  1. It used to be. But then it depends where you are buying from, if you happen to be taking a trip to one of the states with no sales tax such as Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon (or alaska, but a long way for a bass!), it can be worth it, assuming you don't get caught out, in which case it is likely more expensive. Not sure I understand the logic of carrying an empty case out, for one it will probably cost you more in bagage and for a second, who is going to make a note that you went out with a case?
  2. No, basically because music.
  3. Of course I wouldn't, but luckily, my toungue isn't made of metal. I should have put a caveat in my post then, no, you shouldn't try it if your body is made of non skin based material I would also say as a caveat, that I wouldn't put any unknown battery of any type on my toungue, just because the label indicated that it was a certain voltage. Especially not if you have a fully functioning multimeter in the house.
  4. Sorry to ruin a good anicdote, but if it was actually a 1.5V battery, it wouldn't matter if it had an entire nuclear reactor power it, it is *still* only 1.5V and would have the same effect as a micro button battery that was 1.5V. the current available is entirely irrelevant until you get up past a certain voltage (around 60v on your skin, less on your tongue). However, 9V can make a bit of a burn so you don't want to do that for long, a quick swipe past won't hurt too much.
  5. So good you named yourself twice!
  6. Ooh what kind of a messed up shuker thread doesn't have mine in it! Actually it has one I think, as I owned that 6 string up there ^ but the string spacing was too much for me. So I just have this:
  7. I know what you mean, I noticed in the amp shootout, that no only was the little bam amp (which cost me £78) an excelent thing, but also the TC450, which I hardly use and is often disparaged in these walls is actually a very nice amp. That and that the bowed B string on the NS Wav DB is actually quite a noticable and pleasant thing!
  8. Agreed, had a fantastic bash, but sadly only just got in as the car decided its engine wasn't good enough on the way back so had to wait for a guy in a truck to come out, clear some electronics and fondle some tubes before we were off again. Even with over 2 hours in tauntons poorer industrial estates it was worth it!
  9. Crazy good deal - if I was within a few hours I would go and get it and I don't even need another ibanez!
  10. And I will have another slice of vegan biscof cake. Oh did I mention the cake?
  11. She was later on, but not at the time of this video!
  12. Are we still doing an amp shootout? If so, do we know what we have to shoot out wtih? I have: ABM600 Evo IV TC450 BAM200 Bugera BV1001M happy to bring any / all Think I might bring a Boss WAZA Air bass if anyone wants to hear what they are like
  13. That is an odd collection, 4s and 7s, but no 5s or 6s.
  14. Be fair, it would be hard to mime properly if you can't hear the music coming through!
  15. There are fewer places around then there used to be, but the only reason our gigs are down is peoples lives getting in the way, and we rarely travel more than 20 minutes and that is in a town of less than 50k people.
  16. Underrated. Behringer. Originally - oh that is just a poor quality cheap copy of a boss etc. Democratised great digital mixers to small bands, to the point where they are the things that new expensive things are compared to. Long dead synths that their original manufacturers didn't want to bring back at prices people can afford. And cheap copies of boss effects that work.
  17. When we did a speaker shootout at the last southwest bass bash, the MB cab was the most coloured cab that we found - it was the only one that was really noticably a long way from flat.
  18. Power is shared between cabs, if they are the same load, so two 250w 8r cabs work as a 500w 4r cab together. I gig either a BC 300w 12" 9r cab, or 2 250W 12" TC cabs (used to use 1 for practice 1 for live) with a ABM600. So the amp has a higher rating than the 2 cabs, but thats ok, it never gets turned up full. On your list, cab option B is most certainly better than A.
  19. Yeh, but it is like a different company now
  20. I would say as a roli owner that is good to know, but they have gone down the tubes since then!
  21. you think after all this time Dave Brock would be better with a microphone! Seen hawkwind probably more than any other group, but not in the last 30 years
  22. You were done - another £7 you could have got 100% genuine IE500s!
  23. I didn't see that - just the layout
