  1. Indeed, although bigger manufacturers will have a bit of an easier time getting stuff in because the costs in bulk rather than the costs of individual shipments. Similar to getting something direct from the states. Obviously everything will cost more, but some things will be just too much hassle.
  2. We can certainly agree on that one.
  3. Indeed - I think with additional import duties and the value of our currencies, those won't really be viable for us here any more.
  4. Tell me more about this. I have the looper on the HX (not that I use it live) and I have a jamman solo, but just for sample playback. What is so good about this? They seem cheap and small, which is a good thing as I don't have much room
  5. So John has sent me a new preamp for this and I fitted it last night, all appears to be working fine and so after a bit more testing I will be shipping this out. I got my new shuker: And frankly that is the only bass I want to play right now, so expect this to come back up this weekend!
  6. Another week gone past, still no more contact or anything happening. I think I probably need to start looking at what I need to do to get my credit card company to do a chargeback on them. I can honestly say I have never dealt with a big company that have been this bad at doing anything. Their prices are cheap but then I guess if you don't need to pay any staff to do customer support, your costs are low.
  7. My friend who has a ceilidh band have done a number of gigs at a local bandstand. They didn't ask anyone they just noticed it was empty and took their acoustic instruments and some battery amps and played in the park. They have done it 3 times now, noone moved them on. Not going to work for us though as a rock band
  8. It is a very good delay pedal though Yeh, but it can't do a big sky though can it?
  9. Supposed to be having a gig in a couple of weeks at a local football club. They certainly have the space and the guy who runs it is a 'character', but we shall see. Noone has mentioned money yet. There are many venues I would do a favour for, that isn't one of them!
  10. hahah - I meant 90215 but I always got that confused with my american zip code (odly, seeing as that was 94133!) But what do you mean dated? Still as relevant today, the story of a bunch of young teens at college where noone likes Shannen Doherty and noone questions why clearly one of the students should have left college a decade ago
  11. Understandable. For me it began a golden age. For me both Genesis without Gabriel and Gabriel without Genesis were better, so it was a win win. Had Gabriel stayed with genesis we wouldn't have had later genesis (which I like) and more importantly, Gabriels solo stuff which I think was hugely significant. What would the world have been like without Gabriel 3 (melt or security or whatever). I love the Yes version, that leaves me cold. I think the snarly roughness of the bass is a contrast to the sweetness of his voice, and without one it is just a bit too unbalanced.
  12. The lamb lies down on broadway is one of the few genesis albums I never got on with. no idea why, I think I heard it later and it just didn't stick in the same way other albums did - trick of the tail was the first 'prog' album I ever heard, I loved it and it is still my favourite. Apart from carpet crawlers I find it a bit forgettable. I would agree with fragile and Relayer, although I even like the later 80s stuff, 90210 was good.
  13. So thats what Awaken would sound like if you took the bass out and over processed it. Think I will stick with the Yes version.
  14. Yeh, mr shuker sent me a replacement preamp for a second hand shuker I bought.
  15. I dont' really know Steely Dan. They are one of my wifes favourites, but they always left me cold, so I didn't bother listening. I have listened a bit more now due the basses but they would never be a favourite. Its odd, some of their bass lines are quite involved, and some are just plodding along doing nothing.
  16. Well, to me not so, I thought his bass was a different colour. I just recognised him by the trousers. Some people you need a clue. I recognised Jamerson by the finger. Probably Jacos bass is quite distinctive Seems they missed a few tricks though as some of the other options they give you you could actually recognise by the bass, such as Les Claypool, Chris Squire, Nikki Sixx, etc.
  17. I would say that thundercats bass is actually fairly distinctive.
  18. Aint no mountain high enough - just because I got it in my head Peg - because I had to learn Josie for my new band and that is the track that always plays after it.
  19. Yeh, that would rule us out too, we are a band to dance and sing to, without that what is the point? Hmm.. maybe time to start a new prog band..
  20. I got 14, but I had never heard of the woman with the thunderbird.
  21. Well, its close!
  22. I don't even see that hahah From my point of view all I see is the scratch on the back and a bit of stuff on the neck. I will say in a positive vein that it has one of the nicest necks, its like clouds. I would like something with a neck like that. Well, not a 4 string P neck but that finish!
  23. Seems you really can!
  24. 3 transistors, 5 capacitors, 5 resistors, 2 pots, a battery and a metal case - £500 - srsly??
  25. People who pay that for a fivers worth of componants in a metal box probably do deserve it
