  1. Maybe I should bring my BC112 cab too, so we can play that 'what is that loud clonk noise in it when I move it round' game
  2. Looks like an RCF Evox, which is what I am using for bass now.
  3. Yesterday, was actually the day, not the evening. It was a pub, not too far away in the deep country. Mains lead going across the road, playing in the village square, which seems to belong to the pub, next to a little stream, sunny, under a gazebo, pretty rural. Lovely afternoon, we dialed down the rockiness, I persuaded the group that we didn't have to do 3 hours, and it made for a chilled and well supported set, with a roast in the middle. Audience were very supportive and I love the outdoor gigs as its just so much easier to do the sound - just turn everything up, although it has to be said, with the 2x RCF Evox 8s outdoor, we were flat out with nowhere to go. Luckily, we didn' tneed anywhere to go, but if we had that would have been it. But it was clear and no complaints from anyone. Landlady loved it too, so free drinks and part of the roast!
  4. Investment is not really a thing in a band, it is time spent, more than an investment, unless it is getting you a very large sum of money. You would be surprised how quickly a new guitarist can get up to speed (and how many of them there are, especially in norfolk), and if you have a guitarist already, they don't need to do it all in one go.
  5. Easy enough to get other guitarists, especially if you already have one. One reasonable guitarist is streets ahead of an amazing guitarist who messes everything up.
  6. Whatever he wants to do - PAs is the only one of those he hasn't covered yet. Or maybe PA system comparisons, thats not something that its easy to get normally
  7. Well.. not that rare
  8. Odd - I would imagine that several people are in that boat too, so they will be able to sort it out easily enough. I got a "Thankyou for your order" email, order #16354 (I am sure I refreshed more times than that), which says it will be 8 weeks, which is what they said in the original email, although they also said that they were sitting in factories around the world ready to go, which seems a contridiction as aliexpress seem to be able to ship something to me from china in a week for £1.20. Edit - I also got an email just before that thanking me for setting up a stylophone account, which now I check has 1 order for a theremin saying 'processing' so probably good. I will expect it to turn up in the second week of october
  9. Need? What is this word, what does it mean in this context - need one?
  10. The preorder is over, it is open to ordering. It takes a lot of refreshes but I ordered one in the end.
  11. Oddly, and somewhat uncharacteristically I haven't bought any basses this year. I have bought a Lava Me Play guitar, but apart from that not much new. Maybe I will bring the Bongo, they are always good for people to like or hate and you don't see many of those in the wild.
  12. Oh conceptally not a problem, or even accuracy, its just manipulating a screen with a finger is always going to be worse than a moving thing, I have the same problems with touch screen on cars, especially when that iPad also has lyrics on it, so you might have to switch to it first. But I did several hundred gigs before getting the X-Touch, so certainly not a huge stress, just quite a bit nicer with it!
  13. For me it isn't tablet that is an issue - I use the tablet most of the time and for most adjustments, but I use the X touch control surface in the gig while playing. As I am singing, playing bass and mixing, a physical control is just easier to hit than a point on the screen when you have a fraction of a second to do it, it just makes it eaiser with not much time to change some levels, which is the 99% job. And it is wired, so worse comes to the worse, if there is a problem with wireless, it is always there.
  14. Yes there is a problem - I will sort it
  15. Hi, Sorry, I didn't see this in general discussion, no I doubt many people know what this is, it actually means 'Too many sales'. A limit was put in last year of the maximum amount of open sales that could exist at any given time, and that error is that you have hit the limit (offhand, it is about 11 I think as I can't count to 10).
  16. The speakers are 1 x Evox 8 and 1 Exox J8, both got when I could get them cheap (so both for under £1000). Our singer isn't particularl clear - which used to worry me then I listened to the straight recording of him, and he actually isn't that clear in general, but a few mic swaps and he is sounding about as good as he can get. Sometimes I feel the evox lack power in some situations but they never lack clarity, going from what we had before really helped the clarity of the vocals. From my point of view, it means I can get it all in the car, without needing something else - I couldn't transport the kit they had and I wouldn't want to lift it. A couple of times I thought the evox 12 would be nice but I couldn't carry it, I don't have the car space for it and I certainly don't have the money for it!
  17. Last night we did a gig with a multi band setup, but with our own PA (which seemed a bit odd, and involved fast changeovers). As usual we had our (my) PA which consists of a pair of EVOX8 speakers, in a variety of colours. I am bass speaker-less these days and go through the PA, not 100% happy with it at the moment but it works in general. The room was shiny floor, shiny ceiling, sounds like a swimming pool, resonant frequency of an E! Got it the best we could, and it sounded clear enough. Group after us, much more professional (and tidier stage which I think was good), good lights (which were on for us too), speakers were a pair of RCF 712s on stalks on top of some furry Eurolive 1800, guitarist DI'd marshal amp, bass player, didn't see what but same thing. Mic'd drum kit. Obviously way more money than our setup. Listened to their first few songs and the vocals weren't at all clear (instruments sounded great). Just seemed way too much for the venue (would have been killer outdoors I would imagine). Such a tidy stage though, jealous of that.
  18. Never seen Guns 'n' Roses then?
  19. no it isn't the case. Not only is that not how it works, that would be tricky to do!
  20. ok, that is handier - before that I had nothing to work on. Not that I have noticed, otherwise my bass wouldn't be on page 5. Looking at some effects pedals, I have some that haven't had any activity and they are on page 4, so no, that shouldn't be happening. But I can look into it now I know what the item was. I looked into the function of the bump up feature (I didn't install it) and know what it does, it puts the date of the post to the time of the bump by changing the last text response. But maybe it is because people are sorting by something, I have never sorted by anything. But I don't know, it is on page 1 now, so I can't tell what is wrong.
  21. I have no idea, I haven't looked at your item. My ibanez that I bumped a few days ago is on page 5, which would seem reasonable. I looked on page 21 of that forum, I don't see anything by you, or page 20/22 but it would be odd if it was that far back, everything there is all sold. without knowing what your items is or any other details I can't really say much more but it doesn't seem to be like what i am seeing here
  22. If you bump it, it goes to the top with nothing else, that is its only point.
  23. Virtually impossible to say, they are different on all my basses, between the bongo and the acrylic bass they are almost the other ends, so it really depends, sorry it isn't more helpful!
  24. Is it that much of a shift? I just looked at the wiki entry for top selling single in a given year ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_singles_by_year_in_the_United_Kingdom ) and the majority of singles going back to 1952 are in an individual name, rather than a group,. When you look at those figures, it is only the 70s and 80s where more songs were made by groups, the 50s, 60s, 00s, 10s and 20s were mostly individual artists (or featuring in the case of the 10s) and the 90s were a tossup.
  25. No, the tube in the ABM is in the preamp, it doesn't know or care what speaker you have connected, which is dealt with by the power amp. If the response you get out of the speaker is different it must be to do with driving the power amp. So no, changing the valve won't do anything.
