  1. Well, there is a little lumpy thing where the headstock goes. In fact, I wonder how those strings fix at that end, it isn't very clear in the images.
  2. Yes as previously mentioned. They are on all the major bass suppliers now, andertons, gak, PMT, dawsons etc, but all 'for order'. Last time I ordered a 'for order' from andertons was last september when I was told it would be available around march. I will wait for 'in stock', in fact I will wait for in stock in PMT so I can go and try one!
  3. Or maybe going back to old, that is exactly the setup on my SR1000 prestige, which is from 2005. Hope the pots are better than they are on that!
  4. Well, you are in luck then, there are no 4 string multiscales
  5. On second thoughts, if the same body is sold with nordstrands, these must be a standard size, so other pickups should go straight in. I already have one big split pickup.
  6. Excellent - I hadn't noticed that, gets the string spacing down to closer to what is normal for me, certainly close enough. I like the jack at the bottom too. Makes it easier to put a wireless in. Wouldn't have chosen locking myself but as I don't use a cable it is not too much of an issue.
  7. They do non multiscales of the 4s and 5s, but no 6. They also don't have that finish on anything but the 6.
  8. Where does the send and return go to on the CTM?
  9. I play that one. It is a noticable one for me as I sing, play bass and do the synth part with my footpedals in the guitar solo. I did mess myself up by having a 4 string in my hand when it started!
  10. My wife met blackie lawless (who she knew) in a bar in LA with a woman. She said 'Hi Blackie, its nice you are bringing your daughter out'. Apparently he didn't find it funny
  11. I thought, not too bad, you can get one less than 1k. But no, not with BH2 pickups. Seems that some people will be happier though, the string spacing is very wide (18mm). I think I might need to try one of these first.
  12. Hmm.. Problem is, all my basses are on hangers - where do I hang this one?
  13. I was just coming here to post this. Oh dear, this is supposed to be my year of cutting down on basses. Looks like that resolution may be failing at the first hurdle! Luckily they are all listed as pre-order so I guess they won't turn up for a while.
  14. First year for ages I have been in. Singer wanted to spend time / singers wife wanted him to spend time with his kids on NYE this year, so no gig. i saw bits of jools, but found that mostly it was better by not watching it but luckily my remote seemed to work, unlike many here!
  15. I was once taking the back seats out of a PT Cruiser so we could load it with thing to take to sell, as I often did and bounced the chair off my knee. I noticed it, but it didn't hurt. However, I had to have my knee replaced in the end.
  16. Well, that fat 6 string precision at the end probably sounds different!
  17. Apart from the TC (which I havre no idea what is in there), my amps are ashdown which means I can just look at the circuit diagram (although also to be fair, there are no input opamps, just fets or valves but same sh*t, different package). So either 20k or 2m for one, and I don't have the CTM diagram to hand on this machine. eta - I don't think the high and low on the CTM is anything to do with impedance (although I am sure it is different), I suspect it is specifically so that you can overload the input on high and not on low.
  18. Interesting, which amplifiers have preamps with inputs go directly to a modern opamp without a resistor divider then? Certainly nothing I have. I don't have any amplifiers with input anything like a GΩ
  19. I havent had any actual trouble where I am out of pocket but sometimes people just stop communicating, or communicate so sporadically you figure it is too risky to deal with them if they don't have time to talk to you before the trade, almost certainly they aren't going to talk afterwards. I know some people aren't actually on the internet that much. that is I know it, I don't understand it
  20. The advantage of using the active input, in fact the whole original point of having an active bass is that an active input is lower impedance than a passive input, which means that any injected noise down the length of your cable is reduced. So in my book it is more you should use active unless you have a reason to use passive, which is with a passive instrument you load the pickups too much and reduce your treble.
  21. My dad had the woodworking skills of an accountant. Sadly he was very keen to exersize those skills, and we had a lot of angled shelves, and wobbly cupboards! One day I came downstairs and he was fitting a sliding door in the kitchen. He was nailing the running board at the bottom in. I said "Dad, you are supposed to use screws for that", He said "Ah, ok, thanks". Next time I came down he was hammering screws in. I didn't say anything.
  22. Well, they have much nicer headstocks than the usual Spector, and look ok, but the Spector I had didn't impress me so seems unlikely that I will get to try a better one to like it. I guess that is the problem with any non standard make, if it isn't a fender or clone you are never going to see one in a shop
  23. Sack the others for making too few and making you look bad
  24. I have never been asked, in fact when I replaced mine it was in an entirely different shop than i bought it (and they knew that), they said they just give them back to fender who replace them.
