  1. I love gigging. Normally we are doing 2 or 3 gigs a month, but this year is a bit weird, so far done 3 gigs, but don't have anything for 4 weeks, and then nothing for 4 weeks after that - various holidays and new jobs getting in the way. I did join a new band (as well) last year, and we may be doing our first gig in 5 weeks, so that should be good. Shame they weren't ready earlier, could do with something to fill the spaces! Unlike others here, I play the bass at home a lot. Sometimes the keyboard, occasionally the guitar, rarely the flute, but pretty well every day I play the bass.
  2. No it isn't all. Guitarists - bloody Guitarists
  3. Yeh, sadly not much of a way round that apart from a hope that when it has all calmed down, those things said in anger will be overlooked for one of those understandable things that happen. Only time is going to tell on that, and of course, probably depends on how bad the injury to his daughter turns out to be.
  4. Haven't they left? I don't know, something like that isn't an every day event so decisions about future events should probably be left until people have had a chance to cool down and think about it.
  5. Oh god no, I couldn’t wear one of those unless I was in a 70s classic pop group! Everyone had belts like that in the 70s, or at least my parents generation did
  6. They are available in leather or as a vegan option. My wife is a vegan and when I mentioned my lack of blue strap she offered to get this. I love paisley anyway. I am not specifically fussed about vegan but if I can get a thing that’s just as good but nothing had to suffer for, it’s a no brainer. I really like the size adjustment and plectrum holder bit
  7. Handy I suppose if you broke your headstock!
  8. Got one of these for the new blue bass - I didn't have a blue strap so I ordered one of their vegan ones in paisley blue. Just turned up, rather nice!
  9. Glad for those working there that it has been rescued, although as it has gone down the tubes twice in 5 years and been rescued, maybe it needs some sort of structural change. I must admit to not understanding how it can stay functional.
  10. Even if they were, wouldn't that be the same as any other manufacturer having different models? Like I said, the fender J and P, not really that much difference.
  11. I don't see how there is an overlap? There is the SR range and the BTB range (and the other ranges). As an SR player, the BTB range is no use to me (necks to wide / long). They look nice but I couldn't play one. Or do you mean the overlap like fender with the J and P basses? Or the Strat and Telecaster?
  12. It has to be said that for songs where there are a ton of tutorials, at least 3/4 of a ton of them are wrong! That is what I tend to do, learn what is right and then decide how I am going to play it, armed with what I know about it
  13. That is a lot of money for an EB-3 with damage. Gibson basses never commanded the sort of money old fenders did. I almost bought a 1965 EB a few years ago for £1k, but then remembered I didn't really like them. That didn't have a neck break.
  14. Remind me to try that some time. Mind you, I don't have a thumpinator so I would only be able to check it against the specs
  15. Actually you could do it without that, just using a couple of normal branches. Or an impulse response. Or even a graphic equaliser!
  16. Reverb is just a selling site, it is whatever people want to sell it at. You will notice that people like the bass gallery advertise there stuff on there for £50-100 more than in their store. I assume others do to
  17. Oh yes, just a hex inverter. It will sound pretty dirty and glitchy, so maybe it is working (its a logic circuit effectively rather than an amplifier). It should probably sound a bit like this:
  18. The rag and cd cover is just covering a name, but take no notice as it has no name? hmm.
  19. Has a good (lack of) fret access - I think that beats the SR705 for its 30th fret access! * Think it looks rather good, if I wanted a fretless * By my dodgy screen measuring calcuations, that would give you access to 35 frets, or almost 3 octaves, although I am guessing intonation might be a bit tricky there!
  20. So in bypass is it exactly the same as the sound of the guitar? hard to tell if the description of the effect sounds like it’s broken or supposed to sound like that!
  21. Well, if it has a passive bypass switch, which if it has a 3PDT switch it sounds like it has, then at a minimum, regardless of power or anything else, you should be able to connect a bass at one end, an amp at the other and with it set to bypass it should pass straight though - if it doesn't do that then at least you know it is the wiring rather than the circuit.
  22. Well, if the LEDs come on, so it has power, it sounds like some problem in the output wiring (as you would hear a click or something when power turned up), or if it has a passive bypass switch, a problem with your switch wiring. I would buzz that all out and check it was as you expected
