  1. Not had that, the only count in we do is poker face Yes, it seems perfectly reasonable. Have you never refused to do a song? A good third of the songs we play I don’t really like, and a couple I hate, but it’s all give and take. Oasis is out, slade Christmas songs are out, that’s it. There are a few songs that I was instrumental in dropping because they didn’t work, or we sounded bad doing them, and some others that the audience didn’t go for, and there are some songs I would like to do but the others aren’t keen. Luckily we are a covers band, there are many thousands of songs for us to choose from that aren’t in any of those groups. Frankly if we are just another band doing sex on fire / oasis etc, why come and see us rather than one of the 10 other bands on?
  2. We have sex on fire and other awful songs for that. Ignoring that I really detest oasis songs, there is nothing worse than a pub crowd singing oasis to make leave a pub. So no, if gigging is playing that, I am happy to not do it
  3. I am not experienced, but I don't play mine. Just don't like the neck much and it is just never the one I want to play. I don't even know what I don't like about the neck, and I have no problem when playing it, I just never pick it up.
  4. Yep - that is what I am happy to not be a part of!
  5. We often get drunk people asking for Oasis, I am sure it irritates the others in the band that I won't do them.
  6. Welcome - I bet your winter in Pheonix feels different to the winters when you were growing up then
  7. Problem I have with them is not that they are vile or divide opinion, that is normally a good thing, if a load of people hate it, it will be someones rickenbacker. Its just the fact that they are really.. well, meh. I couldn't really hate it. Or like it. In fact, by the time I got this far down the thread I forgot what they looked like again.
  8. Ah - that explains it - I thought that Ice T had just got an out of tune bassline because it was sampled from somewhere else!
  9. I am almost in, apart from that ibanez I bought last week. That doesn't count does it? It was just there to keep my other ones company!
  10. Cocaine is the one - luckily I have finally got that kicked out of that set. Not only is a mindless bass line, it is horribly dull song. For me, if playing bass was doing that then yes, it should be done on a keyboard or programmed.
  11. Are you saying there are other Eric Clapton titled songs that are actually not bad?
  12. We did a party in a bowling alley of a pub, an unheated one, so it was a bit cold. In a busy warm pub. The first half most people stayed in the warm pub, the second half for a while we had quite a heaving audience, but in the end most of them found the sound was good enough out in the main hall and it was warm there so they could hang out there, so it was not the best gig. But it is ok, we played well for us, and I got to play the new ibanez so I was fairly happy!
  13. Well, that is ok, I would expect a perfect score to be a really rare event. I am not sure how you can take the subjectiveness out of a review however all the time you have more than one person reviewing something, and all the time that a normal person has their own tastes. I mean, things have variable quality, so take for instance a P Bass. You get bad ones and good ones, so you must have ones that are pretty well firewood, and some that are so perfect. To me, I can't deal with the spacing of the P bass well, so it can never be perfect to me, which means that if I was reviewing one, although I can tell the difference between average and good, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between one that was very good, and one that was perfect.
  14. Which makes their reviews completely worthless
  15. And sold on facebook
  16. Oh I am too, interested to see what happens, and yes unusual (I have never seen that in anything) but is still something which made me hesitate a bit
  17. They are - my favourite looking bass is still one of the Shukers from last year. They are in my 'maybe one day I will get' list, although waiting to see what the outcome of that broken one is.
  18. Surely that is only a build quality issue if you were aiming for a lightweight?
  19. We play all right now. I am not one for getting 'the exact sound' (which I couldn't, it is way thumpier than any bass I would own), but the one that does it closest is the thunderbird, aided by the fact it is the only one that you can the high bit without looking as you just smash your hand into the body and you are at the right fret!
  20. Currently on hold for the weekend
  21. Well, that would be normal Long scale bass, fender scale guitar, so unless it is a really elaborate optical illusion, I can't see how that is true. That guitar bridge is only a tiny bit higher than the.. err... groin I guess!
  22. Might be a bit late on that one! I can confirm it is 16.5mm as nature intended I was already looking. I just looked at it every day on Dawsons and every day was kind of hoping their sale had gone, then though, well, why not!
  23. I have been fighting the GAS on that since it came out last year. I even tried to avoid playing it when it came into PMT as it doesn't give me anything I didn't have. But GAS is a cruel master, and I failed. It was (actually is) the most expensive premium (maybe the new 2405 has matched it, haven't seen the price on that yet). But at christmas, everyone put it down by £180, which was very tempting. Now GuitarGuitar and PMT have put it back up to their original price, Andertons kept it at that price. Then Dawsons just went crazy, had a sale and put it down £330 and I caved! I love it. And I didn't even realise it had luminays
  24. This came with the normal semi hard case. Maybe it is what they called a gig bag
