Which bands are guaranteed to buy from?
Woodinblack replied to stewblack's topic in General Discussion
When you only like one group, the chances are a list would seem unreal See, I would go for both of those, and when you think about their record rates, they balance out. Tool did 3 albums in 20 years, taylor did 3 in one! -
Mixist, Sound Technician, Sound Eng......No

I would tend to go for sound guy, as I don't really see guy specifying male -
Mixist, Sound Technician, Sound Eng......No

I always had suspicions that the qualifications of the "Dr Beat" referred to by Miami Sound machine were a little suspect. And don't get me started on the Boss Dr Rythmn from the 80s, I have no idea how that learned anything, it could only do 16 steps of 4 drums. In reality, the UK is one of the few countries that doesn't have engineer as a reserved occupation. -
I don't know what is going on in this thread. Obviously hooky_lowdown and killed_by_death have had an argument about something else somewhere else and now there is a bit of stalking going on and it is being plastered over this totally unrelated thread where someone just wanted to know about a pickup. absolutely no one asked about any capacitors, so I don't understand why there is a raging argument about it, although I would say that nothing bigger than a millifarad has any application in an audio setting, and anything from a farad upwards would only be seen in an automotive engine, as effectively it would work like a short term battery (and would also need something very big to house it). You would never get something bigger than a micro farad in a bass, unless in the power supply stabilisation of a preamp, so obviously the unties are messed up. A megafarad doesn't exist outside of some crazy science experiment as it would be house sized. Can we just give it a break?

Yes, true I can bring it, only needs a spare pocket!

Is this like the Family Guy Chicken fight sketch where they just suddenly appear in unrelated rooms?

I got my BAM200 when behringer were doing the ebay bstock things, so mine was £85. i run it at home into my BC112 cab, sounds great. All my home practice is through it.
-
Normally, yes, but this is in the amp, so there is nowhere to put the HPF, unless there is one already built into the ABM600

I had to get my pedalboard out to check it, so using the same method, the smooth hound is here: so about 7.9ms or there about. And because my pedal board also has my helix HX Effects, here is it through this too so about 10.2 ms - maybe another 2.3ms going through the helix. doesn't seem too bad, although we are now up to a delay equivalent of 3.4M from the cab.
-
Haven't dug the smooth hound out yet, but here is the 5g one, using Adium as I couldn't be bothered to wire up the oscilloscope. And a guitar, so I could get a faster attack So we can call that about 5.4ms or thereabouts

Yeh, I keep meaning to do the chinese 5ghz ones that I got recently. Still I have time off, maybe I can get round to it. Have a gig soon so probably should start pulling my equipment out and see if it still works.

I always liked the phone at the end of life on mars. Was coming in to post the black country woman bit, but see that has been done.

I liked that song the first time I heard it, it is genuinely different to other things I get to hear, which to me makes the whole thing worthwhile. The italian one was ok, a bit mainstream but the energy was good. And making any bass like noise out of a danelectro is good!
-
I think almost certainly guitar synth.

That doesn't sound stupid! I can't make sense of that either I do have a blade spare, might be worth giving that a try.

Moog iOS apps FREE TODAY (23rd May 2021)
Woodinblack replied to Quatschmacher's topic in General Discussion
Yep, dissapointing as I already had model 15 and model D! -
The barts are the only reason I haven't bought one of those. If they came out with a nord version I would have bought it, it's just buying it knowing I am going to have to replace the pickups that makes it less compelling.
-
Cant say I am keen on the crater pattern on it, should have just made it one colour
-
The same as I had, for the same sort of price. However, look at the price now!
-
Oh hang on, yes, lets just check my bank account. Oh..

I think I ever went like that I wouldn't have anything, there is always going to be someone better. But you know, you can either accept they play better and not worry, or you could accidently drop a hod full of bricks on their hand. Then whos the best player, huh, huh?
-
I got rid of my 8 because although I liked the sound, it was basically a rich 4 and I don't realy get round to using 4s. There are some 10s around, but they seem so rare.

Let's talk about pitch correction.
Woodinblack replied to leftybassman392's topic in General Discussion
No, I am saying that if the only thing to listen to in life was those two, I would probably blow my eardrums out. Neither of them are good in any sense I understand it. I like lots of different music, but if your argument is that you want people to sound like a drunk in a pub or a repetitive pop singer, then autotune is good! Anyway, you can sing out of tune and still not have to sing like them.- 194 replies

Rotary switch for series/parallel/single-coil?
Woodinblack replied to mcnach's topic in General Discussion
It is indeed, and that as I mentioned is what I would get every time on a passive system to prevent loud thumps. You will note that default pickup selector switches for guitars (such as the gibson 2 way switch, the strat 3/5 way switch) are *always* make before break -
Rotary switch for series/parallel/single-coil?
Woodinblack replied to mcnach's topic in General Discussion
Again, for the switching but only if you have those types of shafts which is unlikely on a bass. I mean like this (although I would prefer metal) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pole-Way-Black-Rotary-Switch/dp/B00YEU7X8O Like this if the shaft is long enough https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294024238706
