  1. I like most of them for various reasons, well, if you ignore the 90s on, until maybe more recently obviously, but that goes without saying. But which one is my favourite really depends on if I am in a Permanent Waves / Moving Pictures, or Signals -> Power Windows sort of mood. Was never that keen on Hold your fire, even though I enjoyed the gig. It was the last album from moving pictures onwards that I bought on release day.
  2. I would only accept paypal if I was shipping the item to someone to have proof it was sold, paypal on collection just means you could claim that they never sent it to you, there is no proof you got it but proof that it was paid for, so it seems odd he would want it that way. But I would always be more than happy to have cash on collection, that is the best payment option method for me.
  3. I guess it is the exchange rate that we have now but that is very expensive
  4. Yep, the whole immediacy of having an instrument there. For years I had a lot of keyboards around, but never played them because of the effort to set stuff up. Now I go into my room, press 1 on the power button and all my keyboards / mixer / amp comes to life. I press a key on something, it makes sound. With the bass, theres some upstairs, theres some downstairs. Some advert comes on the telly, I will grab a bass and play along to the advert, just because, well, it is what I do. There is a guitar there too, just in case. And a flute. And a AKAI wind instrument. All just ready for inspiration.
  5. I love post Gabriel Genesis. Although some of their stuff before that was ok, I can listen to it, Collins Genesis would feature as one of my all time favourite bands. And strangely, Gabriel solo work would feature as some of my favourite 'solo' artist. For me, Gabriel leaving Genesis was one of the best things that happened in music, they both became so much better afterwards.
  6. Any bass of mine in a case doesn't get played. If it doesn't get played it gets sold. Therefore if I put a bass in a case it means that it is going to end up sold! Sometimes I will pick up a bass and play it for a minute and put it back because I have an idea I thought about - if there was a case in the way that would stop that. I guess it works for people in tidy or big houses, I have neither!
  7. Are they that heavy?
  8. Although I probably wouldn't (and I would love one of those), I don't see that you wouldn't be able to use a hanger if you could find one wide enough
  9. Go for Geek99s idea - nail it to a piece of wood and screw that to the wall
  10. Sorry Although if you do want one, there is £60 off them if bought before 25th December, which is why i got my roli this week
  11. Can you not get a cheap one and hack it around to get round the nerve issue?
  12. It absolutely would work, yes, and maybe I would do something like that. I am just saying I don't recommend anyone else did. Except I would probably use crimps and maybe heatshrink
  13. I assumed they messed up the pickup cutout so did that to hide it?
  14. you would be surprised, the difference between 25 and 37 is more than it sounds. 25 is ok for short basslines, but the problem is you have basically 2 octaves if you are in c. with 37 you have 2 octaves in any key, so you don't get that bit where you run out of notes often. I would agree the launchkeys look good. I have a Axiom 61, and a mid-air 25, but I don't really use either of them, I tend to use what is already up, so the piano or the DS61 keyboard. Or my new Roli 49. I recommend that heartily as the best keyboard I have ever used. It almost fits the criteria of what you want, apart from the pads, the keys and the 'not breaking the bank' part
  15. Just strip a mains cable back, wrap the blue and brown wire round a pin each and slap some insulating tape over it, jobs a goodun' Note: I am not really recommending this!
  16. Half of mine are the wood ones anyway
  17. Makes them pretty secure but hard to get them off the wall when you want to play them!
  18. mine have always been hung on the wall and have never had any problems. Apart from once, when the hanger fell off as I used screws that were way too short!
  19. Whereas I like the nords almost better than almost any other pickup, the pickups on the Prestige 5005 is very impressive. When I bought it I also got a nord big blade as I thought I didn't like the barts, but these barts are very different from the normal. And very different from each other, so the stayed. They really go from deep growl to soft and smooth. Much better than the barts on the previous prestiges, and the main ranges. It would be hard to say now between the 5005 and 1605 which one I preferred the sound of, although it is nice the 1605 that it weighs half of the 5005!
  20. I wouldn't put that sort of restriction on myself
  21. I had an SRFFmultiscale too and couldn't get on with it as the tone was just dull and flat. I had a 505, that was better but not that much character (quite a solid bass in other ways) Really nothing to do with the body though, the 1605 and 5005 have the same bodies and they are nothing like it, I think the difference is just down to the pickups. I did almost put some nord singles into the SRFF, but they are £300 for a custom set for that size, so that didn't seem a good deal when I already have all the others.
  22. I have the same one. I am not a fan of P basses, and generally speaking, I probably shouldn't like it as its neck is too deep, the spacing is too wide, I don't like tobacco sunburst, but something about it just works, and on the list of basses I am going to get rid of next year, it doesn't feature
  23. I am selling my Roli Seaboard 25, as I have decided I run out of keys too much so I have a Seaboard 49 on order. As much as I would like to keep both I can't really justify that! So £310 and you pick it up at my house in Yeovil. Or somewhere in somerset / dorset area within 30/40 miles of Yeovil for a bit of petrol. Or if I happen to be going that way (I go to Bristol / Bath often, and Exeter occasionally). Or I can post for the cost of posting via an insured signed for service. The one with the rubber keys, or keywaves as they are known. Basically a continuous playing surface with the hint of keys, really hard to describe what it is like playing with one as there isn't much that is the same, although if you want to do synth basslines, you really can do it well with this. It is an MPE surface, which means instead of having one channel with note on / note off, pitch bend etc, each note uses a channel to itself so you can pitch bend each note independently etc. so you can slide between notes and up notes etc. This is the most expressive form of keyboard playing you are going to get, I would do a demo but you would be better off watching someone like Marco Paraisi on youtube demoing it, or that bloke from Dream Theatre. Or that bloke with St Vincent. Never was good with names. Yes, I know it isn't a bass but I thought I would advertise it here until eBay do another one of their £1 sale things. And if you get really good with it, you sound like this:
  24. Well, Yes, me too but I wouldn't pick a fender in the first place. however, if I was the type to pick a fender, I would assume they have a better second hand sale value.
  25. I just bought a Roli 49, but I guess that would be allowed anyway as it isn't bass! I won't be able to join in with your group - I am too weak, but hopefully I can end next year with less stuff than I start it with, that is the aim.
