What sets off your BROCD? (Bass Related OCD)
Woodinblack replied to donslow's topic in General Discussion
Strings that change angle after the nut, unless that angle fans out like an explorer -
Adverts with cats in. Especially adverts with a cat sitting in the case. Sorry, not coming in my house, my wife is alergic to cats, not worth the hassle.

Roland GK3b internal kit fitting - advice...?
Woodinblack replied to Sambrook's topic in Repairs and Technical
With the GR20, if you haven't put your signal input into the 13 pin, you would only have the synth output from the GR20, not a mixed signal. The signal from the cable from the pickup would go through the separate lead. I will say (because I have done it), it is a big pain using two cables from one bass, especially dissimilar ones (and the 13 pin cable is a bit thicker than the normal one). Is there any reason you can't get the signal from the GR20 into your other amp anyway? -
Roland GK3b internal kit fitting - advice...?
Woodinblack replied to Sambrook's topic in Repairs and Technical
There are sticky pads that work without the clamp. The advantage of the external thing is that you don't need to make any holes in your bass. I certainly wouldn't use the internal kit until i was sure it was the bass I wanted it permanently mounted in. -
I use a line6 sonic port too. Stopped working for a while, but software update sorted that. probably means you can find a lot of cheap ones.

Roland GK3b internal kit fitting - advice...?
Woodinblack replied to Sambrook's topic in Repairs and Technical
Not sure what you are asking here. The piezo and the GK13 are only joined if you join them. Traditionally you connect the output of the instrument you have so that it goes through the 13pin cable as well, so you can play either with the jack socket, or the 13 pin cable or both. But if you connect your output to the GK kit, all you are doing is routing your pickup down the wire (and optionally swiching it on or off with the GK mix switch. You can connect the output of the GK synth anywhere, and separately connect the jack socket to another amp if you want. There are no volume up down buttons on the GK kit, or is this something else you are fitting. There are S1 and S2 buttons, which you could assign to volume (although I think they are per patch buttons so that would be a lot of assigning). It seems just the opposite - seems you are making what is quite simple a lot more difficult. What is wrong with the normal fitting - you are already making holes in your bass for the kit, it seems just adding a bit more awkward in its use, and if you are using a SY1000, making a section of it less functional. -
I gig with an iPad. but there are plenty of cheap options depending what faff you need

Getting a bass refinished in print

How robust is it to chipping and damage? -
Undoubtedly but at that price it is good, especially for live

Literally no. I have tried. I can't make a finish with a spray can (which is what I have) that looks professional. -

Sounds like a good idea for a cover, although that doesn't make that sort of finish does it, that is under the laquer. -
Well, my gig last week didn't happen. It was supposed to be outside, but the weather was bad so they moved it inside and the guitarist who has just moved back in with his parents wasn't prepared to risk the family having to isolate (didn't mention actually getting ill). I don't think he really wanted to do it anyway, but either way not criticising his choice, only worth doing if every is happy. It was also unpaid, and after they handled it (not mentioning we weren't playing on the site) I don't feel bad about it from that point of view. Would have been nice though. I think with the rumours of lockdown coming, I will just hang up the stuff for the year!

Is there anywhere that isn't crazy price where you can get a bass refinished in a print? I tried myself but turns out badly, I have to accept I have the guitar finishing skills of a computer programmer! Seems guitars are the only ones that get this sort of treatment from fender apart from the paisley jazz recently at a very high price. This is the sort of thing I would like: https://shop.fender.com/en-GB/electric-guitars/other/shawn-mendes-foundation-musicmaster/0140292523.html As I am sure everyone will agree, that is great and would perfect as a bass in a death metal group or something

No intel but I reckon they will expand on the EHBs (and maybe produce more). I am planning on not buying any basses next year. I won't be surprised if I fail!

Oh that looks nice, what are they like?

If it was me, I probably wouldn't show people pictures of the ones that I had stolen

Ibanez EHB1506MS 6 String Multiscale Headless Bass - £995 - SOLD

Nice ibanez, but then I would say that. Other than the missing string of course - just kidding, I do have a 4 string Ibanez that looks similar to that (my SR1000), and I keep it because it was my first proper bass when I started again, but I just don't really play 4s. Welcome to the bass world anyway!

Haven't used one but they seem reasonably well rated for the price. I always wanted a triton taktile to do that sort of thing, but that is a lot more money again, and to be fair, I have quite a lot of things that could be used as a master keyboard!
-
I would not be averse to. Cheers. I have actually never had a problem with behringer stuff, just wondered because they have their outlet on eBay which does some good prices. I guess the thing now is I have all the time in the world to think about it!

Mine neither - I didn't use it often when gigging and that was a long time ago. Should sell it really, but dont' really want to.

Spent ages learning the bass to that, then the group changed a bit and decided not to do it!
