Fair enough. Steve Wilson is my idea of Prog, and for me builds on the shoulders of Genesis and Yes. Don't get me wrong, I loved them, they were the foundations of everything but I need something a bit fresher. Although obviously Steven Wilson / porcupine tree do kind of love their 12 strings, flutes and melatrons! Spocks beard I find very variable, but some albums / tracks I love and some leave me cold. I suppose like Genesis (not so much Yes).

Oh I wouldn’t listen to dream theatre, I wouldn’t actually consider that prog rock, that’s more metal. Steve Wilson though, or before that porcupine tree, would see him over any genesis incarnation any day. Older stocks beard too. Even considering trick of the tail is my favourite album ever.

I will have my TC112s too - they are the only speakers I have! But anyone elses are probably tidier than mine.

Yeh, there are loads of people with those opinions. They did pave the way for some of the stuff we get now, which is great. It was good at the time, but just like rock coming from the beatles, you can appreciate the origins without having to listen to the same 30 songs for your entire life. Its why it is so hard to do something interesting in prog.

Will see anything with Beggs in anyway. Seems the music box are popular here. Maybe it is because I was never an 'old' genesis fan, I am a 'Rating everything from trick of the tail downwards' sort of guy, so they didn't move me at all. I must admit as a prog guy I have a bit of a problem in that most people I know who want to do prog just want to rehash genesis stuff (or yes). Sure I like them but that was 40-50 years ago and there has been a lot of decent stuff since then

I saw the musical box last year. They are very authentic I suppose, using the right instruments etc, but for me I much preferred Hacket, even with the creepy uncle!

That is a rather nice bass. Still wouldn't mind one of those, but I don't think it is going to happen any time soon!

I wear a watch and a wedding ring, neither get in the way although I used to slide the ring on the edge of the neck, but doesn't seem to happen any more. I only recently started wearing a watch again, which is why I can say it doesn't make a difference.

Local place we do, they don't pay much at all, but have the advantage that they are happy for us to take a better gig at short notice if it comes along, and £50 each is better than nothing. Tiny place too. Anyway, it was a night of lead testing. Setup and had to use all the extra leads to stretch across the door, didn't want to tape across the floor as the last two times we were there, we pulled the floor up (tiles, then the concrete replacement) with the duck tape! Forgot my smooth hound transmitter, so going cable, so have to join that to the board, sound cutting in and out, one of the patch leads is broken at a certain angle, manage to get it in a working position (new one ordered today plus spare). Sound check, couldn't hear the sax. Sax wireless not plugged in. Plug it in, still no sax, then there is, then there isn't. Went to cable on the sax, still nothing, the sax microphone wiring appears to be borked. No replacement for that, so tie a spare microphone with duck tape on the bottom of the singers ipad holder, so he has to stand there. Actually pretty good sound, but variable when he gets into it. Start playing and for some reason tons of distortion in my in ear headphones. Between songs change the channels, nope, replace the batteries, nope, move the lead around, seems to work but nope, finally start to connect my wired in ears, but not much time between songs, so it is going to take at least 3 songs to do (lucky the guitarist is so slow at tuning and needs to do it every song), during that time I am not wearing in ears, which is a pain as I am singing. I notice distortion in the PA (which I am right next to), the guitarist asks what that noise is. Long story slightly shorter, finally find out that it is my voice live that when I sing at any sort of volume has a digital break up thing. Need to work out what is going on with that.

Is it just because you are unsettled due to the changes?

Note - you do need to use an isolated supply for the smoothhound if you have any digital effects pedals, such as a helix or zoom.

Well, that can't be so hard to find in the states

Not a full set, no but I have replaced a few and done a few tunings. Trickier than it seems. But yes, most pianos have the strings put on when they are made and last for ever with them.

Like those litte humbuckers. I would certainly gig that. Bet it weighs a bit though.

We play Billie Jean in our set. I am sure we will carry on playing it. I haven't seen the program and I have no idea whether he was or wasn't those things that he is claimed to be, but I don't really associate it with the music. If anyone ever asks us not to play it then we will, but I would be surprised if they did. Most people down the dog and duck don't really care about that much other than getting drunk.

That is what I have. Smooth hound going into a jamman then a zoom then out. Or Smoothhound going into a helix HX which has a jamman in the loop, then out.
