Yeh, in the 80s when you went to a pub and there was a group playing, it tended to be all originals with maybe a cover of something in the same style thrown in.
-
I get that, I have bought loads of fancy basses, but ultimately the ones that get played are the SRs. Just get any of the premier SRs in whatever woods you like and you will find they are pretty similar.

The 2605 is sort of like a different range in a way, along with the 2405, sort of like the newer ones. However there isn't much difference apart from the neck, and it plays similar to the 1605 that it sort of shares the base wood with. Other than it is heavier (but nothing like the 5005)

Is it just me who does adequate research?

Even if I know everything about the item, I usually try come up with a relevant question to ask someone before I buy something of value, just because I am more interested in the response, rather than the answer to the question. If they can't be bothered to answer before I give them money, what chance do I have dealing with them once they have my money? -
See if you can get a premium, the older prestige's have the bart pickups (although I love my sr1000, the pickups are better on the 1605/2605, and the current prestige's are more than 500 / 600. the 500s are good (I had one) although not hugely exciting, I don't know the 900 but would expect it to be better. However if you can find a 4 digit one, go for that

Yeh, I leave the house at 7:30 / 8:00, drive to the venue, normally park outside, dump the stuff, set it up, we start at 9 or 9:30, play until 11:30 / 12 or so, load back in the car, home before 1, cash in the drawer

Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches

For the money I will just hire a roadie to do it for me! I just tried the HX now on its own in my room and as loud as I turn it up I am not getting the same thing at all. So no idea what it is, but it seems to be something related to there. Irritating though. -
I didn't even think of the 9 month interest free, but that makes sense as one thing we can guarantee is that our money will be worth less in the future! It also occurs to me that I have a sheet of parchment black white pickguard material in the corner, maybe I will make one of those. -- a few hours later ok, looks like I need to dig out that scratchplate then, it is on the way!

Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches

The guy on the board was far from an idiot - he was friendly and helpful and got a really good sound. The original source was Bass -> smooth hound -> Digitech Jam Man -> HX Effects -> their backline amp -> DI & ashdown speaker. I took them all out one by one until the final thing was just going from my bass to the backline, and then it was fine, so it was certainly the helix. If I had had any sense I would have just turned the helix off first to see if it was that, but you know what it is like when you are panicking. I didn't even try bypassing it, because I assumed it was wireless of power supply for the jam man. Anyway, I will look at it today as I have the day off. -
I have that page open for the last few days right on the edge of clicking!

I was like pink noise I suppose. It wasnt there when there was anything from the bass. Going to try it today -
Does it matter, does anyone actually use those things for anything other than decoration?
-
Yep. I love it. There are many annoyances and irritations on the way although unlike some above, almost all of my gigs are within 5 miles and pay money, today being a far away one for at almost 30 miles but it was nice and sunny.

Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches

Played a gig today on a truck with a proper sound crew and good equipment. Connected up, the sound guy said that there was a lot of noise coming through my rig, and gave me headphones but I couldn't hear it. I assumed it was my wireless so decided to go wired (not like you can go far on a truck anyway). Asked him if it was better and it wasn't, but we had to start so we did. Sadly the noise was clear in the monitor, as soon as I stopped playing it got noisy, like a compressor. I checked the HX effects, no helix in the patch (my normal patch). Turned everything off, still there. After I did baker street and didn't need the looper thing any more, I powered the rest of the rig down, and just went through the HX and nothing else - so Bass -> hx -> amp. Noise was still there. So in the next song I took the cable out and went straight into the cab, noise gone. No idea what it was, will have to check it. But it was the first time I have used it since the 2.8 update so I hope it isn't that. -
A weekend of two halves as often is the way. Yesterday played a sports and social clubs 40th anniversary. The place was fairly packed, but there was a main bar and the alley where we were playing. We didn't see that many people in the area we were playing even though aparently we went down well round the corner where we couldn't see. Didn't enjoy that much. Today, we had an afternoon slot that was extended as I assume someone dropped out, so most slots were 50 minutes, but ours was an hour and 20. On the back of a truck, opposite 2 3 story pubs with balconies on weymouth quayside - ie, litterally, it was behind the truck, every so often you could hear the sound of the bridge going up for yachts to pass behind us. It was the coolest of the days and in the morning it actually looked like it wasn't going to be great with a bit of rain, but it got hot again by the afternoon and was pretty perfect. Professional sound setup and went down really well, thoroughly enjoyed it. There was noise coming from my helix for reasons I don't understand but I skipped that and went straight into the backline and all was well. Hope it wasn't the new update.

Yeh, that is what I was thinking. If it had to stay with the tort guard then the green is a winner, but if I could have a white pearl guard that would go nicely. I am assuming they are close enough to the fender ones.
-
I had been thinking of getting a mustang too. Choice is green or white (or a lot more money for the vitera). The white would be nice but has a tort guard which I couldn't live with. The green is ok
-
I hope not, that would make it unplayable for me. Whereas I don't mind them doing a sunburst as well, its got to be the worst colour so I am glad they have picked others, and to be fair, it is a 60s mustang and mustangs didn't really come in sunburst until the 70s. They did come in red though, which would have been nice to go with the green and white.

Is that when you run the Line6 software updater or after you have tried to update it? -
My wife liked the grey one (I had an SRFF805) and it was ok, but this looks a lot better. I was never keen on the B string looking like it was coming off, but it didn't cause any problems in playing it. I remember trying a SRFF806 at one point thinking the neck was way too huge for me, and I suspect it is the same with this, but if you are a 6 string player, this is a must have I would think.

I suspect if the £ does collapse over that time, they might decide to not honour the price. I suppose ordering it from Thoman or something might work for that. Or maybe just pay in yen up front

Dawsons say they expect it on 12/08/2019 So less than a month. But yes, currency might be plunging soon.
