I would like both the strap and the stand that this guy made: The strap is easy (except getting the hook thing), the stand might take a bit more work. So what sort of action do you have in mms, and it is consistent from the X to the 24th fret? The thing I am concerned about with the bridge is that it says if using bass reciprocal contact them for longer bridge pins, but I don't have shorter bridge pins and I am going from bass reciprocal to standard. I guess I will find out. There are certainly a lot of playing styles! Almost a confusing amount when you start, as none of the starting things tell you where the notes are in case it is in another tuning. I do find that starting up, some of the information that is available for other instruments - string height, string gauge, what the knobs on the pickup block do*, how flat the board should be etc is a bit hard to find. I know, low numbers of people but with so few people out there with one, I think there should be clearer info. I also don't know what you could do to improve a stick, but I bet some people do. I don't think a slide would work as is, because a slide needs pretty hard strings, otherwise you just bash off the frets. Like with a guitar, its hard to use a slide with light gauge strings, or very low action. Talking about slides though: * yes, I have found that now, but didn't for a while.

Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches

I am using it on a chapman stick. So I have stereo input (not actually stereo, dual mono) each which need a compressor. Then I have a volume pedal, full time on the melody side and switchable on the bass. Then reverb chorus and echo. Then could do with an amp to be honest. For the bass I rarely run out of blocks (but I do use them all), for the guitar I have got to the limit several times. Seriously? You think that is it now, their designers can just pick up their stuff and go of walking or something, as that is it for effects pedals? honestly, there is a long way to go. Go and have a look at the pedalboard thread, could some of those be replicated on a helix? Not even close. So yeh, a long long way to go. and they hardly have something for everyone, as clearly I am asking for something they haven't done yet, but is fairly obvious. If you can't imagine what else could be needed maybe you have missed your calling in the fender bass design department 😀 i want the functionality of the helix in a box the size of the stomp. This isn't a money thing, this is a size thing, I don't have room for the helix, but the stomp or the HX effects don't have the blocks, or in the case of the stomp, the control and blocks. and beyond that I can think of several effects pedals that can't be replicated in a helix. Why can't you imagine that those could be done too? -

No, it doesn’t. I guess I will just wait, it is pretty inevitable they will make one at some point! -
It does seem good, especially when you consider their 5 string sets are around £30 and this is for 10 of them! The main saving though is the shipping and customs charges really. I would assume so - it is a big old chunk of aluminium (well, its actually aluminum as its american), so can't imagine it is going to change much. I still don't know how high the strings should be from the top of the rails, and how much bow you are supposed to have in a neck if any, I guess I will find out when they turn up. Yes. One think I have thought about now having flitted around the edges of the stick community. Emmet is a friendly and very helpful guy (he has emailed me a number of times), as are a lot of the others, but there is some element of control you don't get in other instrument worlds. Obviously he designed this thing and makes them, and has a very vested interest in its development and guidance, and I am sure it is like this when an instrument starts up, but I think that maybe in years to come, when there are more around and the patents all expire, things like that bridge, the way it is strapped on, things like that are going to go the way of the dodo, because they aren't the best way of doing things. If other people had an input they would say, oh lets add this, or change that. Like the bridge and pickups on a rickenbacker, it is a very early design and it is a bit flawed for a lot of people. If they had had the full rights to the bass, and noone could make one, there are many developments and maybe even styles of music that wouldn't develop. OK, there are loads that like them apparently, which is fine, they are there for those people, but maybe there are loads of ways of playing a stick that aren't currently possible because all sticks have to be done this way? I intend to make a strap the way that guy on youtube did his, because that makes a lot more sense to me, and I would certainly like the stand he had, it is a pain to play it sitting down!

Effectively in a way that would work but that would be 2 loads of 3 buttons, rather than a load of 6. i guess an hx effects for the input and a stomp for the amps would work (with some kind of midi to connect patches) but I would inagine you are getting if for the size of an LT by then! -
I do also have a bit of filtering on his vocals too to get rid of the most troublesome of high frequencies, although you certainly can't get rid of all of it. It is lucky that as loud of a drummer he is, he is also a pretty loud singer, so that helps.

