The Ibanez ATK - Ibanez's 'other' bass. I have made a decision to sell everything I am not gigging or at least using. I have gigged this and often pick it up. It sounds really good, more like a stingray than an SR ibanez (or btb), a very tight sound compared to the other basses I have. Problem is that I am terribly shallow and I don't like the look of it. I got it in trade ages ago on here, and had been interested as I had played on in a music shop and loved the sound. Still do, but it isn't getting gigged, so off it must go. In generally good condition apart from an odd staining down the side of the fretboard that it had when I got it. I wasn't able to clean it up (I didn't try that hard it has to be said), so I have no idea what it is. Needless to say it doesn't affect anything apart from looking odd. Has a triple coil pickup with an odd switching arrangement, where one coil is always in parallel for humbucking, but is not in front of the strings. Sounds good though. When switching between the settings at home it seems to make little difference but when playing live it really does. This is very much a gigging bass, even down to the headstock, designed to defend your stage position against over enthusiastic singers. He knows when he hits the end of this! Note the screws in the pickguard currently not there, I took it off, preffered the look but now can't remember where i put the screws. However, I will find them before sale! Can pickup from Yeovil, or I can deliver for a reasonable distance, often go to Bristol / Bath / Exeter etc or can meet in the middle somewhere. Lacking boxes to ship at the moment but feel free to ask. Not looking for any trades, trying to cut down.

I have made a decision to sell everything I am not gigging or at least using. Bought this quite recently on here, it was the one that was heavily discussed as to what the model was, I believe the Q5 pro is where it ended up. Anyway, nice bass, looks great, sounds great, the string spacing and the neck are not for me, its a bit wider at the nut than I like which probably puts it closer to what other people want. This is fair enough, I bought it as an entry to the Spector world to see if I would get on with them as I always thought they looked good and sounded good. Anyway, its got a couple of dents and it is missing the TRC, but apart from that all good. Can pickup from Yeovil, or I can deliver for a reasonable distance, often go to Bristol / Bath / Exeter etc or can meet in the middle somewhere. Lacking boxes to ship at the moment but feel free to ask. Not looking for any trades, trying to cut down.

Local pickup price £200 - although can discuss that! I have made a decision to sell everything I am not gigging or at least using, and although I have gigged this a few time, and it sounds awesome for some songs, it is really missing a string for me so it probably needs to go. This might be the one I regret selling though, as I always wanted a thunderbird. This is the Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro IV, which means it is the one with the vintage brown finish (obviously) and is the neck through rather than the cheaper bolt on they do, and it is also the one with the Gibson pickups. It does sound pretty thunderous. Must admit I haven't gigged it with the ashdown valve head yet, might give that a try. Anyway, in generally ok condition, apart from a few dents on the head, which is normal for my basses, especially this where the head is so far away from you. It also has a scratch in the back which I have no idea how it got there as I don't wear a belt. Photos of both below though. Can pickup from Yeovil, or I can deliver for a reasonable distance, often go to Bristol / Bath / Exeter etc or can meet in the middle somewhere. Lacking boxes to post at the moment, but could do if I can find some. Not looking to trade, trying to cut down on numbers

I have made a decision to sell everything I am not gigging or at least using, and although i have gigged this live and love it, it is missing a string for me, I pretty well only play 5 strings. I have always had comments when I have done a gig with this, it makes a statement and certainly stands out. Strangely, mostly positive. Bought it on here at the beginning of last year, knowing I only played 5 strings but was really wanting an iceman. This was ibanezes attempt to make an iconic shape after they got a bit kicked by gibson in the 70s. The guitar is still made, they only rarely make the bass, and almost always in black, the guitar gets more love. Its a nice bass to play although it is a little head heavy as the body weighs nothing and the neck is quite long. The strap pin has been moved which helps a bit. I don't know what the pickups are but they sound good. I have made it active with bass and treble as it needed it as I don't like passive basses. Has a scratch on the back that I did somehow and some damage along the bottom which was there when I got it, unfortunately the shape of the iceman means that if you stand it on the ground it is going to take a lot of force there as there is a point. It is also not going to balance well Looking to sell rather than trade as I am reducing my numbers down. The only thing I would be interesting in trading for would be a 5 string iceman. Can pickup from Yeovil, or I can deliver for a reasonable distance, often go to Bristol / Bath / Exeter etc or can meet in the middle somewhere. Could post though that depends on the other basses I am selling, I currently lack boxes.

