  1. See no reason why not, so count me in
  2. I think the best option is a day out to a bass shop to see what you do like.
  3. Equally with most of my gigging basses being SR ibanezes, the bug type connection isn't much use. And it always used to have a flappy plug too before I had it fixed.
  4. Presets on many things are essencial to give you an idea on what you can do, not necessarily things you would use. Whenever I get something I will flick through the presets to hear what the thing is capable of doing, and then often find something that is like what I want as a starting point and then continue. As long as they are all overwriteable (but included on some download where you can reapply them) then I don't see any harm. Although I never understand why digital effects pedals dont seem to have what many digital synths have, a random button. Most of the times the random button ends up with something unplayable, but just occasionally it can be the start of something pretty good!
  5. That's how mine connects, a short cable to the smoothound on the holder on the strap
  6. I have the 2 channel one of the behringer and it is great. But then I also have the X18 if I want to record everything!
  7. They were showing one on their facebook page 3 weeks ago, so I wouldn't have thought so.
  8. My dad was the same, and had the same restrictions. However, after buying me a piano, when I moved on a bit and I was more guitar based, he started playing it and doing show stuff on it (they did theatre and stuff), then he got a home organ thing, and he loved that. He didn't ever get that great on it, but he really enjoyed it, so I think the music fed back.
  9. Good practice for playing live!
  10. My most played bass at home is either the shuker or my Ibanez EHB, by virtue of me most playing upstairs where they are. The shuker is easiest to get off the wall, but the EHB is much lighter and headless so easier to use in a small room without hitting anything! If I am downstairs it is either the maruschyk or the the Stick.
  11. Yes, my mum made every attempt possible to nurture any musical direction I had, I had piano lessons, I got a piano, got a guitar, etc. My family all sang all the time anyway, and even if the music wasn't something I would necessarily want to listen to, it was always there as a communication. So yes, without that, it wouldn't have been the same.
  12. Indeed, turns a ugly, nasty, twangy, shrill, uncomfortable thing into an muffled ugly, nasty twangy, shrill, uncomfortable thing 😀
  13. Never was a fan of telecasters. Had a couple but never won me over. Some people sound great on them, just not for me
  14. I have too many guitars as I don't play them often. As a result I completely ignored a spam this morning with a squier paranormal cyclone. Not interested at all, nope, not even slightly.
  15. That is true. Since lockdown I have bought ∞% more Shukers than before!
  16. You did remember to get dressed didn't you? I know you said you were out of practice... At this moment I will take that gig! I suppose in a way I am better off. I haven't had any hopes raised, no gigs to take away. The singer did say something about a gig in November, but I will believe it if he is still saying it the day before
  17. Really handy being able to hide signatures, thanks for pointing that out, never knew you could do that.
  18. I am not bothered about front fret markers as I don't look a the fretboard when I am playing (need side ones though!) and when I did specify my maruschyk I didn't have any, so its not something I would do, but its your bass, so the only person whos opinion matters is you. That said, they don't look like they have been tacked on afterwards or out of place, so that seems fine
  19. In hindsight I think their decision to put a gold musicman logo on it is poor form
  20. If anything a subsonic filter increases all of those.
  21. Ironically looking around now at my guitars and basses, the average fret number on the basses is higher than the guitars. Most of my basses are 24 fret, most of the guitars are 22!
  22. Not sure about that, especially gibsons you get a lot that are very worn, and what proportion of gibsons from the 60s have their necks unbroken?! Most goldtops from the 50s/60s are woodtops and it seems that a lot of EB basses from the 60s and 70s are not only worn but have holes for other pickups, bridge replacements, various holes. In fact I think the SG shape in particular is designed to look tatty. Its just they don't come like that unlike fenders.
  23. Gibson do a few relics but only on stupidly expensive custom shop. I doubt you would get a thunderbird though, gibson don't even bother making those every years, let alone coming out with a new finish. I suppose they don't really care about basses anyway. Surprised that G&L don't though, they come out with every finish going.
  24. Probably the sensible decision, it is what I would like to think I would go for. I played a set of taurus 3 and they were fun but once you get over the "OMG I am playing a moog Taurus" they weren't actually that special! I have the 12 step and often think a set of PK pedals would be good, but it is another thing to shlep around.
  25. I will be listening. Want to know it is worth the extra!
