I phoned andertons about it, he said, oh yes, its a namm product, that generally stands for 'not available, maybe march?' Turns out they are now showing availability in march!
-
I ordered one of the mustang squiers that were announced last year, but then after a few months cancelled my order, just as well, they are still not out!
-
Looks great. One thing for sure, I will never have a room as tidy as that!

Orange leds are common, I have a Vox effects pedal with a valve and an orange led under it. It has nothing to do with how much power it is using, the heater of a valve works about 6v. Valves can be run without the heater, (cold plate), which is I assume what is done here. But as every fool knows, a valve that doesn't have an visible orange glow doesn't sound anywhere near as good!

We play that sometimes, our guitarist normally puts an extra 1 or 2 bars in the intro, makes it very difficult to work out where to come in, so I leave it to the drummer to interpret how he wants and come in with him.

Is there no 'not buying a rickenbacker' emoji?

Playing different music to what you normally would
Woodinblack replied to Reggaebass's topic in General Discussion
I don't play that (I used to do pump it up by elvis costello, which is a good bass line), but if I did it I wouldn't tend to use the open strings. No idea why, I just don't do it much, so I tend to be more round the 5th-8th rather than 0-3rd. -
Most of mine have 24. I am happy with that, don't need any more.

I have had an HB (jazz) and it was great apart from the weight. It had some cheap parts as you would expect but it really was above its price level in playability. I am one of those people who has had many 5s (mostly 5s) and never really noticed a huge difference between cheap ones and expensive ones. My favourite 5 string is a sub £1k bass.
-
Yes, i guess there are differences, and I am sure there are some that have an attention span that long, I guess I am from a later generation Can't really say about the grateful dead, I couldn't name one of their songs and I have seen several groups that have done 3 hours+ - Jethro tull springs to mind as quite long, I guess hawkwind might have been too, but I doubt I was in a state of mind able to perceive time during their gigs (doubt they were either). Don't get me wrong, we have people who watch our entire sets, in fact at one gig a few weeks back there was a woman who started dancing at our first song and carried on until we finished. I just don't understand it!
-
I am not suprirsed. I am always saying to the group that I don't think that doing 3 hour / longer sets are a positive. People don't want that. There is no group I would want to see for that long.

I knew what the concha was but I was always wondering where the Craniofacial team of texas part of my ear was!

Am so glad there is only one more gig before christmas
-
Fan noise? Does it have a fan then? I haven't seen any pictures of the back.
-
Do like the style of it. Probably not going to like the weight!

That sounds like a great idea. Will suggest that one for next year, the ska version of things go down well.
-
Agree with that, I would just walk. As tempting as it would be to do other things, I would just walk and not have anything to do with them. I would however go to the gig (as an audience), see how they did and so that people can see it is not you being a problem.

Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread (Basschat Cab v3)
Woodinblack replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
Not back to back, but I have played the same venue with the same amp and the different speakers, and the new one seems to have a different sound to the TC112s (2 of). Seems to have a bit more presence in the middle, more importantly it makes my newest SR sound fuller (as it sounded a bit rough before). -
1. Laugh 2 "Hell will freeze over before I do that. Good luck" 3. Slowly finish pint in silence 4. Stand up, walk away, no backward glance, never speak to them again.

Memorable gigs of the year played/attended
Woodinblack replied to Uberkate's topic in General Discussion
1. We played a harbourside festival, hadn't done it before, didn't know it. Started off as a half an hour slot but the band after us bailed so we got extended (which was odd as we didn't know them and they didn't know us). Anyway, afternoon in the sun, crowd that had been drinking, us on a truck opposite the pub(s), great venue for a gig. Setup was us just turning up and plugging in. I do the PA and lights so most gigs are me hauling stuff in, spending time setting it up while the guitarist asks if we are ready for a sound check yet. Played well and the audience liked it, got decent money for something so short. Got asked back. 2. Sadly quite a tricky choice, there were a few. I think my least favourite was a local fair. it was cold, songs were being called out then starting other ones, I thought we sounded bad, we had to sit around for an hour before while we couldn't set up because an old man was playing songs to a backing on a laptop that his daughter was sitting behind on the stage. 3.Steve Hacket, in bath. Loved it, sound was great (not too loud), playing was perfect. 4. Gary Numan in bristol O2. He was great, sound was good for the O2 (unlike the support), but it was way too overcrowded, left before the end. -
Often seems the ego is unrelated to the talent.

Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread (Basschat Cab v3)
Woodinblack replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
Finally got round to gigging it last night. It sounded so clear the band commented on it. Actually they were also impressed with it with the weight and finish of it. loved it, I was pretty happy. now I just need a bag, don't want it to get dented up like the tc 112s (must remember to tuffcab those) -
I disagree. As you say, CV - It is like any other job. If you decide to leave then it is good to give them notice and cover things that need covering. However, if they kick you out, they kick you out. it is up to them to sort out arrangements afterwards.

Power of love by frankie goes to holywood (yes, a christmas song) or by huey lewis (not a christmas song)?
