  1. I must admit if I had seen one at £349 I would have been quite tempted to get one before I got the effects, it is a good price. Although Im happy for the moment, when they make a Helix LT mini I might reconsider!
  2. I think you might mean nF or µF - a 1000mF capacitor could give you quite a kick! But if its just an input capacitor you want to change, knocking it up to double will half the frequency which will take it down an octave for bass. And in general, I would just play through a guitar amp anyway (and generally do), the only thing you could fall foul of is that some guitar speakers dont have a long travel and can get a little heated with a lot of bass, but only when pushed a lot.
  3. Have you tried a SR rather than a BTB? I wondered as the string spacing is much wider (too wide for me) on the BTBs than the SRs. The other end is similar (although the BTB is also an inch longer) I agree - my h2n is with me everytime I am playing bass with anyone else, so it sort of counts as a bass thing (except mine is a few years old now). True it would come for if I was playing keys or guitar, but I am not doing as much of those!
  4. The car was last year, I didn't have a holiday this year and the love of my life is from Canada (but I met her on the internet 20 years ago!) Ahh - I got the name wrong - it is a GVB-36, not a GWB. Different name I wouldn't say necessarily avoid, it was a fine bass really (and looked great), just wasn't right for me. The B2s are something I will always keep. You throw them in your car as they take no room and if anything ever goes wrong, you have a perfectly serviceable bass to play any gig. The only reason I got rid of my B2 was because I wanted a B2V as I only really play 5s, and there wasn't really scope for 2.
  5. As we are just talking bass gear, I guess this rules out the Roli Keyboard and the Akai Ewi. I dont know about the Line 6 HX Effects - they are fun and good and all but I have only scratched the surface. So I guess at the moment the best purchase must be the Ashdown CTM-100. Hasn't made me sell the RH450 yet, and probably wont, but it has been a great thing to gig. Bass wise I don't think there is anything I got this year that I wouldn't sell. Oh hang on, I got the Hohner B2V, I wouldn't sell that. I guess the worst was the GWB36 - Just didn't get on with it. Also the Aliexpress Bongo wasnt that good, but it was a lot cheaper.
  6. Why is it useless? I assume he is probably making a living from it, is that pointless? I don't particularly want to see it, but that is my choice.
  7. Interestingly enough, now that the 10% has gone, the HX effects has gone down 10% in price.. hmm...! Strangely enough the Stomp has gone up, but then our currency is plummeting, it might be new stock.
  8. I saw one last month for sale - maybe the same one you got, sounds about the same! I thought about it but it was too far from home to take a chance with. If it had been somewhere I could drive easily I would have gone for it, but not sure it wouldn't end up being one of those things I wouldn't use. I have no real musical outlet for it in my current group and my prog cover group idea isn't going anywhere fast!
  9. Some people will do anything to avoid hearing christmas songs
  10. Sounds a bit like someone with one should ask TC what is going on with it!
  11. PRS Kestrel I would think
  12. Yes, its easier. When it all falls apart you can glare at them and everyone thinks its their fault!
  13. I had a ticket to see spocks beard some time ago, but I went away for a couple of weeks and only came back the previous day, and couldn't be bothered to treck back out to london. Its a shame I missed them but I don't blame me for it!
  14. well, there are 6 other days!
  15. Our singer has one of those. It seems to survive everything, although it got a bit funny last week when the microphone stand got stuck on it!
  16. No, more in the 'take £250 off that and it would be a good thing!"
  17. I don't get the digital part - where is the digital input? That is an amazing amount of money for a headphone amp though!
  18. Well, I like the woods they use, and the layout of the body, although it is a bit big, and I love the look of the pickups (and the idea of them). But then at some point you just have to look at the headstock, and OMFG. If you set out to create the ugliest headstock you could think of and you came up with that, you would feel pretty accomplished! On the other hand if you were ever stuck down a river in a boat without a paddle the Wal owner would be pretty smug!
  19. I check but have never bought from Reverb yet. I do like the format though. I have noticed that UK sellers price things more on reverb - like Bass Direct and The Gallery, so if you see something from them it makes sense to go to their shop.
  20. I appreciate the sound of the Wals*, but have never been a fan of the look, so not for me, even if I could afford one (and lets face it, afford is an abstract term anyway). Where in this context I mean the sound from RHCP, Rush (who I guess were also not fans of the look) and Tool.
  21. That is the problem. If you wanted to have an investment, and you did have a crystal ball, if you had sold one in 1997 for £300, and invested the money into apple shares, you would probably now be able to buy all the walls in existence!
  22. I have a Ibanez 5005 and 1605. They are both exactly the same shape, but the 5005 feels like I have put the 1605 on twice. However, sonically they are as bassy as each other. They don't sound the same because they have very different electronics
  23. Well, they probably will, but as with bitcoins, if you bought one for £200 in the 90s, and it has now gone up 10 x that price, that is the part of the curve that is done. What you need to find is the thing that has yet to go up 10x. Having said that, I did do bit coins and it paid for the ashdown amplifier!
  24. I love wenge. I have two 5 string ibanez SRs. The 5005 has a wenge neck and a wenge front and back. The 1605 has poplar (I think) on the top and back. The wenge is so much heavier than the 1605, it is amazing that those are the only differences.
