Some crimes should not go unpunished
Woodinblack replied to Doctor J's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Well, it matches the horrible plate on the other side, I know people aren't going to like it because it is modded, and if your only concern is the value of the bass, rather than it as an instrument that is going to affect it, but at least they used the same cheap looking plate material, so it is sort of done well, in that it is the same style as the original. -

In a way I think it's good. I mean, it isn't good, it's ugly as hell and they have devalued the instrument a lot, but they treated it as their own instrument, their own thing rather than "I have to keep it how it is as it is worth money". When I was young all my instruments I could afford were rubbish but I modified them Tao make them better for me. Now I don't touch anything. Seems sad in a way! -
Virtually all 5 string BTBs are BEADG tuning. There are only two I can think of that is sold EADGC, the 33" scale BTB33 custom and one of the single cuts which may have also been that scale so quite unlike all the others. All other BTBs are 35" B-G, so if it is that one you tried, make sure you get just that one, as the others would play very differently. However, if you do get the short scale one, there should be no trouble restringing it, I don't think there is a construction difference apart from the scale.

I suspect the diagrams are just there for marketing reasons. I see no reason why the treble would be anything other than a treble shelf, as to do anything different would require additional componants for no useful reasons. So it is a treble and bass control with a parametric middle control.

Funny, I knew the top 5, but don't know any of the bottom 5. -
I am playing runaway, by Jamiroqui. Not the hardest of songs, but trying to get the notes flowing and looking effortless. It takes a lot of effort to make something look effortless!
-
You would be wrong. There are probably lots of his songs (as many songs) that are very important to some people - songs they met by, songs that were last playing when someone went, etc. Songs bring back memories of people and places, and so it would be hard to have any song that someone in the world wouldn't miss. So the world needs all the songs it has

Not a huge fan but if the next one after that is chasing cars, then I am all for it. -

Well, I have never gigged past 55, as I reached 55 in may of last year and we were locked down. But I gigged a lot at 54 and hope to gig a lot at 56. The audience is whatever, generally speaking 20 - 60, depending on where you are playing. We don't do many 'oldie' things, apart from one place, but it is the general crowd of the night time. We also don't seemed to get booked for many kids paries, although we did a charity thing for a religious school locally (where unfortunately I we connected the drummers mic before mentioning it to him, he has a bit of a potty mouth) - good gig, opened with highway to hell. I don't see age as that relevant if you are just doing local circuits. Obviously if you want to do young teen pop group you might have missed the boat. -
I posted that a few pages earlier, and even tagged him - no reply @Bluewine - you still out there?

I have a couple of them, they are good preamps - pots not fantastic, but good enough and obviously the better shielded the better. -

Wow - would so love that - a defense against the singer jumping into your space -
Eric Clapton is very much a guitarist first and foremost. I suppose sting is best known as a singer

I was going for the bilboard chart positions - they are the ones that 50 cent also had. To be honest I have no idea who drake is, but that isn't surprising, not my demographic There seems to be a whole thread here that I care how many people bought how many singles. I don't - I just think the whole 'beatles sold all these singles they must be fantastic musicians' line that seems very odd, especially from those people who don't rate current chart toppers. I mean if you look at spoitifys top 100 - the beatles aren't anywhere to be seen.
-
There is always the EHB short scale. Slightly different price bracket though! Not sure what the pickups are, they don't say anything, they look pretty generic. I would suspect they would be similarish. It is very clearly not SR like at all though!
-
Which is easy when everyone is rubbish. In 2006 the charts were in such a bad way that a number one got there with just 17,000 sales. 10 years before that it wouldn't have got in the top 40 with that, so it isn't a fixed amount. The year that we are talking about for the beatles, they didn't make the top bought songs, that was held by two roy orbison songs and two jim reeves songs, and only one of theirs beat the two cilla black songs. And what I am pointing out, is that if your logic says "The beatles must have been good, because of their chart success", then you have to accept the logic that it means they are not as good as Justin Beiber, or Drake!
-
Indeed - only equalled by 50 cent and drake. Generally I would put that at a sign of a very poor year with not much around. Same as a few years ago when ed sheeran had 12 songs in the top 20. And recently Taylor Swift had 5 songs in the top 20, and that album wasn't as good as the previous one!
-
Honestly I would think that Maria Carey and Madonna probably got most of their hits before the streaming age.
-
Yep, would be interested in that. It is really the only blot (not that it is a major thing) on an otherwise splendid instrument
-
Indeed, chart position is important - they got one more number one song in the top ten than Mariah Carey, and almost as many top 10 hits as Drake and Madonna. Also only 10 weeks less cumulative time in the charts as Justin Beiber.
