  1. Oh, what a pain. I have a wide couch strap on my heaviest bass. I suppose it gives you the opportunity to buy a whole load of new straps!
  2. Yes, it has certainly put me off one of these. I think the thing about the Gibson's (and the last epiphone classic) is the size of the neck, so completely un-fender like, disappointing that they have made it chunky, although I guess not for a lot of people..
  3. Probably not on her own piano any more though
  4. Oh that's not good for me, I guess that is what you get for using a bass to do a sticks job! I was at that gig (or tour anyway, no idea where that was from). On the other hand:
  5. Yes, similar here. If there is something iconic in the bassline, or well known I will copy that, or if it is something I really like I will too (and in fact if I really hate it), but in general it is a variation on a theme. What person from any original band plays the same thing all the time without adding or removing. I am there to bring life to the song and enjoy myself in the process, so I do whatever feels right.
  6. Probably the deep impact, or one of: Human Gear Animato Distortion Boss OC-2 Octave Electro-Harmonix Black Russian Big Muff Boss DD-3 Digital Delay Akai Deep Impact Synthesiser Line 6 FM4 Filter Modeler
  7. I must admit I did feel bad for the movers - like they had one job to do and they were specialists at it. Some guy has to go back into work and explain to his boss that he broke a rare 150k piano. Wouldn't like to be having that conversation.
  8. Noone is 'having a go' - just having a little humour. Yes we all get it is bad for her, Yeh, we got that. It has all the pedals. It was very pedally, the most pedaled one apparently. Great pedals. Not seeing too many people upset here
  9. For me it is definitely a pleasure. Yes, I like gigging too, but if I wasn't gigging I would be playing anyway. i would move on basses that I don't play, and I do try to rotate the, so they all get bogged, but some have done a lot more than others
  10. If I wasn't gigging I would try and go down to one guitar, one bass, one stick, one keyboard, one synth module, one roli keyboard, one linstrument and an ewi. And maybe a flute. Oh who am I kidding
  11. I'm not sure that many people view that, though obviously some do. I am sure most people understand that other peoples use of something can be different to their own. I think more so with the bass than the guitar or piano, a lot of people only view a bass as a means to an end in a band and don't view it as an instrument in its own right. Obviously not. My most expensive instrument (admittedly only by a tiny bit) is my chapman stick. I haven't gigged that and I can't see I am going to any time soon!
  12. I read that as 'If *I* didn't want to play a bass.. I didn't read it as 'noone can have one if they aren't gigging', just that he wouldn't.
  13. In the last 200 gigs I have seen two fights, one where some security people just jumped on them (the only place I have even been to with security so i guess they expected it) and one drunk guy who just wanted to have a go at anyone and was promptly dragged outside. The more likely the pub was to have dodgy people in it, the more likely the landlord / landlady was good at getting rid of dodgy people. A lot of irritating people sure, no real violent ones.
  14. See, I don't see that as any different to a kid knocking the headstock of an old gibson. I mean, the value is different, but not the value to them, they both love it the same, but in her case the person who made it is still alive so it is just a question of buying another one. And the kid probably wouldn't have insurance. I am sure she can persuade him to fit a couple of other pedals, shes only got two feet anyway
  15. I have a Helix HX but I also (since I got that) bought a Zoom B3n, which is perfect for some things. My Helix is on my gigging pedalboard (well, it isn't at the moment, no gigs for a month so got a chance to use it with the stick), my zoom comes with me to practices with the other group as a stand alone pedal, and it is fine for everything. I probably wouldn't use it for recording, but I am not currently doing much of that, and if I do I have helix native, which beats both of them, but it is good enough for every other situation. I had been weighing up whether having 2 B1Fours on one pedalboard was an option, and some kind of mixer and maybe some kind of midi control to synchronize them. Haven't decided yet - its either that or a custom teensy board.
  16. I have two from america made with recycled car parts, they are from couch.
  17. So what is this new strap? Where are the pictures - why are you keeping it to yourself?
  18. Just because he eats peoples hands doesn't make him weird. Oh hang on, I might be mixing up realities here...
  19. Oh that is going to be nice!
  20. I did - a friend of mine that I had been in a couple of bands and been involved in music a lot, but no actually qualifications in that way. I gave youtube and facebook group page.
  21. Take the gig, see how it goes but keep an eye out for something else.
  22. Not if it is a valve stereo system!
