Agreed - I don't think I would intentionally pick anything that was 2.4GHz for gigging these days, unless there was no choice (like the U4s, and sometimes they do have problems). There is no actual wirelss I need any more, although the singer could do with a wireless microphone, or as mentioned previously, a reliable wireless sax connection, but that is his lookout!

When my maruzchyk bass broke its bottom strap button, I took it to a friend of mine who used an old bit of brass pipe he had, put notches on the bottom and drilled the screw out, put a dowel in then a new screw. Couldn't have put a notch in the old screw as it was too small and the metal wasn't good enough even for a head, let alone a thin screw line.

My smoothound never actually dropped out (until it actually fell apart - now fixed) but there were times when the inteference bar on the side lit up full, and the signal bar was almost empty which made me feel a bit nervous! It does seem 5.8GHz is better for less inteference. Maybe just because it is less crowded in general, and this is with me using 5.8GHz for the connection for the X18 and iPad.

It looks nice, just the spacing. I am not sure what could be the downside of selling a bridge that works with a bongo, or even why they don't sell one themselves. I know bridges don't break often, but I am sure they can (and they sell the saddles) edit: I wrote to them and asked, see what they say

Certainly something I couldn't live with. I 100% trust mine to not cut out ever, if they did, I would stop using them. i have never had a cutout, and remember, I am talking very budget (these are my £50 5.8GHz dongles).
-
Really? Is there any wireless you have had that you couldn't do that with? Seems strange, I am happy to go to the other end of whatever venue I am with with my cheap dongle - obviously I don't play grand places but 3 times that distance. never had it drop out.

The compact mixing desk thread has a whole load of those things - some of them seem pretty good, with their own bonuses and pitfalls, but still pretty happy with the X18 and its other ecosystem stuff. I think the only thing that would push me from a X18 would be an X32 if I was doing more.

when I had the smooth hound it attached to the strap in a bit now I just use the dongle so it hangs in the bass. My wireless iems though attach to either my belt if I have one or my pocket

close, it's a bongo into an ashdown into a basschat 1x12, and it really did! yeh, I asked when you were on but the people with the PA were on at 4 and they didn't know. We were the second on the truck. You will probably get asked back, that's why we are there, we did last year gagglefest and played there another two times. It's been good each time (last years weather was better!) and my wife is happy to come along as she can play with the goats!

Note the X-Air app was updated recently as it wasn't working after the last ios update. More info probably in the mixing thread:

Well, our full name, self drive plant hire dorset! No, we tend to go by our shorter name of Rexes Hollow. I would have taken the sign but I am waiting for some fixings so we can hang it up somewhere!

Yep, always, its my only thing on my pedalboard these days (and the keyboard). I did a new patch last night as the sample player used to come out of channel 2 and bass came out of channel 1, but I thought as someone else was doing the sound, I would put the output of the sample on 1 as well to go through my amp, and at the same time, I put a chorus on there for 'Who knew' as well.

Today at a festival in Dorset, gagglefest (due to it being the gaggle of geese). Did an hour between 2-3pm, when it threatened to rain but didn't so people could sit out. it was a bit early, had some dancing but not as much as you would get later. Were told that the venue were laying on a PA with a sort of implication it was a PA company, but turned out that one of the other bands from later were putting on the PA, and it was considerably smaller than ours! Last year a group laid the PA on and it was massive. this time there wasn't any micing for the drums and no monitoring, so couldn't hear anything. Sort of sounded ok out the front with no real drumming. Still, I didn't have to worry about it and it was nice being like the guitarist for once and just turning up with an amp, pedalboard and bass. But my bass was pretty clear, so that was nice! Still, got to love a full paying 1 hour gig in the afternoon where you can get home before the shops shut and have food at home!

Woodinblack replied to Mickeyboro's question in Site Issues and Questions
Yes, there is a size limit of 500MB per account. In general it is quite a lot but it goes quite fast now when people upload things straight from their phones so what seem to be quite small images take up a lot of space. As others have said, trim unused images in your attachments and you will probably have room -
Stupid question - why do some basses have two batteries?
Woodinblack replied to GoodShowSir's topic in Bass Guitars
Just easy to make an amp with a proper centre zero voltage, rather than one made by making a half 4.5 rail on a 9v system. Doesn't have to be 18v, the original ibanez actives are 2 1.5V but 9v are convenient battery size. -
Sadly very familiar with this!
-
I carry one of those in my bag at all times. It is a great thing, even if it has a tendancy to switch itself on in a bag, but at least the batteries last well. It does also have a signal generator too.
-
Note the Nord big splits as used on the EHBs fit and look exactly the same as the big singles in the premiums, if you wanted to change.
-
I will also bring my Bongo as I remember when I wanted to try one there were none around. Maybe there would be interest in bringing the dwarf too and a screen so people can see what that is like to set one of those up?
-
I hate those - I guess we all do. But that is just the way of gigging, sometimes it just doesn't work.

SLX4 base <- SLX1 sender its always been a problem.

Is there an oportunity to haggle on that a bit, see if you can get it down to a tenner - I mean the paint is coming off!

Help & Advice - Roland/Boss COSM & MIDI Synth experience
Woodinblack replied to Richard R's topic in Effects
The VG system in that case was designed due to Rolands dislike of people who didn't wear shoes. The edges are purposely sharpened for that reason! -
Starting out with a PA - Am I on the right track.
Woodinblack replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Amps and Cabs
Apart from outdoor venues, I have never played in any venue where our drummer couldn't be heard by anyone standing outside the venue louder than the rest of the band without any amplification! But we always do the bass drum as it makes him happy. -
