  1. Oh yes, I certainly don't feel cheated, it has been worth what I paid.
  2. Think I am fairly convinced on this. When they take the returned column speaker back I will get the TS312S (and a padded cover - why do some of the same shops not offer that?).
  3. Helix LT. Sale or trade for an HX Stomp. I got this from the Guitarist in my band who didn't get on with it, it is about 3 months old, still has the plastic but not box. I had always wanted one but now I have one, it is too big for me to really use that well. At the moment I have too much stuff, so if I am not going to be using it much, I might as well get rid of it - shame but I am trying not to horde. I have a Helix HX for gigging so I thought I could sell this and get a Helix Stomp as a practice tool for my chapman stick, so happy to talk about doing a trade for a helix stomp if you have one and want to upgrade. Happy to take any money that doesn't involve me losing stuff, so F&F paypal or bank transfer, or best still, cash. Pickup from Yeovil, or delivery / meetup somewhere within an hour would be ideal - so Brisol, Bath, Exeter, Poole sort of way, failing that I can look into posting. As I say, I don't have the orignal box.
  4. So how is the sale of another sax to him going?
  5. Mine wasn't too bad, new place for us in weymouth (40 minutes away, we don't normally get to travel that far!), tricky place to load in as you can't park but turned out not much traffic and the roadworks meant even less. Small but nicely done stage, small but appreciative audience. Was a bit concerned about doing this because of the virus and all, but it wasn't rammed so that was ok. Everyone else in the band said they really enjoyed it, but for some reason for me it was a little flat. Oh and the singer messed up 3 of the first 5 songs, but luckily me and the drummer were there to correct him on all of them for a change
  6. I have quite a lot of 'its all a bit hazy' gigs I have seen. pretty well all rock acts in the early 80s - Iron maiden several times with Paul Di'anno - they came to Portsmouth a lot at the start of the 80s and it was convenient for my sister to drag me around to them. Then the gigs with Bruce Dickinson (which were night and day better). Festivals from 81-84, reading / glastonbury etc. Black Sabbath with Gillan (hahah) and Dio (and Dio with Dio). Marillon first tour in portsmouth. All laced with about a million Hawkwind gigs (they seemed to be always on). All of these would be good to have remembered well.
  7. They change models a lot, some last a very short time.
  8. Oops, sorry, I really am costing your family a lot of money at the moment aren't I?! 😯 Glad you are liking it. I am slightly partial to an SR myself it has to be said!
  9. No, there are three models - TS212, TS312 and TX212. The TS212S I assume is to go with the TS212 speakers (which I have), and the TX212S I assume goes with the TX212 (which I don't have). I am not sure what the differences between the TX and the TS (other than TS stands for truesonic), but the TX212 and the TS312 are both current, whereas the TS2x is the old model of the TS3x. I think i might go for the TS312S sub (or maybe the TS315?) and maybe later on upgrade my 212's to the 312. Seems you can only get the TS212S second hand anyway now.
  10. That would be bad - we already have one of those!
  11. I think by the end of next week it will be apparent how things are going and the answer will be more obvious. If we are truly only 2 weeks behind Italy, then it seems unlikely it will be able to continue, but if for some reason we aren't - who knows. Goes without saying that I am perfectly happy to help with any loss that might happen
  12. I have no problem with the x18, that bit is like a breath of fresh air, wouldn’t go back to an analogue desk if I could help it. Mics are an interesting one, and vocals have been part of the issue. I have a tc helicon MP76 and my vocals are never a problem. The singer has a pg58 shure and is muffled. My wife (in another group) uses the same (type) mic and she is clear as a bell. We briefly swapped mics at last practice, he had more treble BT not much more clarity. I think he is just muffled
  13. BTW- in the original post I wasn't talking about the bose L1 system - that is either out of my price range or not powerful enough, I only mentioned the bose as I have an S1, as a standalone thing, I just use that as a personal amp for the stick and my wife uses it as a monitor.
  14. So you would recommend getting the 212s rather than the 312s because they match better? edit - do you have a link for that? I only see the TS312s and the TX212
  15. Turns out I have 212s not 312s, although the rest is the same. Seems to be just a bit of a power difference. So a sub, that is where I started ages ago thinking about that. So would a TS312S make that much of a difference to the clarity of vocals - I presume removing the lower frequencies lets the tops work better. Is there much between a TS312 or 315?
  16. You can write what you want on an eBay listing - doesn't make it the rules though, so if you refused to sell to someone who paid you are still a non shipping seller and take the hit from it. In which case, count yourself lucky he didn't just claim he never got it and claimed the money back, it is quite easy to do. Never take paypal for something that you are not shipping by a tracked service. You have no proof he got it apart from his word. And you already know what that is worth hahahah!
  17. I know there are a few threads on this but they get quite detailed and it is hard to pick out the details that are relevant to your own position. I have a band, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys, Sax, 3 Vocals. The bass doesn't go through the PA, everything else does (the guitar has its own amp but some part in the PA). This is currently handled by 2 x Alto TS312. The drummer is reasonably loud, when we play at an average pub gig, the red lights on the back of the pa will occasionally flicker. The singer isn't always very clear, although odly I am. Sometimes we get great sound, sometimes less than great. It is all controled by me via an ipad and X-Air, while playing bass, no separate sound guy. I also have another band that is not yet gigging but will be. So basically it all works but I feel it is constantly on the edge. And I get nagged a bit by it. I bought a column PA from G4M, because it was on discount, an 8 inch column speaker. I didn't think it would be loud enough but it was a bargain! Tried it out with both bands yesterday and day before, and it just overloads at the volume I want so it is going to go back. My wife was monitoring through it, but then went for the bose S1 and it was so clear. I know on these threads someone will come up with 'oh you can get this and that RCF or whatever for only £2000', but I have no real budget for this. However, I already put £300 in, I figure if I stretched to another £300 at absolute max, I could get something like the RCF EVOX J8 which looks good, and maybe replace one of my Altos, leaving the same for me to carry but maybe improve my clarity. The pair of altos and stands and cables cost me £300 on ebay marketplace. If you were in this situation, and had the demands of 1. Really can't go past £600 at max 2. Really don't have much room left in the car for additional things, or storage at home so a sub is out. what would you do, or would you just stick with what you have?
  18. That isn't begging though, that is getting someone to fund you to do something, same as a kickstarter campain, so they aren't giving you money as such, they are just paying you up front or paying for something they want to be done. None of them care if you have a new bass or not, they care about getting the thing they want.
  19. I put a roland pickup on both a P bass and a G&L2500, both with shiney finish, and both of them show no signs of the tape afterwards if you are careful cleaning it off.
  20. I wouldn't gig with a stomp, as it doesn't have what I need, but for the stick I just need maybe a phaser on the bass, a bit of reverb and a drive on the treble. All going to headphones probably. Obviously the LT can do this and a lot more, but it takes up a lot of space so it isn't something I can get out in the evening for a quick noodle.
  21. You are incorrect, I obviously know less about the LT than you! OK, so that is an option - I never looked on the HXFX as it has stereo inputs, the same as every other helix apart from the LT. Thats good, I can get on with it. It is however a bit overkill on what I want on the stick, but that gets it a lot more useful - thanks very much.
  22. Unfortunately that is line level
  23. I won't do a whole brace of politics. I will do some religious affiliations, depends on who and what they are and if they want to involve me in them (ie, I have no problem playing for a church fete sort of thing, but that is about it). Won't do hunter groups.
