  1. would love some of those strip lights, but I already bought all the PA and I got some PAR lights as the first gig we did was almost in dark, so I am not buying any more!
  2. Wow - your vat is high in scotland!
  3. Looks like your wiring has been modified. With the original wiring in passive mode the switch bypasses anything to do with the battery and routes the sound from the volume control straight to the jack socket.
  4. One of a kind masterpiece? Well, that is reassuring and certainly some way of putting it
  5. No it doesn't affect the VU, the Passive / Active switch makes a big difference though. I never get it high on most basses other than the bongo though, but I would think that the G&L wouldn't have an issue.
  6. Normally I would say 'trade offers by PM only please', but as the OP specifically said 'no trades' it might not really be worth it!
  7. I use it on 'who knew' by pink.
  8. As mentioned, mine produce noise if I plug them in straight, but if I plug them in to a lead that is connected to the input, the noise goes away, so I guess it needs the filter network of a guitar cable to filter out the noise. Interested to hear what the A58s are like, I looked at those (and the fender ones) as a replacement for the WS90/WS70s I use but haven't picked anything yet.
  9. No, he had several but he had a 62 jazz bass that he used for most of zeppelin recording and gigs.
  10. Thats been covered years ago by burns http://burnsguitars.com/apachedoublesix.php - thats the guitar, there is a bass (or was years ago), we talked about it somewhere on bc a few weeks ago ah here
  11. I don't know - reading the posts from both sides, I don't see anyone being covered in glory here.
  12. Tidied up a bit on here, I think that maybe part of this should continue as a private conversation while it is being resolved
  13. Didn't brookes do a 15 string bass once? That would be my dream one
  14. Seems to be reports of issues on some active basses. Not sure about systems with TRS plugs.
  15. Both the Dwarf and the ME-90B seem to do the same, and it is hard to shield the RF on the receiver.
  16. The musicmaster wasn't touched by most people. I remember seeing one in the shop in the late 70s, and it was basically the kids budget bass. Modifying basses was also very common back then, you just had one, you modified it how you wanted, there wasn't the fear of modding that there is now. Sure couldn't pay over a grand for a musicmaster!
  17. Well, yes, we practice every week (mostly) and don't pay anything. We can even leave our stuff there (I don't but we leave a drum kit and PA there). Before that we used to pay for 6 months or so at another place, £10 per night. The other group I am in pay, no idea how much though, but between £10-20
  18. Or mentioning you have a hooker to get rid of...
  19. So can someone else from your group book it? Its not like they are checking
  20. A bit down so it isn't as loud as the main vocals. It can't be a figure, because it depends on the singer.
  21. I kick myself for not getitng one just after the brexit change when Thomman were kicking them out at €1350, even with taxes that would have been pretty good, but didn't know what getting stuff imported was like at the time. By the time they had that sorted themselves they were gone and never came back. Problem with rics are they are just too expensive for what they are worth for me - at under 1.5k I am happy to go for one, at over that they have to be special, and they aren't really special enough.
  22. And it is often called hate when it is hate. No, people who disagree are just people with different points of view, and that is ok. Thats why we have a forum, loads of dissagreement, but ultimately we try to keep the hate out, there is enough out there already.
