  1. Gibson use brass truss rod bots it would seem. Not sure if that is the reason
  2. I have a Elwwod with a non angled headstock and no string retainer/tree. As a result I have to be very careful how I string it or I will get buzz. I keep meaning to get a string retainer every time I restring it but keep forgetting.
  3. I think that ibanez use titanium due to weight reasons - they have very skinny necks and on mine have been about the most stable necks of any of my basses. Having said that, my Maruszczyk bass actually has the same neck profile as my ibanez, but without the additional stability. I haven't had any problems but I haven't touched the truss rod much
  4. Almost literally half as tragic as it could have been. Absolutely amazing work by the pilots (and a fair bit of luck too).
  5. There is at least one where it is an option
  6. Yes, a bit crazy. I must admit I wouldn't have looked the second time after getting the first price
  7. Any sufficient market change adjustment that you don't have access to would appear pretty random!
  8. The stiffening rods wouldn't have had much of an impact on the truss rod at all, but if they were stiffening the neck correctly, the chance of having to adjust the truss rod would have been reduced. After 18 months I would assume they would. It would not be reasonable for a truss rod to fail in that time. However, there is the issue that it is hard to prove user error, without looking at it. Certainly following the link that was supplied, that truss rod failed due to manufacturing defect, but hard to prove without having already taken it apart. Note that they also have titanitum truss rods as well, rather than what appears to be steel for the mzk ones.
  9. Thing is, you shouldn't have to. You shouldn't have to specify you wanted something that would stop your truss rod from breaking. If it isn't good enough on its own it shouldn't be an option. My ibanezes have titanium rods and double action truss rod in them on all the premiums and prestige (which is all I have now). I didn't specify them, that is what ibanez decided was necessary. And they were cheaper.
  10. At the moment you are restricting your market to your own town. Which when your own town has 45,000, of which there must be quite a small number of bass players, I think that isn't much of a market. I am happy with interparcel mostly, seeing as Eurosender are no more, but noted that their price to ship this bass was £20 higher than UPS on their own site.
  11. Courteeners - Are You In Love With A Notion? For the lyrics - "You're going to quit Debenhams, Elope and get married in the sun". Don't really need to quit any more
  12. I prefer blend knobs to volume / volume, but yes, you are right, they aren't as useful on passive basses, as at full blend your pickups have half the volume down anyway.
  13. In a non lockdown scenario, that is probably a good idea if you have the time to do it.
  14. Like buying an operating system that you have to buy antivirus software to make up for flaws in its architecture.
  15. Oh having talked to a lot of van drivers the job is horrible and I have admiration for the fact that they do it. I have nothing against couriers. I do have something against courier companies though! On the plus side, my £28.50 UPS delivery insured for £900 got to where it was going a day early and the customer is happy. So yay for parts of UPS (except in this case the courier)!
  16. Have you tried sending it a Midi CC of 128? Maybe that would work.
  17. I am amazed it is still there - I assumed it would have gone ages ago. If it wasn't a lockdown I would be tempted to do the distance to get it, especially as I have just sold stuff. But sadly in a lockdown I can't.
  18. Mine works fine. But obviously hasn't been getting much use this year. It powered everything except my helix.
  19. I wouldn't have half the problems I have now if I didn't think of the food already too much!
  20. I don't belong here, said old tessa out loud. Easy, love, there's the safe way home. 21. It starts like that, it gets much easier after a while
  22. No, a truss rod is not a consumable thing that is supposed to die. But I do know what it is like dealing with him. Don't stand for anything less than a replacement.
  23. Oh I can become free - you don't get rid of me that easily.
