  1. Never really got the grabbyness, but always found them a bit unforgiving, so I never really got on with them.
  2. Nope, not had one of those, although I played it. Not sure if just a P pickup makes it more like a P. I have a Maruszczyk with a P pickup. Sounds a bit more like a jazz really. hahah - this is true, but I still have that bass!
  3. The one on the EHB was impossible to undo with one hand, so it involved picking the bass up and turning it round to disconnect. Meaning you stand a chance of bashing it on something. And what are you getting? If your bass is connected to a jack plug, sitting on a stand to an amp, and someone trips over the lead, which would you prefer, the jack plug to be pulled out or the bass to be dragged across the stage. Or maybe the cable to be ripped out of the back of the plug? If the cable is pulled out of the bass, you can just put it back in.
  4. When I get my EHB back from being replaced first thing I do will be to remove the locking jack. Really can't see any positive thing in them at all.
  5. Only part of someset (sedgemoor). It means that they haven't managed to test anyone who has it. Maybe they have done the trump thing and just stopped testing!
  6. What's the point having a pink sparkly bass if they don't let you in the video?
  7. Wouldn't really call that pink. I was offered a trade on a pearl MM, but it was a 4, and that isn't much use to me. Looked good though. Isn't it always. Technically I should be happy now, but there is always that look for something exciting. I do too. I wish they did all the colours that she gets to use.
  8. We have open mic nights started near us. And acoustic groups in one pub
  9. No, nor my terms. While I didn't put in the level of effort as you did, after this conversation yesterday I thought I would fix my ignorance, select them as artist on Apple Music, hit random and spent the afternoon listening. I used the skip button a few times. Maybe it is just the songs there (there were quite a few albums covering late 60s to late 80s) but they didn't seem to have that much of a range and I didn't find anything special so its not for me. Maybe it is like that thread the other day, if it is something you grew up with it is special to you.
  10. And the answer is in case anyone ever does a search, Steinberger strings fit the hofner just fine!
  11. Ooh, I just got an email that my spark has shipped, which as I posted up there was supposed to be 17-20th august. So i might have that soonish!
  12. As a point of keeping on track, I am not sure anyone said they found listening to music unpleasant but did it because they have to learn it. There were a few 'only listen when I have to learn it', which is different. I have listened to some songs that I found unpleasant because I had to learn them, but that is just the way of being in a covers group - you can't expect to like everything when there are other people in the group and I am sure there are other songs they don't like. In general I don't listen to music I don't like, once I have worked out I don't like it
  13. Nothing yet. Added up all the gigs we had missed. Once it got past the £1000 mark I stopped counting as it was getting a little depressing!
  14. Honestly don't see that one as bad. Obviously it is supposed to be stupid, so within the time and remit of the group, seems quite good.
  15. Seen them many times, one of my favourite groups. Strangely enough the last time I saw them in london a few years ago they were the best sounding they had been.
  16. This would entirely depend on the venue, there is some venues I would pay for free for if I believed they needed help, on the proviso that it was while they needed help and would expect it to be a temporary things. There are some other venues I fully expect to be asking because they are the type that have always tried to pull a fast one in the past, so this would be another excuse. Those I wouldn't.
  17. My name is stan and I love K-Pop! Actually, it is not stan but I actually do like a fair bit of K-Pop
  18. We all have different priorites and relationship with music. I think one of the interesting things about this thread is that clear indication that there is no 'normal'
  19. Excelent - I will go and check what their prog, pop and classical stuff is like then!
  20. Now that is something I couldn't do, like listen to just one group (not meaning specifically the Grateful Dead - I don't think I know any of their tracks), even if I liked that group a lot. It would just drive me up the wall. But then I have an incredibly short attention span.
  21. I was in Death Valley once, at a sort of turning space on the road down to the valley. We stopped and I walked out the edge. There was no sound, like none. Then there was the sound of the inside of my own head, like hissing and rushing sound, the sound of existence. Then a bird flew past making an awful racket with its wings moving the air, and broke the silence. That was the quietest I have known.
