  1. Seems the search server was down a bit overnight - it appears to be ok now, can you now search?
  2. Personally, although I am also not interested in tribute groups, I can live without the exact look if there is an approximation. I think it is more important to a tribute than a cover band, while I am happy to play motown with a Ibanez iceman, I don't think its right for a tribute, but maybe they are starting out, not that well off and that is what they have. However, they have to get the sound and the feel right, something I feel that a lot of bands don't bother with. It sounds like this is a band built around the singer just getting people to support them, and they didn't pay attention to the other bits because they didnt' feel it was important. It doesn't matter how easy or hard a bassline is, and I don't really see anything hard in doing joy division (which in a way makes it worse), the aim should be to nail it almost perfectly, especially the feel, unless it was a last minute stand-in.
  3. It literally isn't, but congrats for coming in and reviving a 4 year old thread with your enlightenment
  4. Last night a very local pub, local enough to not be able to get through a whole track on the way to it. Nice load in, I had bought a 20kg wheeled dolly from toolstation, you plonk the PA on it and wheel it in, fantastic, wonder why i never got one before. Easy setup, but then things went down. I wan't happy with the bass sound, it sounded lifeless through the PA. Everyone else was complaining at other things on sound, although luckily I can field some of those questions. but all the way through people were complaining. And it was very hot, unpleasantly so. After half time I just turned up the volume of people who I could turn the volume up of, reiterated my point to one woman complaining that the vocalist sounded unclear that yes, he was unclear and there was nothing I could do about that as that is what he sounds like, and got one with it. By then I had got peace with my bass sound, my new IEMs were rather nice, I had the backbeat which also helped a bit and although there wasn't much audience, they seemed generally happy to be there. Managed to stop a few songs earlier as there was pretty well noone there and obviously home early. But the last few songs I enjoyed, the new songs we introduced for this week worked well, and unlike last week, my voice seems to have got over the whooping cough or whatever it was. And we get paid, onward and upward!
  5. Honestly never known either of those things to be true, but I guess different circles.
  6. No, the original thread was removed, then a warning was raised saying what the problem was and acknowledged. then this new thread was posted. There is sometimes a delay between the hiding and the warning as there aren't full time mods, just people with stuff going on, that isn't the issue. ok, so there is a post that breaks the rules in that it could be a closeted attempt to get people to see the post and PM offers, so this is handled by leaving the post there so people can see it and send PMs about it but there is a big sign saying 'don't do this' at the end? I can't see it being effective.
  7. It means you broke one of the rules that were laid out, this is a warning about it but it isn't considered something that causes any real problem and is most likely because you didn't read the rules. Which is what the 0 point warning said that was sent to you and you acknowledged getting Part of that is because of a specific problem we have where this is funded it was decided that too many closet sales are done this way. and in the message it says just to search the forum and see what the same thing went for. The exact same thing you are trying to get a value for has been sold several times before for almost the same price each time (apart from modifications which rarely add any value). Who was making any assumptions? You broke one of the rules and it was flagged, like if anyone broke the rules and was flagged, noone is making it about you.
  8. Hi, sorry you have been led to belive by people here that there are 'ways round' the rules here, but there aren't. Regardless of what people may say, the rule here, is as is describe above, and in the 0 point warning you got. There is a blanket ban on any non supporting member posting a 'whats it worth' post on the forum due to frequent attempts to get round paying for an advert. There is no way of rephrasing the request to get past the rules because it is still the same thing. As mentioned, you can see what others have gone for, or just sell it and see what you get offered - I find if you ask someone what something is worth, that doesn't always have a bearing on what you will get for it at the moment, which appears quite a lot lower than peoples belief in somethings worth.
  9. There was a guy that used to come to a few of our gigs, then afterwards would talk about all the old gibsons and fenders he had. He couldn't actualy play them at all, and seemed to have no desire to, he said he would occasionally let other people play them, but that was just his collection. It didn't really make much sense, but I guess that was his thing.
  10. The singer drinks a fair bit, and the drummer drinks pretty well continuously. The guitarist rarely does.
  11. Well, if you have a 60s american fender, it was sold in dollars and translated to pounds to buy here. if it is now worth the equivalent of £430, it would still be over £1000 to buy the equivalent today, if the value was the same in dollars.
  12. Yeh, mine was Dec 31st 2005, although it was just a sip to appear sociable
  13. I have never been breathalised, always wanted to be, as I don't drink. But happy to lock up people over .05
  14. Dont' forget to note that the exchange rate of the US to UK was 2.8 in the mid 60s and Fenders were made in dollars, which is over double what it is now
  15. We don't do the little dance thing - you get the breathalyzer and if you fail that, you are going to get a free visit to the police station!
  16. Indeed it is, 80% of drivers are above average, I am guessing at least 90% on this forum have above average taste
  17. Actually I think 40 years ago is when things started to change, that is when the decent arias / tokais and Westones came in. I remember being a kid in telecoms musc in portsmouth, having played the fenders and the gibsons, and then picking up a westone concorde. It was nowhere near as cool but it played really well.
  18. I thought that was more Britains got talent sort of act (an assumption, I don't watch that!)
  19. It looks like this - here is last year
  20. Yet they will absolutely watch it next year as well!
  21. you can route out the back of the neck to counter the neck dive.
  22. And there is still a lot written about it, so it must be in some way relevant.
  23. I think saturday night TV has always really been the same for the same people.
