I said happy, not a Childs TV presenter (or in our case, the singer), I occasionally manage a look of quiet contentment, or sometimes even amusement - no-one wants a smiling bass player, it unnerves them.

late 40s isn't old, not like it was when my parents were old! However it is older and it is quite disturbing when things cause issues. I was in my mid 40s when my knee collapsed, and while admittedly there were reasons that hastened that (earlier bike accidents in my early 20s), it came as a shock. Also I had a problem when I would miss easy notes when I was playing, which turned out to be trapped nerves in my neck (which was fixed by simply changing pillows!). All those years certainly add up and it is worth getting things checked if you can pin it on anything.

I think sometimes we are reluctant to think that things change when we age and adjust to it. I have recently change how I always sat with my leg up because it occured to me that it was uncomfortable, wheras I used to sit that way because it was more comfortable. Sometimes rather than wondering why it might be worth accepting it and moving on. Maybe later on it will happen to me so I can finally try all these basses with over 16.5mm spacing that people seem to like!

Oh that is a good deal if you are a professional musician.

You still have a month to buy as much as you can though, so that is ok, with the added advantage it becomes more sellable here, plus foreigners can buy it back off you cheaply!

I would assume that something has happened to your hands, probably something age related as unpleasant as that sounds. However, doesn't seem to cause you an issue as long as you have recognised it and done something to sort it out, ie, changing to a P bass.

Why does it matter - make your own list. I mean they have Roger Waters as the 13th best bassist. He wasn't even the best bassist in Pink Floyd let alone anywhere else

Well, me. I signed up back in 2013 when life membership was pretty cheap, did a few lessons, got bored carried on with other things. So much so that when I go it tells me that it looks like I am new here! Probably been there less than 50 times in 6 years. This course is the stuff that you just don't choose to do yourself because.. well, why would you. But when it is in one course on its own that you paid for, it makes sense to do it. That is why I did it. And I believe I have learned stuff on this course as well as it has pushed me into really listening to what I am doing. Some of the lessons are - my god, why would anyone need to be told that, and some are wow, thats good - One thing I am not is consistant, I can do some quite advanced stuff while falling down on some real basics.

I have found several lessons were a bit blank, where either it was something I already did fine or it didn't mean much to me, but some really helped. Like this weeks one

Well, I like the charcoal burst - I have a red burst that looks the same finish as that, but obviously redder (and with more strings and fewer pickguards)
