  1. Chris squire always played that way. Its actually easier to deal with now, if you have something like a helix (other brands are available) with stereo inputs you can just use a stereo to mono cable (or even a stereo wireless - lekato do one) and setup one channel per pickup, can probably get some good sounds that way. I use stereo quite a bit as the chapman stick is stereo, although that is more obviously useful as the bass comes out one side and treble the other, so processing is good and my rick is a 4004 so no ric'o'sound. Easiest way is if you have a 4003, just try it. All you need is a stereo to dual mono adapter which costs a couple of quid at most, and see if you can make a good sound with it that makes it worth it, don't be put off by what people who haven't tried it or it isn't part of their sound do, its what it sounds like to you that matters. I would certainly use it if I had it.
  2. You mean, january and it is a jazz, or you actually know it was made on the 7th some other way?
  3. I was going to say that it was worth it if it was around £1000 so you could do it up, then clicked the link. No!
  4. Well, if you feel you have missed a few notes, add some in later
  5. 3 (24 bits) * 12 (channels) * 96,000 (Hz) = 3,456,000 bytes / sec 32GB =29.802 GiB / 3,456k = 9259 seconds = 2:34:19 - so about 2 ½ hours in about 8 files I would assume.
  6. Even worse - if they were still alive, its something that wasn't good enough for them so they sold because it wasn't worth what they would get for it.
  7. yes - I have one of these. It is not just bluetooth, it does have a hardware midi connection and the use of its button is controllable by software (which is called cube suite). I couldn't find a manual but there is a page on the mod dwarf site which is basically how to connect it to a mod dwarf (obviously) but does cover its operation quite well which might be useful https://forum.mod.audio/t/midi-chocolate-controller-with-the-mod-dwarf-an-introduction/7003
  8. Well, yes, I don't know andy baxters shop at all, but he seems well regarded and you have some chance of a followup if something goes wrong. There are a large number of people selling on ebay that don't seem to understand that if the full retail price of something is £3k, selling at 10% off that isn't a bargain, when you aer not providing the options, support and piece of mind that a shop is. Especially when most shops sell 10% below RRP anyway
  9. The guitarist in my band has been having a trouble with his fender amp - he has had it 'repaired' 3 times (the last one he specifically said he didn't want anything replaced) and it still isnt working right.
  10. But even if it was fully right, why not save yourself a few quid and buy an absolutely brand new one from an actual dealer with a warantee and everything for that price? Its £50 cheaper from guitargutar, or £500 cheaper if you are happy with second hand for mint condition from andy baxter.
  11. Not sure I have anything much to speak of. There are a few basses that I wouldn't say no to, such as a 5 string status headless but they don't come cheap so there is a bit of a gap between cost and want that probably will prevent it. A better way to trigger synth lines. although TBH - I have all I need, if I just put it together into some giggable form!
  12. I need to get something done with my camera - its a bit dead at the moment, its a zoom but as is the way with a lot of stuff, anyone who ever decided that USB-Micro was a good idea for providing power to anything that was heavier than a lead needed their head examining. This looks good but nto sure I trust it to not be nicked by the crowd!
  13. Indeed, of the 643 Gibson '59 Les pauls that were made I think they have only managed to trace 2,000 of them
  14. Thats what I found. I also have a BAM200 amp and gnome 10" speaker that I put on the floor by the drum, but that not loud, it is just so that the rest of the band can hear it clearly. It is the PA that does the heavy lifting. Its also nice to have the stage space! It is true to say that the ric sounded fantastic out the front - well, and in my in ears - I am sure that some of the sound of the gig was because it was just really enjoyable and you just play better if you are having fun don't you
  15. Couldn't you just set the volume of the source? I just use it with my phone, turn the volume up or down for the source, and the volume knob for the bass
  16. `On the saturday night we had a gig in a local working mens club, we have played it many times.. Got a new rickenbacker on the friday, so it had to come, so going from the bass -> Mod Dwarf (svt model) -> X18 -> 2 x Evox 8. First setting it up for some reason it wasn't right, the microphones weren't at the right level, the sax was down and nothing was clear, 5 minutes before gig start it wasn't good, so I leveled all the microphones and started again, and then it was show time. All worked well, great gig and we were told it was the best bass sound they had heard in the club, not booming and filling the whole space. I am not sure how true that was but it was certainly the best bass sound that we had had, so I will take that!
  17. For a short while after brexit and before Thomman harmonised their tax collecing, they were on sale for 1350 euros - was keen then but they ran out and they have never had any back. Even with the taxes that would have been good.
  18. I also fell in love with it at (presumably the same) London Bass Show and I also couldn't dream of affording it, but luckily the following year when had done a lot of gigs and my gigging drawer was actually fairly full I looked on Shukers website and there it was, £1k cheaper than the london show, and although still not cheap, I managed to justify it to myself. It is still a thing of beauty, it plays very well and sounds good. And it still looks impossibly slender with that long front horn!
  19. The behringer circuitboard hasn't got that many componants on it, and is very easy to see what is there (seeing as you have to get the circuit board out to change the batteries). The Aliexpress harder as you have to take it apart - I am betting they are identical - there are like £5 of componants there at one off cost, I would think it would be pennies at production cost.
  20. Indeed - I had never seen that before, but yes, that is what the behringer is, right down to the exposed clip
  21. I am not a fan of the sire, but I actually do like the G&L
  22. I am sure it is easy enough if you have practiced it, but to be honest, I doubt I have ever listened to it all the way through and frankly we can mess up songs we have practiced so it wouldn't be an option. I just love the way random members of the public always say 'can you play this, its really easy', and they are always people who don't play anything and almost never can remember all the words anyway.
  23. Indeed - and I have had so many good comments about both the sound and people (like random crowd people) about it, it is quite an eye opener.
