I can't be doing with adapters, or frankly, american plugs (lived in the states long enough to hate them) - easy point of failure so I will get a UK 14v supply. I wrote to them to tell them it was poor - they said that they were looking to make the next model powered by USB. I replied saying it would be better if it could be powered by a normal 9V adapter that effects pedals use, as they are a lot more common on a gig.

My X18 is as solid as a rock, but obviously not using the internal wifi which is asking for trouble!

I have never had the flashing thing, and I also use wireless IEM, wireless from the iPad to the mixer (although now 5ghz as the IEM inteferes), on stage we also have wireless sax. The only time I had any issues with the smoothhound was when I was powering it from a shared source and it wasn't getting enough power. I have been in wifi dense places too, (when you learn the lesson of using the X18 with its internal wifi!). I always carry a cable and have it out in case of issues, but the one time I thought I had to use it it wasn't the wireless at all, it was a cable to the amp. I am not far from the smoothhound as it is on my pedalboard, so by my feet (although I can wander quite a way on a big stage), and I also use an active ibanez bass. All in all not much help, as long as the power is supplied ok?

ok, the one in the truck, somewhere between 100-200 people. Not sure I saw a mask anywhere, mostly young people. OK, outside was fine, the bar was in a building and it was loads of hugging and chatting in groups. There was litterally no indication that was or had been a pandemic in the last 20 years there. There were no checks anywhere on anyone, you could just stroll in. I decided against going in the building and was fine in the field and on the stage.

Which ones of the markbass strings are the coated ones. I have two packets here, both longevo series, one stainless and one nickel, they both say nano-film shielded strings. Are they the ones?

No, it was new from bassdirect. Its working now, I used an iPhone lead and I guess it didn't like it, or it was because it was almost out of power. Considering the cost, it is a very poor power arrangement, taken the shine off it a bit. I will see if I can pick up a uk supply, I don't want some wobbly mains device kicking around with my gig stuff! Also last adapter I took on stage got destroyed by the singer jumping on it! So it works, now I have to get used to it!

Love that one - we spent a year practicing it for out band to reform in june, then they decided they didn't want my wife to sing any more - so told them where they could shove it. We will find another band to do it with!

Funnily enough, just did that. Had to concentrate on learning it before singing as it is hard to do both. Great line though.

And when packing it up for replacement, yes, moving the plug around caused the green light to come on. Still have the no 3.5mm jack issue though

Great, played on a truck a field at a football club. Very busy, loads of people. Only had a short 1hr set, but they paid us as much as when we did a 3 hour set last time so can't complain, even though you only really start warming up after 40 minutes or so. Weather was good after raining most of the morning and afternoon, it cleared out about an hour before we were on. Very enjoyable though, good crowd, stayed on to watch a bit of the band after us (the headliners). Would have been nice to do the dark bit, but then its more of a pain breaking down! Stage sound was terrible though couldn't hear much, I could hear me, bass and vocal but only just the singer and a bit of guitar. I could only hear the drums as I was standing next to them. Asked for things to be turned up and they were a bit but still not great. Still, all things, great to be out there

Did an outdoor venue, attached to a club yesterday. Mainly a young audience, obviously not too many issue for us as it was on a truck, but the bar was in the building, lots of people mingling and packed in without a mask in sight. I decided to skip on the bar! Don't think they were asking for tests!

Indeed - there were a few threads that promised to be interesting but then descended into politics and billy-waving which was a shame. I have the advantage that we don't have any deniers or anything in my group, so we have all had the jabs, although the younger ones only just had their second. We have been practicing in a close-ish space for a few times. The singer and drummer have to do a test every week for their work, and the drummer was ill recently so did some tests that were clear. We have now done one gig that was in an airy marque, and tomorrow we play outside on a truck. None of those have been worrying, but we do have some indoor gigs booked for the end of the month which is more worrying. I figure that in a few weeks the situation may be clearer anyway. We missed a gig because the singers son (11) got it, so he had to isolate, but he did his test and was clear, before and after. We certainly never really asked about testing etc, but it is obviously a very obvious topic so it gets discussed. I think it might become more of an issue as although cases are going down etc, in the last few days going into pubs and shops, there has been fewer masks. In a furniture shop today the guy said 'you can take your masks off if you want' (we didn't want).

Turns out i took a picture of the downstairs wall instruments the other day Oh - forgot to label them. So L-R Ibanez SR5005OL, Ibanez SR1605, Fender Aerdoyne Jazz, Maruszczyk Elwood L24, Ibanez SA36 (I think), Chapman Railboard (34"), Squier CV Mustang.

Indeed - could be any of those issues, but seeing as the unit also doesn't work with the input signal from the 3.5mm jack, it has to go back anyway. If that gets sorted out, and it is something I can use, I will replace the power supply with one with a UK plug, can't be doing with adapters.

No, I am wrong, the current 3EMV5-S part appears to have solder connections, so maybe it was just the first few that had plugs? Yep, just checked mine, soldered there too.
