Bass wise, no problem assuming I can remember the song at all, I can remember every part of it. Sometimes I have a mental block on the start (some times I have a mental block on everything). I have a list of the first notes of each song, so if I ever do, the first note will tell me the rest of the song. Lyrics wise, I can remember most of them unless I am also playing and then I can go a bit blank. Toscanini sounds a bit like an italian version of my first childhood piano teacher though

Agreed - but anything that hasn't been in the last 10 years or so, the vocals sound a bit better there.

Do you mean the Harley benton powerplant? In which case, yes there will be a whine, or do you mean the Harley Benton Powerplant Jr, in which case there really shouldn't be. In my posts before I was only talking about the Jr. The non Jr is not isolated.

The most crowd pleasing set list ever?

I have never talked to a cover band who didn't say that! -

There is a place near us that all sing sweet Caroline when we finish, no idea why, apparently they do it for all groups. We don't do it and I couldn't imagine we would do it well -
Yep, I saw that and thought about getting one, then it occurred to me that actually, I have way too much stuff and don't need another amp!

Me neither - never heard it played anywhere by anyone and we have a lot of cover bands round here, maybe its regional? Pretty well everything else on here though. -

We removed mustang sally from our list, and got complaints. Because it is a really terrible song! Having been around a lot of prog people, I never understood the interest in them. Despite it not being there yet, our set list contains 1 of each (2 if you consider twist and shout, although that was a cover) Most of this stuff listed is in our set list (although a few are Ska'd up), we do a lot of what people want, apart from oasis, as I won't do that. -
I am never moved by celebs dying but Rush meant a lot to me. I lost countless hours air drumming to 2112 when I was a teen..

Well, we are just looking into this one. Its not a classic by any means.. But it has a good bassline. Which I should go off and learn

I would just run the effects send from one amp into the input of the other amp, that way you don't change the tone of your bass or need any special leads.

The non valve version is still cheap.

Its not a how far out it goes, it is a 'how big the step on the first few frets are' issue. So I would rather have the high strings go shorter than the low strings go longer. That is exactly how I feel. I really like the dingwall neck, a shorter dingwall neck on on something that sounds good would be my ideal bass. I am hoping this would be it.
-
Literally how I feel about fender!
-
I did, I had a spector and didn't like the neck, it was too clubby for me, didn't get on with it at all. Shame as I wanted to like it, and the sound wasn't bad. Not specifically fan frets, but the dingwall is 34" to 37" on the B, which is a bit of a stretch at the low end for me. I would be happy with less of a stretch. No, it takes no time to get used to the fan fret, in fact the odd thing about it is just how normal it feels, and in general is less effort on the wrist. The Ibanez is 33-35, so not much of a stretch and not that much of a fan really (32-35 would be better), so it sounds pretty promising. Frankly I am hoping that a EHB1505MS can be a replacement for my other basses, and if I end up with the Maruszczyk, the 1605, the 1505 and my SR1000, I could live with that (maybe the gretsch too, just to keep a short scale around).
-
Oh yes fan fret, if it is a fraction of a Dingwall neck it will be great, without the crazy stretch on the b
-
I know it didn't taper, that was my issue with it. Other than that (and the fact it had a confusing string stuck at the end, and its bass control was the wrong end), I really liked it.

Mad idea #376 Making a Hohner B2A short scale?
Woodinblack replied to Paul S's topic in Repairs and Technical
This is one, I am sure there was another: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/hohner-b2av-ws-headless-5-string-modification.887701/ although he said it was successful, the fact was he sold it after finishing it. -
Mad idea #376 Making a Hohner B2A short scale?
Woodinblack replied to Paul S's topic in Repairs and Technical
I am sure I saw this done once when I was googling, and I am sure it was a thread on talkbass where someone made a b2 short scale. I remember it was a lot of effort and remember thinking that it would be a lot easier to just make a short scale b2 copy from scratch. -
My main basses are my SRs and my Maruszczyk, but that also has 16.5mm spacing, in fact the neck is modelled on the SR1605 neck, it has the same dimensions (feels a little different because of the materials). my only other 5 strings are the G&L which I am not using much so will probably sell, a chinese one that I will probably give away and my hohner cricket bat which is only ever a backup. If you have a problem with the 16.5, how do you get on with the 14mm of the GWB?
-
That's the only downside with me. I see I can get the spacing down to 17.5 and I hope that will be enough, although it seems wide. 16.5 is the standard for me.

As many as they think they will shift. Not too keen on their videos, but the bass guys were pretty positive on the same day on the same subject. Mind you, they normally are. Also their videos are mainly about the look.. maybe they weren't blue denim enough for them The more I look at them (the basses, not the anderton people), the more I want one, so I hope they don't turn out to be disappointing.

I have a Mac mini 2012, the last one you could upgrade easily and it runs fine as it has an SSD. I have quite a few computers but they all boot off SSDs. I had an older iMac, 2007, that was a bit too slow, we have what I think must be a 2011 iMac, that has an SSD in so that is ok, but it has older software so it has a few problems. I have a later MacBook, but haven't updated anything past that.
