  1. All of my SRs have got dents in the top from low practice ceilings. Luckily not hard ceilings!
  2. Must be a pain walking behind with an old pink torpedo linnet!
  3. I think it is a very good album. Unlike the new one, which is remarkably unmemorable.
  4. I have a CTM100 and it does sound good, although I rarely took it to gigs for convenience sake, too big / heavy.
  5. I have been playing 5 strings since the 90s, and never had a 35" (unless the spector legend was? I didn't keep it long). Almost all have been 34", apart from a 37" Dingwall, a 33" shuker, and a 30" messinger.
  6. I think it is impossible to predict as it isn't really based on anything other than perceived value, and there is no way to predict what perceived value will be. So just rarity and whatever was flavour of the month, as people have said people spend a fortune on 70s fenders, when in the 80s the standard wisdom was you didn't touch one with a bargepole as they were terrible. I have played a JV strat and it was ok, not really any better than any current strat, but that isn't really important. In a world where people pay actual money for a Kay without the intention of burning it to keep warm, there is absolutely no logic to these prices so no way to predict.
  7. Honestly if it takes you more than 2 seconds to change your E string to a D string there is something wrong, with or without a tuner! I had a phase of bringing a couple of basses as there would be a 4 string I wanted to try but I could never play the entire set with a 4 string, so I would have to change, and our set list is never that fixed so too much of a hassle to change basses.
  8. Also the last. Although he brings spare guitars now as he breaks strings so often.
  9. I would have ample time to do that while the guitarist retunes
  10. Honestly if there is extra weight that you can actually feel, there is something wrong with the contstruction! My EHB1505 which is what I am playing at the moment is under 8lbs. And although its string spacing is a bit wide, it isn't uncomfortable unlike, say, a P bass.
  11. Thats because it is much easier for most people with commonly available equipment to measure resistance. Same with speakers. Also there is one important measurement - a pickup with a resistance of either zero or really high is broken!
  12. I know that, I was playing mine earlier!
  13. Is it a chinese import? I don't think you can actually sell licensed ones in the UK with 5.8, just 5 or 2.4GHz, in the same way that our routers miss out a couple of channels you have have in the states.
  14. Thats good if it doesn't go up much.
  15. As previously mentioned, everything can be played on a 1 string, some people are just more used to using 4.
  16. Presumably as it was on telly it had been rehearsed before recording with a piano or something. Singing something at the same pitch as something you heard before isn't perfect pitch
  17. Agreed, it is what you are used to. There was a combination of mainstream music (4/4) and classical growing up, so I don't find other time signatures a problem, in fact for listening music I prefer them, but there are some genres that it doesn't work, and some people that just haven't been exposed to anything else who can't cope. But we don't have one natural scale, we have several depending on the instrument. The scale on a piano is different from the scale on a guitar, even if only slightly. If someone has perfect pitch (compared with someone who just says they have which is a much larger segment), they can literally hear the frequency, which means if it is somewhere between an F and an F#, they will know that, because they can hear the pitch. I have only met 2 people with perfect pitch, but a lot more than claim to have it. And.. we are all born with the ability to have perfect pitch, but most of us lose it due to a lack of exersize.
  18. Serious nostalgia there, going round my mates house and listening to that and those things like it.
  19. it is - and I would know that and buy it and then end up not playing it because its a 4. I always know this before i do it, but somehow I still do it!
  20. If it is the same as my shuker 6 was, which was made a couple of years after this, the trim pot is for middle Q and is not really something you want to play with once it is set.
