  1. As I said, I wasn't keen on the shape, but regardless of whether you like the shape or materials, noone is going to dispute the craftsmanship. The uk is really lucky that we have so many world class luthiers , especially now that it is not so easy to get stuff from anywhere else!
  2. Love the wood and burl (and resin). Not a shape I get on with, but I am sure it is going to be fantastic, and also very thoughtful of him to put a spare string on the side in case one breaks!
  3. Fair cop, I can agree with that, they do good stuff. Unfortunately the worst band I have ever seen was local to here, and I doubt (hope) they were seen by many people. What made it worse was that they were so happy doing it. Not much of a sharing experience then. Still a better song than SoS by Disturbed.
  4. Not really my argument but if you really wanted to prove this point ^ ^ this does it really well. I presume that statement is intentional trolling as there is no way any reasonable person could read 'I only ever play my basses acoustically' from 'I play it acoustically before plugging in'
  5. I have never had trouble finding amazing 4 or 5 strings. Obviously you are going to get a lot of cheap 'copy of a p, copy of a j' basses, there are no definitive 5 strings to just clone, so you have to think about it more.
  6. I don't believe there are any songs that couldn't be improved on, or at least interpreted differently Luckily I didn't see the video before hearing it, and also I have no problem with disturbed, who have done some great songs (I have even done covers, maybe they hate mine?) Thats where I am. THe video can neither add or take away.
  7. Same here - that test should have been "Which one makes you want to punch the singer most". Pretty much like gigging really.
  8. I can give it a try later on (it is behind me but not connected to anything, and I dont' have a spare pre up here), but a much simpler answer would be to drop a line to ashdown and ask them if that is the correct behaviour. They have always been pretty helpful and fast at responding.
  9. Not something I have ever tried, I wasn't aware that GuitarLab was available for the iPad. I can't seem to find it on my iPad. If it is available then yes it would probably work, if not then no.
  10. haha - yes, it would be more acceptable if everyone was ignored, otherwise it seems personal!
  11. Funnily enough, with the lockdown, my pedals get much less attention - they are out in my gig equipment area and I havn't seen them in ages. Indoors all I have is a B3n which I am currently using (and frankly, not that into), an aliexpress looper (again, haven't used much), a muslady mutli effects (which I have used on the guitar), and the effects on the spark (which I have used a lot more but sadly don't have an octaver).
  12. I think it takes every ounce of passion out of that song and makes it bland and lifeless. Still, if people like it, people like it.
  13. I don't think anyone has a problem with the style or friendliness of an email, I certainly don't - its the 'not getting a reply' thing which is my problem (and the reason for this thread)
  14. True - there isn't. At least he hasn't done a cover that bad either
  15. I am normally pretty tollerant of songs, especially covers, but that is just got to be the low point, it is pretty dire. Well, keeps the pensioners happy then and I guess it made them more money than Down with the sickness. Hmm.. I have seen a video of many hundreds of thousands more singing Achy breaky heart by Billy Ray Cyrus, but still not a fan. And still a better song! I guess if you like it you like it, there are some things I will never understand
  16. umm.. everything? A good group have taken a great song and butchered it. I think the Shaggs song is better, at least it started bad.
  17. Yes, there is a bass I would buy on here but it is pickup only, and as it is not in my town, that isn't much of an option. I had my bass on here as pickup only as it was a thunderbird and I had no case for it - it was too cheap to get a case to send it in. Took a year to sell. Have another one that has been for sale for a year, but it is obviously too expensive for most (or priced too high for people to be interested), but I can wait and I would buy it for that price so if it doesn't sell its not a stress having it! How long you are prepared to wait is also a factor.
  18. iTunes is currently playing tool (its on random). The bass sound is very different from James Jamerson. If James Jamerson had done the bassline for this song (incidently Rosetta Stoned), it would have sounded completely wrong, and would have been a completely different song. Also, if Justin Chancellor had taken James Jamersons bass to play it, it still wouldn't have sounded right (although obviously closer), so it isn't all in the fingers.
  19. Same here - I have had 'the one' for ages, but since having the EBH, its only really that and the shuker get a look in.
  20. funny, was about to tag him!
  21. My wife has no problem me buying basses, as long as they aren't ugly. Several basses (and guitars) didn't get to hang around as long as they would have otherwise as in conversations they would be 'you know, the gibson', 'no, which one is that', 'the brown one', 'oh the ugly one!'. The opposite is also true. "I might sell the Maruszczyk', "which one is that', 'the black and red one', 'Oh no, you can't sell that, thats my favourite'.
  22. Since 2014 the midi spec has actually been 3.3v rather than 5, so anything above 3 wouldn't be an issue. Also as it is a current loop, the low value has always been more important than the high value. either way midi devices are (by design) very tolerant of voltage levels. So much more likely what you are saying than how you are saying it!
  23. Oh yes, when a mistake is made, all the work has to be done by the shop to rectify it.
