  1. It can't be easily done because it works by putting a button on the bar that the reply button is on, which is obviously missing on a forum in which you can't reply (which is why mods can see it). it could be done with another plugin but currently I don't have access to being able to make new plugins. Certainly it isn't something I have ruled out, as I would like to be able to do plugins, as I think there are a few we could do with and I do think it would be a good thing as I think it would make the wanted forum a lot more useful (as would closing things you no longer want).
  2. In a way certainly, although the ric's bridge and pointy metalwork presents an additional challenge. I don't find P basses comfortable and think the sticking up screws on their bridges aren't good, and although I have had a few jazzes, they never seemed very comfortable or flexable, but the ric does have its own things. Having said that, my first years were on an ibanez ric copy so I recon I could cope with it. Just not willing to bet that much money that I am right!
  3. Is it a non reversable mod? I mean would the retailer notice that something had happened to it? I must admit I was almost in the same boat with the 4003s5, they finally made a 5 string, I could use it, but it is a lot of money if you don't like it, and couldn't find one to try anywhere, so went without. Probably just as well!
  4. Indeed - its a good place to look, although as you say they are not common (I suspect more so in europe) - I almost got one once, when I was looking for a 6 string. There is no problem replying about things, or researching and discussing particular basses etc, but when it comes to selling, the forum can only exist due to small payments made on sales on the marketplace of basses over £150, hence open selling offers on other forums are prohibited.
  5. Oh didn't need it, I just chipped a bit of the leg of this old Thomas Chippendale sideboard that was kicking around.
  6. Yeh, but I had to replace my maple shims with rosewood as the tone was too bright
  7. There is, there is a very active marketplace with the rules pinned to the forum. It costs money to post in it (nothing like reverb or ebay prices) as either a one off or a yearly subscription.
  8. oh at least those are in the tonewood category so they won't destroy the sound of an instrument like a pice of card!
  9. ok, didn't read that far back, I was just commenting on the bit you quoted. and a thread is often about many things regardless to how it started.
  10. he specifically said on a vibrating table, ie, an acoustic instrument. It would make absolutely no difference on an electric only instrument
  11. If you read it it was mentioned that that it was actually ending earlier, or adding sections that weren't in groups of 4 bars.
  12. On the plus side it is now out in the open, he knows how you feel. And he is right, maybe you are musically compatible, he thinks music is about everyone listening to him, and you don't. So get that advert in all the jmb and bandmix sort of sites and start recruiting for another band while the iron is hot
  13. You don't need to look at a scammed page, you can actually look at their own page and see a wall of complaints
  14. Everyone knows that Leo agonised over the tonewood of the first basses he did.
  15. True, you could end up with a fender performer!
  16. And that is fine is it?
  17. Yes, their return policy is great. Have you tried using it?
  18. Certainly one option. I have a few stereo to dual mono cables. one is a stereo to XLR and an XLR to two XLR, and one is a stereo to dual stereo that I got with the chapman stick, and the other stereo to dual mono I got for connecting the iPad to the PA, 5M for £12 (I already had an 1/8" stereo plug to 1/4" stereo socket lead).
  19. Love the G&L headstock, good take on the bulbous fender style.
  20. The switch should switch between stereo and mono, and if it is the first one (which it looked like) it should just have a stereo output socket, so if you have a mono plug in, switching to stereo will cut out of half of the signal. Which sounds like you are describing. So you need a stereo to dual mono cable.
  21. oh I am not sure that is true with their latest album!
  22. I am very surprised that you had so few problems before now! I find they are very good if absolutely nothing goes wrong, but if it does, then they are beyond terrible.
  23. Yeh, stuff like that on a PM is fine. Just not a sales post, especially if you don't have a subscription.
  24. Unfortunately with SB1s there wasn't really an 'era' as such, just occasionaly they decided to put a 7.5" neck on it. Which is kind of how G&L do it, which makes it hard to get them! I belive the original Sires had 7.5 but now seemed to have evolved into 9.5. So fender classic series neck on something else? Not too helpful I know, seems an uncommon requirement judging by sizes around.
  25. If it produces no stress, then probably it is not worth doing it. I have done over 150 gigs with my current band but there is still a weird stressy feeling before i head to the gig - it goes when I start to setup, I think it is anticipation / have i forgotten anything etc. Meeting up for a jam is fine if that is what you have signed up for, with my current band if we had no gig there would be no point to meet up, although the guitarist often tried to force a practice because he viewed it as him practicing, which is not what it is about. Learn the song, get good at it, then practice it with the band.
