Its a variable resistor (or trimmer), the put a couple of holes there to give you options

Is the K5 not normal spacing for an ibanez. If so then I am sure I would not have a problem.

Like this you mean? https://blog.xkcd.com/2010/05/03/color-survey-results/

I played a fender 5, it seemed ok but I am the opposite - the strings are so far apart I can't play it smoothly, I miss the strings.

NSD Fender Flatwounds (vs D’Addario chromes)
Woodinblack replied to chickenjames's topic in Accessories and Misc
Interested. I have never done much with chromes. I have them on my iby fretless but don't play that much (and don't really like them) but I played an old jazz bass the other day with them on and they were great. My local shop don't have flat wounds so interested in seeing what is around. Probably have to be 5s though as I don't really play any fours -
Me too, but I was sitting in town today for 5 minutes while my wife was chatting to a vegetable seller (no, I have no idea why it has to take so long either). By the time she had finished I was pretty mesmerised by them all going around, especially one boy who was desperately trying to show off to all the girls. He didn't seem to be having much luck. Pretty peaceful in the middle of a shopping day Back on the knob front, I have the same issue. I have my Iby 5005 which I took out the original pre for a glokenclang, but have gone from Vol / Balance / Bass / Middle / Mid Freq / Treble and a switch for bypass to Vol / Bal / Bass / Mid / Treble and a pull on the volume for bypass. So i have one too many pots and one too many switches. I left a blank pot in, but there is a hole for the switch. But leaving in the switch wasn't so good as I forget which one it is! I might see if I have some rosewood left to fill the hole

Went for natural, but obviously depends on the bass. An ibanez in natural (either spalted poplar, or wenge) is great, as would be an ACG or a Alpher. A fender in natural would be terrible, when it should be in either black, olympic white or buttercream.

The Proper Way To Give Notice To Your Band
Woodinblack replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
If it was, would you? -
No - but getting involved is something I have spent a lot of time trying, so will never be used as an excuse. Obviously in the end you are never going to win but certainly not going to help!
-
I used to buy it at maplin. Got the last reel when it was closing down so will be fine for a while.
-
There is one for sale on here. At least one
-
Yeh, I wouldn't do that. Your relationship, your problem, I am not getting involved!
-
use solid wire for circuit connections. Stranded is a compromise used when you need flexibility

I have a P bass. I don't hate it, I don't enjoy playing it either, and don't play it much any more but my mum bought it for me, so I will hang on to it. I have played a couple of awful P basses though. Haven't played a bad jazz yet.
-
Yes, but that is exactly what it sounded like when they were playing it - that was the sound. Looks aside (Think it is one of the better looking basses), it plays nothing like the short scales, they are good basses to play (except upper fret access). Although getting back to bridges, the modern ones aren't good, the originals were ok. I had an EB5 (2013). Very light, very well balanced, sounded fantastic. Ugliest thing going though, and strings too wide for me.

Some music just sounds best in the car!
Woodinblack replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Basically anything with a lot of dynamics or quiet sections don't work in the car. A lot of classical stuff, some quieter prog stuff etc. Straight modern rock / pop works better in the car where it is compressed to 0dB like everything since the 90s. I generally listen to radio 6 in the car. Used to be radio 4 but that got too depressing. Sometimes going back to music again since Lauren Laverne took over the breakfast show! -
New practice amp for home mark bass cmd 101 v tcbg250 112
Woodinblack replied to Flea59's topic in Amps and Cabs
i gigged for ages on a TC250-12 and loved it so I would go for that, although if space is a problem they do smaller sized. If it is just for home use you could go for something like a PhilJones double four - more expensive again but you could get one second hand. Or as above, either a TC250-208 or a BAM200 and maybe a 10" cab. Personally I use a CTM100 and 2 TC1x12, but it is true to say that isn't so great at space! -
Oh yes, I forgot I put them together the other day for a family shot

Must be some screws somewhere for it. Seems like they should go longer to reach the gaps there.