Reduced to £520, but feel free to discuss anyway Its my Ibanez Portamento 5 string fretless up for sale. I have made a decision to sell everything I am not gigging or at least using, and as much as I enjoy playing it when I pick it up, I don't pick it up often and I have never gigged it, my band doesn't give me much of an opportunity to play fretless stuff and it is too nice to leave idle. Note there is a £1 listing on ebay tomorrow so i will list it there too. So as the normal specs, it is a 5 string fretless with a neck that goes to about the 30th fret, 16.5mm normal SR string spacing, to pickups and a piezo in the bridge (I normally just use that). Individual volume to balance the pickups on the piezo on the back, that i have never touched. Volume, balance, bass, treble for the bartolini normal pickups, independent volume tone for the piezo. Good condition apart from a scratch on the neck, which there is a picture of Apart from a week when I put normal strings on it, it has always, and is currently fitted with D'addario chrome flats. Not sure of the weight, more than the 1605, less than the 5005 Lovely bass, just not for me. Can pickup from Yeovil, or I can deliver for a reasonable distance, often go to Bristol / Bath / Exeter etc or can meet in the middle somewhere. Will ship if you want at cost with insurance. Not really interested in trades on this, as I am cutting down, although if you want to just swap with a 6 string SR Premium such as a 1x06, then I will be interested.

Oh stop it, I am trying to avoid this bass!

"Right - this thing is a BASS GUITAR - its like an ordinary guitar but larger, so jump around and move your hands a bit, make it look like you are having fun, people who have BASS GUITARS like having fun and jumping and grinning, because it is so much fun"

Although best to get a tuner than can cope with it if you are going to use one.
-
I only do if they are out of tune in that order
-
Very interesting 5th machinehead position. Some nice wood too. Not something that appeals, but I suppose if they were your initials it would work!
-
I tune the one that is out of tune the most first, then the others. then I do the B.
-
Better playing.. than this?
-
They are - you can ask for what you want so what you are seeing is what his customers want. There is a list of the woods he has (including flamed maple), and I am sure if there was something specific you wanted he would look into it. If you scroll through http://archive.acguitars.co.uk the overall impression is that half the basses are light and half are dark.

It is. Although I have bought 3 albums in the last 3 days. One because of a post on here!

whats that thing between the last two knobs? Oh, and by the way, did you notice its back to front? (didn't want to dissapoint)

Noticed after reading this, they are on 25% off offer on RichTone

I have had that a lot recently after joining a band that plays motown and 50s-60s stuff, (and started a thread about it) and I know very little of it, so when they say 'don't worry its a standard', it is stuff I really don't know. And in a way that is nice as not only do I discover new things, I discover it by playing it. Luckily most of it is easy enough to wing. In fact there is a lot of stuff I know in the last few years from playing in cover bands that I never heard before, some good and some not so good (and some, like oasis, that I wont do). Most rock based stuff from the 70s onwards I have heard though, I was always around groups of people who liked rock music, so pretty well all 80s rock and a lot of 70s rock where it was something a friend of mine liked. Strangely not the Stones and Who, I never knew anyone who listened to that sort of stuff, was considered old stuff (even though most people like zepplin etc) and a lot of american stuff that didn't really feature like springsteen or grateful dead. So those listed groups I would have never heard a whole album and only recognise 'hit' songs (apart from grateful dead - wouldn't recognise anything from them).

Thats one days gigging, when I am almost completely a fingers player! -
TBH - one note tells them that the signal chain is working, and what a rough level is, and then it is very easy to adjust the level when you are playing.

I got some wooden ones for christmas, although I don't use them much, just for a couple of songs. but because I was playing 5 hours on NYE, I was resorting to using it a lot as my fingers were a bit blistered. I have worn the plectrum down already! -
I had a 70s Ibanez fireglow, it was my first bass, I really loved that thing. I think it cost me £20, and I had it for years before it was stolen. Would love another, but they are silly money.

So, I’m thinking about a new head, Class D with a valve pre....
Woodinblack replied to Wilco's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a TC RH450 and a Ashdown CTM100. The RH is a lot more controllable and a lot more portable, they both sound good but different. I take the CTM out if I am feeling enthusiastic, and I have space, otherwise I take the RH out. I doubt anyone in the audience can tell the difference, but I think the CTM sounds better (although the RH does overdriven preamp better), a bit fuller Strangely enough, I play the CTM in the house, the RH is always in its gig bag ready to go. -
Was that the ric or the copy? It has to be said in that case thought that the tone he gets these days is pretty similar on a precision

Well, I am not familiar with the Yamahas, so while I am sure they are lovely instruments, there isn't that much likelyhood that unless I found one really cheap and played it and fell in love with it it is going to happen. Not that unusual in the signature models, I suspect that not that many people are that worried about that, I'm certainly not, I have never used any of my ibanezes passive - actually thinking about it, active / passive switching is a relatively new thing, my SR1000 prestige from 2005 doesn't have passive. The GVB36 didn't have it either. The signature models are all different, the GVB36 was backwards, which caught me out a few times, treble closest to the volume. And for an Adam Nitti bass, its a bit of a bargain! https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/Ibanez-ANB-1006-Adam-Nitti-Transparent-Blue/art-BAS0007789-000

I just looked. They look nice but are certainly not cheap are they!
