  1. Makes them pretty secure but hard to get them off the wall when you want to play them!
  2. mine have always been hung on the wall and have never had any problems. Apart from once, when the hanger fell off as I used screws that were way too short!
  3. Whereas I like the nords almost better than almost any other pickup, the pickups on the Prestige 5005 is very impressive. When I bought it I also got a nord big blade as I thought I didn't like the barts, but these barts are very different from the normal. And very different from each other, so the stayed. They really go from deep growl to soft and smooth. Much better than the barts on the previous prestiges, and the main ranges. It would be hard to say now between the 5005 and 1605 which one I preferred the sound of, although it is nice the 1605 that it weighs half of the 5005!
  4. I had an SRFFmultiscale too and couldn't get on with it as the tone was just dull and flat. I had a 505, that was better but not that much character (quite a solid bass in other ways) Really nothing to do with the body though, the 1605 and 5005 have the same bodies and they are nothing like it, I think the difference is just down to the pickups. I did almost put some nord singles into the SRFF, but they are £300 for a custom set for that size, so that didn't seem a good deal when I already have all the others.
  5. I have the same one. I am not a fan of P basses, and generally speaking, I probably shouldn't like it as its neck is too deep, the spacing is too wide, I don't like tobacco sunburst, but something about it just works, and on the list of basses I am going to get rid of next year, it doesn't feature
  6. I am selling my Roli Seaboard 25, as I have decided I run out of keys too much so I have a Seaboard 49 on order. As much as I would like to keep both I can't really justify that! So £310 and you pick it up at my house in Yeovil. Or somewhere in somerset / dorset area within 30/40 miles of Yeovil for a bit of petrol. Or if I happen to be going that way (I go to Bristol / Bath often, and Exeter occasionally). Or I can post for the cost of posting via an insured signed for service. The one with the rubber keys, or keywaves as they are known. Basically a continuous playing surface with the hint of keys, really hard to describe what it is like playing with one as there isn't much that is the same, although if you want to do synth basslines, you really can do it well with this. It is an MPE surface, which means instead of having one channel with note on / note off, pitch bend etc, each note uses a channel to itself so you can pitch bend each note independently etc. so you can slide between notes and up notes etc. This is the most expressive form of keyboard playing you are going to get, I would do a demo but you would be better off watching someone like Marco Paraisi on youtube demoing it, or that bloke from Dream Theatre. Or that bloke with St Vincent. Never was good with names. Yes, I know it isn't a bass but I thought I would advertise it here until eBay do another one of their £1 sale things. And if you get really good with it, you sound like this:
  7. Well, Yes, me too but I wouldn't pick a fender in the first place. however, if I was the type to pick a fender, I would assume they have a better second hand sale value.
  8. I just bought a Roli 49, but I guess that would be allowed anyway as it isn't bass! I won't be able to join in with your group - I am too weak, but hopefully I can end next year with less stuff than I start it with, that is the aim.
  9. What with our exchange rates tanking with brexit and all, I am guessing they will start to get a bit less common here! I saw that headless, it looked really nice, I am sure you are going to love it. I still have room in my collection for a headless frog, but I think combine with the comment above, its not something that is going to happen any time in the foreseeable future!
  10. Just had a spam from GAK - in their "special christmas deals" they have the stomp at £465. Was there a time when it was more than £465? Or do these shops assume that we have no memory. Honestly things like that make me not trust some shops
  11. Hopefully when you get it back you can learn to trust it. I must admit it wouldn't work for me, but it is a very beautiful bass and it would be a shame not to use it.
  12. I don't doubt it - these things don't stand still, the other manufacturers will be making new things soon. You are only as good as your last product
  13. haha - maybe. I think though that they develop these products and then hang on to them to wait to see what other people are going to be bringing out. The stomp came out the week before Headrush announced something very similar and sort of stole their thunder.
  14. I mean like the stomp, with a couple more buttons, and both full DSP channels. So twice the channels, twice the buttons and 4 times the blocks. The stomp is good for what it is, but it isn't anything like the LT. So really I want a full helix in a HX size box. I am happy to pay the LT price, but I don't have the LT space. They will make one eventually, might be a few years.
  15. I don't mind a few samples. In fact I use a couple of samples on a floor pedal when we are playing. We might be playing fairytale of new york at christmas. Today my wife asked me why I was going to take a keyboard to play it, if I was only doing the intro, rather than just play it on a recording. That hadn't even occured to me, and I don't intend to do it.
  16. The truss rod cover is any piece of wood you want or even not wood, it is wood on my premium, metal on the prestige and plastic on the normal ones - tbh, I didn't know that until I just looked. Tiny screws, but yes, just wood screws. Wouldn't recommend wenge as it is a nasty wood to work, but a small bit of rosewood is nothing on ebay and that would do nicely. Its very thin though. If the neck is wenge, it will have pits in the wood, that is the whole beauty of Wenge. It would be hard to say what you could use as wood grain filler as to me it would be like saying what emulsion would you recommend to give good coverage over the Sistine chapel! Strings obviously personal, mine all have d'addarios XL nickel round wound on (which is odd considering I am allergic to nickel), but the 5005 has NYXLs on, and they are rather nice. I think Ibanez put elixirs on them at the moment. Mine are always 130-45, but obviously you have the extra string, so I am guessing 130-30
  17. I must admit if I had seen one at £349 I would have been quite tempted to get one before I got the effects, it is a good price. Although Im happy for the moment, when they make a Helix LT mini I might reconsider!
  18. I think you might mean nF or µF - a 1000mF capacitor could give you quite a kick! But if its just an input capacitor you want to change, knocking it up to double will half the frequency which will take it down an octave for bass. And in general, I would just play through a guitar amp anyway (and generally do), the only thing you could fall foul of is that some guitar speakers dont have a long travel and can get a little heated with a lot of bass, but only when pushed a lot.
  19. Have you tried a SR rather than a BTB? I wondered as the string spacing is much wider (too wide for me) on the BTBs than the SRs. The other end is similar (although the BTB is also an inch longer) I agree - my h2n is with me everytime I am playing bass with anyone else, so it sort of counts as a bass thing (except mine is a few years old now). True it would come for if I was playing keys or guitar, but I am not doing as much of those!
  20. The car was last year, I didn't have a holiday this year and the love of my life is from Canada (but I met her on the internet 20 years ago!) Ahh - I got the name wrong - it is a GVB-36, not a GWB. Different name I wouldn't say necessarily avoid, it was a fine bass really (and looked great), just wasn't right for me. The B2s are something I will always keep. You throw them in your car as they take no room and if anything ever goes wrong, you have a perfectly serviceable bass to play any gig. The only reason I got rid of my B2 was because I wanted a B2V as I only really play 5s, and there wasn't really scope for 2.
  21. As we are just talking bass gear, I guess this rules out the Roli Keyboard and the Akai Ewi. I dont know about the Line 6 HX Effects - they are fun and good and all but I have only scratched the surface. So I guess at the moment the best purchase must be the Ashdown CTM-100. Hasn't made me sell the RH450 yet, and probably wont, but it has been a great thing to gig. Bass wise I don't think there is anything I got this year that I wouldn't sell. Oh hang on, I got the Hohner B2V, I wouldn't sell that. I guess the worst was the GWB36 - Just didn't get on with it. Also the Aliexpress Bongo wasnt that good, but it was a lot cheaper.
  22. Why is it useless? I assume he is probably making a living from it, is that pointless? I don't particularly want to see it, but that is my choice.
