  1. I must admit I didn't know what they were until I googled, like Les Claypools bass. They look ok I guess, I don't get on with the curl at the top. Actually looking again, that is the brown ones, but there is a picture of Les Claypool with a black one and that looks very nice. I think they are some of the most beautiful basses going but then maybe thats because I haven't got a background in art and design? Not too keen on the pillowy guitar ones, but the long thin ones, the royas, raptors and jupiters, fantastic. I think though both of the manufacturers have the advantage that at least they are a NAFF* design * Not Another Fender - some words may have been removed.
  2. and of course, as a contrast...
  3. How do you get it to start up in any other mode? Mine always starts up in stomp mode. I assume it just started up how you shut it down My mistake, I was refering to the HX FX, but I assume it is similar
  4. Great, we will get baked peas instead
  5. I love those, and to be more honest, I love that someone is making those. I view it the same as high fashion anyway, like the clothes on a catwalk at a fashion show are not meant for general use, they are there to show ideas and directions as to the way fashions are going, they are there for the purpose of art itself. And Jens basses are the same. Although I would love one, I would look stupid playing it because I don't look good enough to pull it off, I am not the right model for the fashion
  6. Which model was the placenta? I guess they used a different name in production
  7. Obviously not, we all have our tastes. If I could ever afford a Ritter Roya I would get one, it is pretty well a dream bass for me. There is no bass made as beautiful as one of those But sadly out of my league!
  8. Its exactly the same thing on the bass as the sax. Ok, the register and purpose is the same but if you can hear the tonality as a sax player, the only thing stopping you doing the same on a bass is familiarity.
  9. I have been saying that to my band. TBH, I have practiced a lot and I am ready to play tomorrow if there was a gig, so it doesn't matter to me about practicing. Obviously not so easy for drummers or anyone who only practices when there is a group practice and takes half the practice learning their parts.
  10. Some people will pay the higher price, some won't, I guess the market will just be smaller here. Maybe we will just have to play music and not buy so much gear
  11. A bit silly to put prices up in a pandemic with loads of job losses, people selling a lot more. I sold my LT a while back for 575 which was good for me. If you want something, jus wait a bit, there is going to be a glut of things second hand.
  12. dunno, just one of the first ones I saw on eBay. Thats what I thought, it sounded like a good deal if it was any good.
  13. I did, he sounds great as always, he is one half of a great sound. But clearly people here like it and thats great, if something works and makes people happy thats all that matters, it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the original and seeing it done live.
  14. No, its £35 including shipping from London.
  15. This is true, the first hit is the worst. i now have a custom instrument that wasn't custom to me. In fact it wasn't custom to anyone, it was for a show. If it had been custom to me I would have made decisions on it that would have been different to what it has, which would be bad as it is perfect.
  16. ok, well at £35 worth a test I guess, even for someone that doesn't do much looping.
  17. Indeed, although bigger manufacturers will have a bit of an easier time getting stuff in because the costs in bulk rather than the costs of individual shipments. Similar to getting something direct from the states. Obviously everything will cost more, but some things will be just too much hassle.
  18. We can certainly agree on that one.
  19. Indeed - I think with additional import duties and the value of our currencies, those won't really be viable for us here any more.
  20. Tell me more about this. I have the looper on the HX (not that I use it live) and I have a jamman solo, but just for sample playback. What is so good about this? They seem cheap and small, which is a good thing as I don't have much room
  21. So John has sent me a new preamp for this and I fitted it last night, all appears to be working fine and so after a bit more testing I will be shipping this out. I got my new shuker: And frankly that is the only bass I want to play right now, so expect this to come back up this weekend!
  22. Another week gone past, still no more contact or anything happening. I think I probably need to start looking at what I need to do to get my credit card company to do a chargeback on them. I can honestly say I have never dealt with a big company that have been this bad at doing anything. Their prices are cheap but then I guess if you don't need to pay any staff to do customer support, your costs are low.
  23. My friend who has a ceilidh band have done a number of gigs at a local bandstand. They didn't ask anyone they just noticed it was empty and took their acoustic instruments and some battery amps and played in the park. They have done it 3 times now, noone moved them on. Not going to work for us though as a rock band
  24. It is a very good delay pedal though Yeh, but it can't do a big sky though can it?
