  1. The tribute pickups are the same pickups as the USA pickups. The M pickups are underwound by about ⅓ from the L pickups to reduce their output as the standard MFD pickups are so hot. When I was looking it took me forever to find a G&L bass! I even thought when I was driving round the states I would find some but still failed to find any then, so no, I bought the first reasonable L2500, and I have never had a chance to find an M2500. I would imagine it would be the same but quieter.
  2. Yep, exactly the same cost: When your item sells, you pay 10% of the final transaction value, including postage. We call this a final value fee. We cap final value fees so you'll never pay more than £250 for a single item. So it doesn't matter where the money comes from, you pay the fee on it. So if you want to charge the right amount for postage, you need to add it to the fee. But it is also why in ebay you can select for price + p&p when you sort.
  3. Its irrelevant what the payment / postage breakdown is isn't it? I mean if it £100 plus £40 postage its £140, so it is the same cost as something that is £120 and £20 postage. The fees for eBay are on the total cost plus shipping, as back in the day there were a lot of people that took the fosters (especially chinese dealers), where it would be 97p and £50 postage.
  4. We tend to start without our singer on the second set, one of the songs that the drummer sings, it sort of reminds him to get back to the stage.
  5. I would think all types of genesis fans would want proper drums, although for the ones that want phil singing, that would be pretty easy to do!
  6. If you like fat P bass necks then yes, you would find the sandbergs excellent.
  7. I have been going downwards with power. My main amp is a rh450 but I also take out the ashdown ctm 100. It’s quieter but certainly never been too quiet!
  8. It says about him in a negative way, saying yes there is racism, but don't tar the whole south as racist and we won't tar the whole north as corrupt. Neil Young says he would rather play sweet home than Alabama, as he said his song was too simplistic. Actually it was the two songs 'alabama' and 'southern man'.
  9. It does. The L is entirely passive with an active buffer, so the active preamp just buffers the line signal to stop the loss on the cable, which was obviously the point of actives when they started (although it also has a treble boost option), and that is why the tone and bass are cut only.
  10. The M was the update to reduce the windings on the MFD pickups and make them more useable with other devices. They were brought out later but they were always hard to find. I wanted an M2500, but ended up with an L2500 becuase they weren't available anywhere (not that the L was much at the time). It has a better EQ, in that it is boost and cut active tone control, where the L2500 has a passive bass and tone control, so does cut only.
  11. I switched channnels and it was on just when he was on stage, badly miming. I thought it was a comedy thing to start with. I couldn't have watched that! I did wonder why a cover band was so popular though, and if the singer was trying to be a real life incarnation of Anthony Kieidis's heavy metal character in the Dani California video.
  12. I put flats on my L2500 which I think was a bit of a mistake, I am not a fan but I thought it would be nice on there, but seems I should have listened to myself. Shame really, they are quite expensive! I am not sure on the active question (the pickups aren't active), but it doesn't sound any difference on mine between active / passive, but I have good quality cables!
  13. OK.. so you only buy things you would complain about if you got stuck with? Seems an odd way of doing things, but your choice!
  14. When it was first offered, ie, when it took it out a few years ago, it was a pretty cheap deal, so that probably wouldn't be sustainable.
  15. And I know some of those very few!
  16. I have done the 26 week accelerator course which was an addition on top of my lifetime membership (which I don’t use much), I think it has been well worth the money and I have learned stuff and genuinely believe I have got better from it. yes, he can go on a bit but that is his style. I met him at the London bass show and he was friendly and pleasant. Good luck to the guy I say.
  17. You think that is bad, some people buy cars for over 20k and 3 years later they have lost over 10k. In the same time the bass has only lost 1.5k!
  18. With the sad news about Ranking Roger
  19. I always fancied an M2500, as the pickups aren't quite as hot as the L2500, so a bit easier to blend things in. Having said that, I had been looking at jazz basses and the G&L new ones look good. Actually I would love to try an SB-2 to see what the neck is like, noone seems to have any though
  20. Have you never got a bass thinking it would be one thing but turned out it wasn't, or even tried a bass that seemed ok but you didn't get on with it? I know I have. What is the difference between a 3k bass and a £300 bass? Simple answer, one persons lot of money is another persons not impulse purchase. Also if you have a designer bass you can't actually try it until you have it, because it isn't made yet. And obviously on a designer bass you are going to lose a lot, but if it is the thing you want, then that might not matter.
  21. Might be worth mentioning it there?
  22. They don't neck dive but yes, the neck does feel long, although not really long. It does however feel in the right place unlike the hohner cricket bat bass where you just miss by 2 frets. It does and it is a rock bass. You put it on and you feel like a rock player in a way you don't with a jazz.
  23. Our singer has no respect for personal space, ie, my personal space, so is often hitting the end of my headstock. The thunderbird has hit his head a few times. On the plus side, it is roundy unlike the iceman, that looks like it really hurts!
  24. Oh Mr Beato? Oh yes, I am subscribed to him. Can learn a lot from his videos. I have posted a few here.