The Electric XII is a great design, I like the way the headstock looks like it was left out in the sun. "What are we going to do with the headstock on this, its a bit dull - I know, extend it a bit and make it droop over" I loved the elite II, I almost got one (not in that colour it has to be said) but then I realised how much I didn't like Ps, and that I didn't play 4 strings, but it was still somehow tempting!

Well, that would be handy I suppose, but not really what I am after, as the stomp is also no good to me due to a lack of blocks (although specifically in the stomps case, also a lack of buttons). I am more after full helix capabilities, ie, extra DSP capacity in something the size (and button count) of the HX Effects. Basically I want a helix that is small enough I can use on a pedalboard. I am thinking the HX Effects size is about as small as you can get away with, or maybe a bit smaller (6 buttons), I assume as with all things, it is just a matter of time -
Would you buy a bass from an eBay seller not responding to emails?
Woodinblack replied to largo's topic in Bass Guitars
If you assume the answers are the worst possible answer but are still happy at the price, buy it. Just don't your breath for a quick shipping. I really don't understand why people are so terrible at communications -
For me the one that worked. The best thing that happened was PG leaving genesis, for both him and them. I would say that guy in Greta Van Fleet. Oh, and Ian Gillan in Black sabbath, not so good.

Are Gibson classifieds going to be banned?
Woodinblack replied to prowla's topic in General Discussion
Which means gibson would have difficulty competing as it would very hard to get less rigorous quality control! -
I have IEMs and a singing drummer, not really an issue for me, I just turn him down a bit in my IEMs and it doesn't cause me an issue!

Im guessing there are no rumours of new products then - seems a while that they have been out now. I am still waiting for my 'helix in a hx effects footprint' box! -
Oh I can't imagine I will be seriously gigging it for a while, I meant I couldn't play it as much as I wanted as I had a few general gigs to do, so I didn't have time. I have at least started to get more familiar with it. I spent time yesterday making an HX Effects patch for it. I ordered the strings from Netwone, who now have them on their website for £30 and £1.20 - for some reason getting information on strings is a bit restricted but the info is out there. Bit nervous about setting it up, but it is the most important thing.

But the buttons are also for that as well, you can assign any effect to any button, even if something else is assigned to it, so the button turns multiple things on and off. -

I use the Vitoos ISO8* as well, I had to use the B3 on one of the isolated outputs to stop the noise getting round. I did try a Vitos ISO4 on the belief I might be able to power a helix HX on it, but I was wrong!
-
Don't know how you are powering it, but if my B3 is chained with anything it craps Digital noise all over the place. It has to be isolated.

Oh yes, the volume blocks, makes sense. That takes 2 blocks, leaving 4, I also need compression, so two separate compressors, I guess that means I have just two effects blocks to play with. I haven't actually used snapshots at all, I still use the box like a whole load of effects pedals that I turn on and off. I really should spend a bit of time with it! -
I'm amazed, you mean it is possible to have some kind of shop outside london?? 😮
-
Use one of those Joyo ZGP power supply filters. Tried it on my pedalboard rewire as occasionally my smoothhound has some noise to it, completely killed the noise live.

Because I haven't had a chance (as my HX is on my pedalboard), so before I take it off and try, I want to connect a stereo instrument to it (yes, its a chapman stick), split the stereo to two mono paths and connect a volume pedal which can either control the volume of one channel or optionally both channels, ie, bypass the volume on one channel. Does that sound like something I could do? I do think that I am probably going to run out of effects blocks on the HX pretty soon, I think if I ever get to gig this thing, I am going to end up going for a full helix. Or maybe just connect the stick to a behringer xair mixer and then to the HX effects. -
Although I have found 2 good bands through JMB, it is amazing how many people put an advert up and then don't respond to you or reply once and then don't reply again. Why would you ever do that?
-
Its his band. basically, and I enjoy the rest of band

Maybe they should make a JoinMyBand-pro, where you have to pay, to filter people out who are not serious. And have a feedback of replying time!
