Yes, I was just looking at the simple ESI 4x4 - good price.

Multi midi port interfaces aren't too much, and probably worth getting if you have a large setup. Its worth having several midi outs if you want to control many things, you generally need fewer ins, unless you have a lot of control surfaces.

What are you listening to right now?

Maybe she was just a bit too late, if she had been around in the 80s she would have been huge, but now its not as popular a genre. And she should have come up with a name that didn't sound as close to alestorm, as I always assume people are talking about them when they mention the group! -
Cenfora "The Progening" - Progressive Metal with clean female vocals
Woodinblack replied to Kev's topic in Recording
Not my sort of thing normally but nice to hear clean vocals on it - sounds really good. -
I had that on my jazz (with an S1 switch) makes all the difference. i also have it on my fireman but that is way too loud anyway!

So, just how many basses do you own ????
Woodinblack replied to musicbassman's topic in General Discussion
Its true to say that I could let some of my guitars go, as I virtually never play guitar. But honestly I am not even sure where some of them are. I can see 4 when I walk around. Not sure where the other 6 or so are. -
He won't take responsibility for a twisted neck? how old is it, how much of a twist is it? How are you supposed to twist a neck yourself? At that point, yes, I would be asking for a fix or a refund probably

Err.. 1 or 2.. oh no, those numbers were supposed to be together. 12. But one shipped out yesterday (the 13th), and another is up for sale -
I only ended up doing that as fiddling around with equator, one of the patches was absolutely identical to one of the main theme synths in equinox - so you start these things and well, turns out you can do pretty well everything in equinox with equator. Wonder if the similarity in name is a coincidence

I would, yes, I am an ibanez fanboi as you can probably see from my list! They do have very narrow necks compared to a lot of 5s, certainly a lot less width than fenders. But I am a favour of trying as many things as possible, I would recommend going down to the local bass store (or a trip to a bigger city) and trying as much as you can.

What is decent budget? One persons decent budget it another mans loose change. There is a nice Ritter on here for £5600 There are quite a lot of light basses around - I quite like light, I dream of only doing 2 hour sets. My main basses are Ibanez, mostly because of the narrow necks which are also quite light (except the 5005, that is rather heavy), and I have an Maruszczyk Elwood, which is a bit jazz like with exactly the same profile as the ibanezes (was specified that way). Also have a G&L which I keep meaning to get rid of but ends up staying for when I want a P bass sound. Main bass now is my fireman, which I built, which has a very very narrow neck. I suppose the most obvious question is what is your current bass, and what is it that you like or dislike about it?

Just been trying. Works pretty well as long as everything is in the same mode. Ended up playing along with the whole of equinox!

Same here My elwood is great and so is my new cazpar
-
I haven't tried it in logic yet. I assume that means it works in mainstage 3?
-
Maybe it is just what you are not looking for that come up for sale. When I look basically the world is full of P basses for sale, and then a few jazz basses then a couple of others. I have only once played a P bass I actually really liked (I have a squier P that is ok, but it is just there for sentintal reason, I don't 'get' p basses), which was last week. A Precision bass elite. But really I am a 5 string player.

Sounds like good advice yes, I would have probably used allen screws.

My first bass was an ibanez Ric, would love to have that back, great sound (you won't get a ric to sound close to that ) although maybe not quite that much: https://vintageandrareguitars.com/product/1974-ibanez-model-2388-b-dx/

OK, this has been playing on my mind for the longest time, in the end I thought I needed to get one. I figured the 25 wasn't much use because of the size but I couldn't justify the 49 (not even thought of the 61). In the end I thought I would get a 25 as it was reasonably affordable second hand, if I didn't like it I could flog it again, if I did like it I could flog it and put it towards the 49. My 25 came yesterday and it is so different to the demo units I had tried. There is no drag and it is the most expressive keyboard experience I have ever had access too. The thing is wonderful, if I had had this when i was 14 I woudl never have given up the keyboard and taken up the guitar. So I will keep it for a while and if I am still regulalarly playing it in a few months, I will get a 49.

Yes, thats the sort of thing I was thinking of. Having said that, I have no idea why as I never bend the strings past the bridge anyway

I think I saw the same post as you - was it a G&L post on facebook? I was really impressed with their Alex and Geddy, especially their geddy as that is the one that rarely works as his voice is so characteristic.
-
That is an interesting idea, but i think the weight of the neck would be very neck divey. I didn't get a head block for it so I figured I would make something with screw terminals so it doesn't have to be double ball ends. But I quite like the bits they do on status basses, where there is a bit of a blank area at the top.

OK, I don't think it is going to be a fireman, and I haven't really got any plans yet other than the vaguest of ideas. The only things I do know is that it is almost certainly going to be 32" scale, a 5 string with 17mm string spacing at the bridge and it is going to be using this:

I agree - more so they need a customer facing representative that is better at communication than Adrian is. He has a good guitar building business and a fantastic bass player, but his communication skills can be a little abrupt for most. It is much easier to lose trade than to gain it. Half of the battle dealing with customers is letting them know you are listening to them, and maybe sometimes that is where he falls short, you often have to message a few times.

Still trying to recover from the weekend. Friday, our favourite pub, absolutely heaving, all went well. I took the messinger short scale, thought it needed an outing. Saturday, little village pub. Actually a really bad building with not enough space that don't pay much (ie, 2/3 of our favourite pub above), so we do a shorter set. Also went well apart from the normal village life with the normal dramas that young women in little village pubs seem to go through. Probably similar to towns to be fair, but they are probably crying to their friends in nightclubs rather than pubs. Sunday, birthday party in.. little village pub, but in a marquee outside. Weather not ideal but not too bad. Got to set up at 2, finally went on at 4:15, supposed to play for an hour until food was ready, played for an hour, DJ came on, food wasn't ready, hung around a bit, then thought we might as well go on again, played for another hour, then food was on, then DJ for a while while we had food and chatted, then played for another 45 minutes or so. Probably about 100 people who were friends of the guy whos birthday it was. He bought all the drinks, for those 100 people, plus the food (which was very nice), plus the DJ, plus us. They absolutely loved us and a few people from some local bands were there who said we were great. Which is odd, because we weren't, we were really tired and run down, the drummer very much so as he had been in the previous pub until 3. But I think we gave a good show and our singer may have been tired but he jumped around like mad, so I don't think anyone noticed
