I am not bothered either way by brightside. There are some songs we do I dislike but have come to accept as the public love them (inc sex on fire - no idea why people like that), but oasis is just one bit too far for me, so it isn't going to happen on my watch!

We have a 'good god no' veto, and then a 'absolutely no Oasis under any circumstances' veto. Every so often try to push against that but its not moving anywhere!

We all chip in suggestions and if noone really hates it strongly enough, we try it, and if it works it stays in. As we all have very different ideas of what works, we come up with a very odd collection.

Not sure of the relevance - the L2000 is nothing like a thunderbird. I have an L2500 and yes its a big neck (although not as clumsy feeling as a precision) but it is more a precision style. A thunderbird neck (like a proper one) is very small - I have an epiphone classic and its neck is much closer to my old ibanez sr 4 string. So we were talking about it being chunky 'for a thunderbird'

Nope, just a covers band in pubs. we have now (after much whinging) managed to get down to doing sub 3 hours, so 3 hours with a 15 minute break or something, but the guitarist and singer are convinced people want 3 hour gigs (actually only one venue wants that). Normally do 9 - 12 (but often go over that).

Because they have different motivations to you. And if you got to the galleries you will find only a small number of pictures compared to the millions of original pictures that have been painted, to which again you could say 'Paint me something actually original and good'.

Well, it does play like a 5 string with 3 smaller spaced guitar strings. Pretty interesting so far, you can actually play ordinary bass and chords on it at the same time. Think it might take a time to master!

Having looked into getting double ball ends for my Hohner B2V, I am happy to not have double ball ends!

Which is after the end of that group, exactly what the singer did. He said he only wanted to do his stuff in future. Thats fair enough. We used to be a combined covers / originals band and I guess it must have been depressing that when the originals were played, people went and sat down or went to the bar, and when the covers came on they all got up and danced. He has been on the local radio though saying about how unimaginative playing covers is. Fair enough, keep banging out those imaginative i-iv-v acoustic songs in 4-4 time.

I have played in both, and to be honest there was not much difference, as the 'originals' weren't actual original to me, they were just something the guitarist had come up with and frankly, they weren't very original! Obviously some originals would be great to be in if they were actually original. Original bands were certainly more common back when I was starting in the 80s, although again, not truly much originality, and pretty well all original bands I have seen do the occasional cover. Personally don't mind what I am in, as long as I am playing stuff and get to say how I play it.

OK, I didn't intend to get one of these, but they don't turn up often do they and I had the money I had aside for the Ibanez headless that isn't turning up fast. Turned up yesterday so early days - it is not much like the stick, but it does have the immediacy of being able to play it like a bass, so i will see how it goes!

Well, I hope they take longer to release now, with a new purchase it means I will have to sell something before I can get one!

I am the same. I am about 10 - 20 years older than the other members of the group and it makes a difference as I don't like the rubbishy old stuff that they want to play, blues and stuff.
