  1. Used to do the ataris version in a previous group. I do like both of them.
  2. The only downside of bypassing a digital effect to blend in clean is that it is not doing exactly the same as a blend would do on an analogue pedal, in that the digital signal that is distorted will be delayed WRT to the analogue signal, so you are effectively phasing as well.
  3. Not sure what you mean - there is no logical reason why you cant blend around on a zoom pedal any more than a helix, it is just addition. Its just a choice not to.
  4. Bit of a commute though, especially when we have to quarantine when we get back. Although as I am working from home I guess it doesn't matter where the home is!
  5. At £6 if they are bad they still have to be ok for tying up things in the garden!
  6. I saw that in mansons, very interesting looking instrument! GLWS
  7. Mine was 1) the Ibanez EHB1505ms, which I have (and love) 2) an ibanez Ashula, although I have no idea why 3) a squier classic vibe mustang. Both of those last two have come up pretty cheap on here recently and i have failed to get them, but TBH, I do have way too many basses, especially if there aren't going to be any gigs in the immediate future. But then I am swayed by so much. A rickenbacker 4003/5, although I haven't really got on with rics and they are too expensive, A shuker 5 string, a spector lx, even though I didn't get on with the last spector, another jazz although I have a jazz I don't play. I think I really need to get rid of some things before I get new stuff in, or at least use more of the stuff I have.
  8. I get that, but to be fair, I get that at a live gig too!
  9. Yep, exactly what I meant when I said Lloyds have been using those songs for ages to show how they care and its all about community. But I think it more demonstrates how they are there to strip the soul out of something! Obviously it isn't just them, other banks / building societies / large corporates have been using these songs for a while in adverts, and I assume some people like these things. Speaking as someone who plays in a cover band, and who does a lot of ska covers of other songs, I have no objection to a cover that brings something new to the party, but not just something that strips everything out and leaves nothing.
  10. That is one of the things I really hate, the "bank advertisation" of a song, basically taking a song and just playing it slowly while stripping all emotion out of it. it doesn't have to be like that, Placebos running up that hill is what can happen if it is done well - it still has feeling, because it has an awareness of what the lyrics are saying, not just repeating them slower. In fact if anything, it highlights the intensity of the lyrics
  11. Well, yes, it is a bit stick like when played like a stick. It has the advantage of being able to play both ways. it is a bit different but then my stick is a railboard, so it is all metal, whereas the NS is bamboo with rods.
  12. Clearly not - I don't understand how anyone could get through that song!
  13. I am not a great fan of the beatles, and I quite dislike Souxie, but I agree hers it is a better version. As for higher ground - I love both versions, I prefer playing the RHCP version, but don't mind listening to either. Although have a great difficulty not doing the RHCP ending whichever version I am playing!
  14. For me that is not only the worst cover ever recorded, but also the worst thing that Disturbed have ever done, and I like disturbed. it is beyond awful.
  15. Always the way isn't it. When I was selling my classic vibe PBass, this is what I wanted to change it for, but none were available anywhere, so in the end I got an aerodyne, but would have prefered one of these. If they are anything like the classic vibe P basses, it will be a fantastic bass, GLWS
  16. Yeh, a lot of people make do with whatever is available, thats the good old british 'why fix it if it aint broke' spirit, the reason we have not much manufacturing any more, but if you are going to spend your own money on something, why not get something that is comfortable and you find appealing?
  17. The problem I always find going through presets, there will be something you select that means you immediately have to play something - the one for me was that there was a 'Don't stop believing' patch. That was annoying!
  18. Oh I love it just as an ideas pad thing, as well as how small it is at a practice. I am not short of controllers of all kinds though, such as the roli, linstrument, Ewi, my piano and an old m-audio midi-air, which is pretty handy.
  19. The sound quality is great considering the size of the speakers isn't it? Headphones are good too. You can do it as I have a few, although the patches on mine have been pretty static for a while, so I haven't looked
  20. Yeh, I saw that before and was really tempted, but too big for me
  21. See that would actually be less good. There are a lot of 5 octave things like that around, but they are nowhere near as good as the pick up and play, side of the sofa, top of the gigbag sort of thing that this is.
  22. I now have a tray on my microphone stand with it. Considering the Reface range is getting on a bit now, it is a shame that they haven't made a reface plus, maybe something only a tiny bit larger, that contains all 4 of the refaces, because I would be all over that. The DX is certainly the versatile one, which is why I got it. I also got a cheap YC on ebay with the view to repairing it but it was too far gone, dead processor. The hardware in them is very similar, so it should be possible to make a multiple one. Also there were rumours of a Reface VL - but that never happened. Considering how rare the VL synths are (no, not the VL-Tone!), and expensive / old / unreliable to use now, that would have been a killer thing, although not that many VL1s (or VL7s) were bought (they were hugely expensive). A lot of people complained they were expensive for what they were, but didn't really look past the mini keys. You can get pretty well everything. Its very versatile. Although it only has 4 operators to the DX7s 6, its operators do more, so it works out very similar.
  23. I love my DX (didn't see this thread before now), it is the perfect machine for carrying around, and the keyboard is fantastic, considering it is minikeys. I really wanted the Reface YC organ, as we were doing a lot of organ things, so I wandered into PMT to check it out*, and there was the whole reface range, the organ was great, but then when I got to the DX, wow. Also it was going through decent speakers and it was such a big sound, like a better DX - none of that hissy 14 bit DAC on the original DXs, this is crystal clear. Amazingly flexible. Not so bad to program, but you can also go to the yamaha website and just preview the patches and save what you want. I now use live to play several songs live. I now have a tray as the tape wasn't really working well! * due to PMTs idea of not putting prices on anything, I assumed they would be expensive there, so checked teh internet when I got home, and found out they were one of the cheapest. Shame really, had I known that I would have bought it there and then, but as it was I scored a nearly new sh one cheap.
  24. I have done the first of those quite a bit, but not sure me playing it would tell you a lot except maybe I should practice more!
  25. Did you buy it in person with cash? If not, you can just return it. Seems a better deal from your point of view. Nice looking bass though
