Wow, holy thread revival!

If they are fans, they are almost certainly going to be watching his website as much as any pink floyd website. In fact, if they feel the same way as post RW pink floyd as you do, maybe more. So I don't see an issue.

Love GAKs description " The bolt-on neck promises comfortable playability with its 30"" short scale, perfect for beginners and even electric guitar players" (my bolding there!) -
NBD: Ibanez SRMD205 Mezzo 5 string. Medium scale
Woodinblack replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
I had a 5 string 30" bass for a while and found it almost impossible to find 5 string 30" scale strings B-G. Thats when I started using newtones, and they were good. Obviously no use if you want to use d'adarios thought. At a brief look it seems they don't do them, maybe the 130 is not a d'adario and is something else? -
Generally at a drivethrough you listen to the sound on your radio

Thats what I meant about the way of getting stuff done. I don't feel it is a parent thing, I think it is a bullying thing, "Those people wont do what I want, all you people hassle them until I do". Part of the twitter thing. I am sure if he thought he had a genuine chance of it happening he is capable of getting Dave Gillmours telephone number

Thread-leak from elsewhere!

As long as it makes someone happy, I guess that is all that music is about, I might go and hunt on youtube to see if there are any good versions. True, but maybe they could have started with that
-
I don't like it because it is a great song sang by someone who could sing it very well a few decades ago. But now can't. Not knocking any of the musicians, who are excelent, as would be expected. For the same reason I can't listen to rush live performances of the last decade or jethro tull performances, I understand that they are these peoples songs, who have the right to do whatever the hell they want with it, but from my point of view, their performance takes away from the work they have done, rather than adds to it. I have heard several great covers of that song, that are many times better than that. I am sure there are covers on youtube that are many times better than that, but they are not Roger Waters. If you played that song and a cover to someone who didn't know the song or the people involved, and asked them to pick the best one, I would bet it wouldn't be that. So yes, I don't like it, because it is a great song.

I don't because it is a great song.

Well, I suppose if you are a real PF fanboi you are pre-disposed to like it just because its Roger Waters. And I am sure it is better than the other video (which I didn't watch!)
-
Maybe, I guess that is up to the website owner. Doesnt he have his own website? I know from experience, after the 3rd or 4th time of repairing a bridge that someone else has burned the 'Oh come on lads, can't we all be friends' starts wearing very thin.

I like PF, but if they are no longer a going concern and it is a legacy thing, I don't see that activity by the principle members is really anything to do with it, it should be old discovered archives, or things related to the band. and I have no idea what the vontrap thing, is, I don't like them enough to look

We are not all build like aquaman here! -
When he decided to not continue with the band, instead of leaving he sued everyone to make sure noone could have it if he didn't. He lost, they continued and had quite a bit of success. If it was down to him there wouldn't be a pink floyd website for him to put his stuff on. I don't know him or them, but he doesn't appear to be that easy to work with, and obviously they do know him and can decide. And if you want someone else to do somehting to help you, I find going to them rather than just posting a video to all your fans to try and get round them is almost certainly the least likely way to get what you want.

Great little basses, especially at the price, and nice to see some medium scale basses too. Bit too wide a string spacing for me, but a good starter bass for people who don't mind falling through the gaps! -
What have you got against slap bass?

I think that is a much better indicator. For a start noone knows what is in the video before they start playing it, and when searching for a bass playing video, I start looking for the song, not the player. OK, when I see the list, I can pick at that time, but I certainly never think 'I won't watch that one, it might have some slap in it' -

I think that is largely what people have said they do like, certainly me - it is great as an accent. It contrasts the earlier playing. As a contrast, or an accent it is great. If its all there is, then it is not as good. -
Oh that is a neat job, I think I will do that!

Bass players you didn't know were bass players

Oh yes, but maybe not for his services to bass! -

That I didn't know. I had seen him playing keyboards. Well, on rainbow in the dark, I guess anyone could play that! -
It is pretty ergonomic. I think at the moment it is better sat down (it is the best bass sat down) than standing up, not that I have done much of the latter since i got it. I don't think it is necessarly required to have a wider neck because of the headless thing, I think it is just the start of a different range. The BTB range has got a wider string spacing than the SR (and this), as well as a long neck. Same reason it doesn't look like an SR, the SR range is many decades old now and they just wanted a more modern thing I think.
