  1. Wouldn't it be an idea before that to get past the annoyance at the company (seeing as that hurts noone but you as you already bought it) and as you say, reset and start again from scratch rather than spending more money to get something else. The size of the FI does seem a bit silly when it can be in a smaller box (and frankly it is a very ugly box) but as you have it, might as well make something with it. The midi pedal you already have works with anything else anyway so you haven't lost anything with that. Sounds like what I do, but the sensible part of me would want to work out the FI first, and then either get rid of it for something else, or keep it and use it.
  2. A lot of them probably do, certainly the ones who are on their way up and need the publicity as they can guarantee a lot of that. Headliners less so, though some do for charity. They said they paid Paul McC 200k, which is probably cheap. They get paid considerably less than other uk festivals, maybe only 1/10th of some of them, but they do get paid up to 500k depending on who they are. So I doubt kanye would have got much less than 500k - I mean what would Glastonbury have meant to him?
  3. I would say yes, quite a bit better, but I guess that depends on if you like slade.
  4. I had that recently, the guitarist wanted to do a free gig to get people back to gigging at a place that is good to gig. I said I was happy to help one of the landlords who had been good to us, but not them, as they never were, so no way.
  5. I think you will find the commute a bit excessive for a free gig
  6. Shouldn't be too bad, in my search for the 205 I have come across many 200s.
  7. Not sure where the joke is. I never heard the guns and roses version.
  8. Hardly if it is referring a track on an album that is 34 years old.
  9. Waterloo music, but it looks like they sold it https://waterloomusic.shop/products/afbv200a?_pos=3&_psq=ibanez&_ss=e&_v=1.0
  10. You can still turn it off but it is hidden
  11. Yep, I am always careful I make sure the global shipping thing is off. My wife made the mistake of not switching it off on one of her items, then the guy (in the states) decided he had changed his mind and he didn't want it, so ebay wanted to write it off, but in the end she got it sorted. Still a hassle though.
  12. Funny - I see it the other way round, I like the headstock but the body isnt anything special.
  13. Yep - I have lost count of the basses I would have bought at the price they were but they were too far out of range. Probably a good thing!
  14. I am the same, that is the last Maiden album I bought. But maiden had keyboards from way back (well, technically they had keyboards long before Cliver Burr and Paul Di'anno joined), weren't they played off stage by the bass tech?
  15. If you think that is hard to find, you should try finding the AFBV205A - had a hankering for oneof those for ages, they don't come up often! There is a AFBV200 round in my local guitar shop, although it is a bit overpriced.
  16. The SY-1 is specifically marketed as a Guitar and Bass synth. The SYB-5 is a much older pedal and I haven't used it, so I am sure it is fine for what it does, but it isn't the same sort of thing as the SY-1. I guess the difference is 10 sounds vs 121 sounds
  17. That would pass a bit of time wiring that up for your ELP cover band!
  18. Well, if you really want a big moog system, look what behringer have done now... https://www.behringer.com/series.html?category=R-BEHRINGER-SYSTEM-15-35-55SERIES
  19. Our next gig is two days after the next unlockdown happens, if the next unlockdown happens which is a reschedule of one we missed when the last unlockdown didn't happen! Thats an indoor one. We also have an outdoor one a couple of weeks after that which is a short one, and on a truck, so that should be good.
  20. Dont we already have a another thread for this?
  21. No danger at all if you are happy with it. The only difference is that it would have a different circuit so the pins might be different, but it should be apparent what goes to where.
  22. Yes, they are passive. Try the patch, if you like it then do something more permenant, if not it is fully reversable.
  23. Which is even easier, you don't even have to solder to test it out. Get 3 short lengths of solid copper core wire, take the circuit board plugs out and shove the 3 wires in the sockets like this. Obviously you can take the battery out, not that it will make a difference.
  24. The pickups go to the balance control, the output of which goes to the preamp input. The output of the preamp goes to the volume. So if you connect the middle pin of the balance control to the volume control where it connected to the preamp, job should be a goodun. Yes, the tone adjustment is part of the preamp, there would be none left if you removed it. Obviously you could add something else as you would have some pots going spare, but there wouldn't be anything by default. Who knows, I don't have your cable or your amp. Once you remove the preamp you add your lead and your amp into the tone shaping circuit of the bass. If you have a good cable and a good amp you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between when it had the preamp and when it hadn't, apart from having no tone controls. Certainly with my leads and amp on my premiers, I can't tell the difference between the preamp being on or off, unless I change the tone controls.
