe better if we have one picture with all the names under it, one person can take all the names and put them in the list? -
I am guessing a jazz with a slightly different body shape?

I wasn't refering to what is technically possible, obviously all threads can become locked if necessary. The wanted threads are different in that the whole forum is set up to not be replyable. And the downside of this is that any thread that you can't reply to can't get bumped so it was very quickly dissapear off the first few pages of the forum, so after a few days, the chances of anyone seeing it are pretty close to none - wanted is ok like that as people know what they are searching for, but for a normal thread it isn't really going to be seen unless someone does a search, and that only normally happens through google 10 years after the last post! This is of course just my opinion here, and if you want it locked then you can report your post and say what you want, then the mods can discuss it and see if it is something they wanted to do - I am not a mod so don't really have that much of a say (I am an admin, here to fix it when it breaks)

Agreed - you get 'cool' neighbourhoods where people want to live, but in doing so price out the sort of people that made it a cool neighbourhood, so these things move around.

Happy Hug a Bass Player Day - 12 October 2022
Woodinblack replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in General Discussion
Pff.. Hugging? Don't need any of that kind of malarkey, we aren't guitarists! -
Indeed, and you know it is him from the first time he opens his mouth, which is great for a singer, rather than just one of those generic rock voices. Personally it wasn't something I listened too that much but for the 'angry at their dads' middle class kids with no actual real problems it was perfect stuff, and it works well in the car. Our drummer does a great Fred Durst whine, we really should get round to doing 'break stuff' - except our guitarist isn't one for distortion!
