  1. It is a very good delay pedal though Yeh, but it can't do a big sky though can it?
  2. Supposed to be having a gig in a couple of weeks at a local football club. They certainly have the space and the guy who runs it is a 'character', but we shall see. Noone has mentioned money yet. There are many venues I would do a favour for, that isn't one of them!
  3. hahah - I meant 90215 but I always got that confused with my american zip code (odly, seeing as that was 94133!) But what do you mean dated? Still as relevant today, the story of a bunch of young teens at college where noone likes Shannen Doherty and noone questions why clearly one of the students should have left college a decade ago
  4. Understandable. For me it began a golden age. For me both Genesis without Gabriel and Gabriel without Genesis were better, so it was a win win. Had Gabriel stayed with genesis we wouldn't have had later genesis (which I like) and more importantly, Gabriels solo stuff which I think was hugely significant. What would the world have been like without Gabriel 3 (melt or security or whatever). I love the Yes version, that leaves me cold. I think the snarly roughness of the bass is a contrast to the sweetness of his voice, and without one it is just a bit too unbalanced.
  5. The lamb lies down on broadway is one of the few genesis albums I never got on with. no idea why, I think I heard it later and it just didn't stick in the same way other albums did - trick of the tail was the first 'prog' album I ever heard, I loved it and it is still my favourite. Apart from carpet crawlers I find it a bit forgettable. I would agree with fragile and Relayer, although I even like the later 80s stuff, 90210 was good.
  6. So thats what Awaken would sound like if you took the bass out and over processed it. Think I will stick with the Yes version.
  7. Yeh, mr shuker sent me a replacement preamp for a second hand shuker I bought.
  8. I dont' really know Steely Dan. They are one of my wifes favourites, but they always left me cold, so I didn't bother listening. I have listened a bit more now due the basses but they would never be a favourite. Its odd, some of their bass lines are quite involved, and some are just plodding along doing nothing.
  9. Well, to me not so, I thought his bass was a different colour. I just recognised him by the trousers. Some people you need a clue. I recognised Jamerson by the finger. Probably Jacos bass is quite distinctive Seems they missed a few tricks though as some of the other options they give you you could actually recognise by the bass, such as Les Claypool, Chris Squire, Nikki Sixx, etc.
  10. I would say that thundercats bass is actually fairly distinctive.
  11. Aint no mountain high enough - just because I got it in my head Peg - because I had to learn Josie for my new band and that is the track that always plays after it.
  12. Yeh, that would rule us out too, we are a band to dance and sing to, without that what is the point? Hmm.. maybe time to start a new prog band..
  13. I got 14, but I had never heard of the woman with the thunderbird.
  14. Well, its close!
  15. I don't even see that hahah From my point of view all I see is the scratch on the back and a bit of stuff on the neck. I will say in a positive vein that it has one of the nicest necks, its like clouds. I would like something with a neck like that. Well, not a 4 string P neck but that finish!
  16. Seems you really can!
  17. 3 transistors, 5 capacitors, 5 resistors, 2 pots, a battery and a metal case - £500 - srsly??
  18. People who pay that for a fivers worth of componants in a metal box probably do deserve it
  19. Exactly how I use mine, I have 3 boards, 2 for my main group and one for my other group. Mostly it is 1, but there are 2 songs that use the second board.
  20. half price. But ebay often has a £1 weekend, so I just list things when that is on.
  21. Problem is that whole area is being gentrified really so you don't want downmarket things like musical instruments there where you can have big branches of fashion stores.
  22. Yeh, when we were kids (ie, late teens, early 20s) we used to go up to london and look at all the amazing shops and spend hours in the music / record shops. It hasn't been like that for a while. Last time we went up we wondered really why we were there, it is just basically just more of the same that you can get in any town. For me there is still wunjos, but hardly worth the trip to london considering the time it takes to get clean when you get back!
  23. I read back objectively and don't see it, but it doesn't matter. I think the OP is getting his issue sorted and I hope he can put it behind him and it won't affect his love of the bass. I love my maruszczyk, its one of my favourites (and my wifes favourite colour), but the QC issues I had with it still soured it a little.
  24. This. This would get an immediate F* right off, I paid 2k for this instrument, you can shove it with that attitude.
  25. In which case, as I have argued before, he should get someone else to do the public face then, as I have spent £2000 on custom instruments and had no idea of this as an issue and it wouldnt have occured to me to look into it. There is a difference between thinking 'I want nitro' because I like the way it ages and softens over time to, I want nitro and I am going to do research into the effects and drawback of a particular finish to the level required to do it myself. I have two nitro guitars, neither of them have cracks. But then frankly, if nitro is this bad, how come old time manufacturers like gibson ever managed to sell guitars before the internet? You walk into the store, there are 10 les pauls, I will have the new one with the crack please. There are - neither in this case are with the purchaser. And clearly in this case, you also believe that for every option that someone takes, they should have spent an hour on the internet researching the positives and negatives of the options. If you are the sort of person who does that research then yes, maybe that would seem obvious. If you have time looking into those issues, maybe that would be obvious. Some people buy something because they like the look of it. Can you belive if you go into the electric car thread, there is absolutely no discussion about the chemical composition of the batteries of the electric cars and people are spending 10 times the amount on that? idiots eh? I bet that would be obvious to someone manufacturing them. Yes, so andertons actually put some info on the web about it even though they don't manufacture it. However I think the phrase " Apart from the above, small cracks can appear in a nitro finish after several years too " implies that will be there from day one. Sorry, but you really are saying you must do this research before buying it and its your fault if you don't find info on it.
